No chance it’ll happen. We have an owner who thinks the right thing is for us to try and be a mini Man City.

If we stay up it’ll be some kind of Russell Martin type and a version of Enzoball.

If we stay up, I fully expect us to appoint Russell Martin.

We need a results driven manager. Rowett and Calum Davidson did well today - by no means a great performance but we managed the game more professionally in terms of protecting the result - its been ages since we had a manager that can do that.

He’s a proper manager who manages, that has to give some confidence after the absolute frauds we have had recently. He feels like a good fit for us and I feel he’s got something to prove to. At first I wasn’t 100 for getting him but now he’s managing games, he’s giving players clear instructions. Like I always said football is that hard, idiots like Marti make it more complex than in needs to be. I think for Rowett it could be an opportunity to have a crack at promotion with slightly better facilities etc. That is probably the first game this season where I can’t fault the players effort at least, it was deserved too, not many times I have been able to say that.

The subs were good, at the right time, he’s making the most out of the squad. The game management at the end was nice to see.

No, not an attractive enough option (footballing-wise) to club's philosophy of becoming a mini-Manchester City.

The problem with the clubs philosophy of becoming Man City is you end up with shit willy pullers like Marti Cifuentes who can talk the talk but can’t walk for shit

Wait until the end of the season and decide. But what i do want regardless if its Rowett or not is the manager being appointed early in the summer. The last two seasons we have appointed a manager when most clubs have already started signing players. We have been underprepared and probably lost out on numerous realistic players to other clubs because of this.

When Pearson was here the majority of business was done before pre season and look how well run we were then. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Give the new guy plenty of time to access the squad and choose who he wants in. Its especially important we do this this summer with the sheer amount of players that are going to be needed to replace the ones out of contract.

Depends on the new Sporting Director, as it should be noted that Man City recently massively modified their style to be able to deal with the massive shift to man to man marking across the pitch and away from positional play.

I’m inclined to agree with you but surprisingly our attacking patterns and chances in open play have improved a lot under Rowett, and that’s with a team whose confidence is in the bin. I expected our work-rate, defence and attacking set pieces to improve but not our overall performances too.

As such I could see a two year deal being put on the table if we stay up.

If Gary keeps us up then offer him a 2 year contract,  We need statbility. We should not be changing Managers every 3 months

I’d lean towards yes currently if we stay up.

My concern with not going with Rowett would be going with some shit ‘philosophy’ like Cifuentes or a ‘name’ like RVN.

Look at Sheffield United. 90+ points and play off final under Wilder. Sack him and bring in Selles the philosophy manager. Awful and rooted at the bottom of the league. Wilder comes back and they are looking really good again and climbing the table.

I’d rather have someone who is a good fit, demands standards and gets the team doing the basics right. Rowett is making a mockery of those who said the players wouldn’t ’have him’.

And this McCarron guy. We know he’s just a puppet for Aiyawatt and Rudkin right? To shield them. He won’t actually be making decisions. If he was actually both competent and been given the responsibility needed, he wouldn’t be here.

We need a manager who understands the club, fans can get behind and who gives us a much needed bit of consistency and stability.

if he keeps us up, Rowett checks those boxes.

Enzo was only ever going to be temporary.

Cooper was an uninspiring disaster.

Ruud was so out of his depth it was unbelievable.

Marti had some decent opening interviews but from there he never really connected with the fans.

i don’t want us to go crazy with the contract length on the back of some passable results (as we have form for….) given that we really shouldn’t be in this position in the first place, but a 1year contract with performance-based extensions/bonuses feels like it’d be fair reward for keeping us up.

Setting a baseline by surviving relegation and clearing out the end-of-contract deadwood players, but then immediately bringing in someone new to change the direction of the club AGAIN feels like we’d be repeating past failings and setting ourselves up for another tough season. I’d rather keep Rowett than risk another Cifuentes…

It’s too early to make that call. If he keeps us up by the skin of our teeth, then probably not. If he goes on a great run between now and the end of the season, playing good football, with a team that looks organised and motivated, then he has to be in with a shout. But definitely no more than a two year contract!

Yes on the basis he promotes at least some youth. I completely get it at the moment because I don’t think it’s necessarily the right time for the young lads and it can set a player back in development sense. And also, if we are being honest, it’s not like the any of the young lads have had the effect of Mukasa …. But next season IF we stay up, I hope he uses the youth more.

Took a look out of interest, and in 15/16 we signed 3 players early in the window whilst Pearson was still here: Huth, Fuchs and Okazaki. All 3 key parts of the title winning side.

After Ranieri joined the 3 we signed were Kante (who he had to be convinced about, and was identified early by SWalsh and Shakey who were the continuity) at the start of August and then Inler/Benalouane shortly after the season started.

So the early preseason work is what set us up for success, and the later additions were less impactful.

Preseason is a lot more important that those running the club seem to have given it credit for lately. Hopefully we can get a solid base sorted far sooner this year…

What’s his record with integrating academy players at his previous clubs? No point trying to bring through academy players if the bloke in charge isn’t interested.

I don’t think we have much choice, we need a bit of stability. Hopefully Rowett can provide it.

Give him a relatively short contract.

I really think a decent season in The Championship (mid, to top half) is progress.

We also just need a season of no dramas. A vanilla season.

Positive signs but there’s lots of different variations of staying up. Lumber towards safety on GD vs winning every game for the rest of the season playing attractive football along the way. Yes staying up is the goal, but think he also needs to achieve a decent points total, demonstrate an element of fight and attractiveness in our play and also get the fans back onside to be a shoe in.

Yes. I think, should we stay up, then next season would be about setting the foundation for a successful future, and I think Rowett ticks the boxes for that.

It's probably a season of aiming for 6th - 10th, giving youth a chance, and building with the right type of signings.

Rowett hasn't played youth as much as I'd like so far but I think that's understandable when he's on a short term contract and just looking at getting the best outcome in that time frame.

We need to be realistic and if he manages to keep this shower up he deserves a medal. He walked into a proper mess and be it goal difference or points if he keeps this team up he deserves serious consideration - he knows the club, brought a coach who similarly knows the club and has already simplified with a basic structure with work ethic. We have not had that for the past 4 managers and he will want this job not for money but for what he could achieve as he knows the potential. He will have worked out by the season end what is needed to get us competitive next season and be able to implement it quickly - for me already I would rather have GR than any of the previous 4 managers we had.

I love the 'he know's the club' argument when he was last at the club 25 years ago when we had a different stadium, a different training ground, different owners, and even a largely different fanbase lol

And he was here for like, two years max?

It'd be like Yoann Bennalouane coming back as a coach and being heralded as like a club legend or something.
