It will be the players that relegate us and not being good enough

Let's not make excuses

......this season, yes. But ultimately this is down to years & years of mismanagement, dreadful decisions & planning.

We've been sleepwalking into this for ages. Nobody at the top has been culpable, in fact it seems the opposite.

Absolute shambles.

Tomorrow's game is massive. Preston have nothing to play for and we should be fighting for our lives. If we win and back it up with a win at Sheffield Wednesday on Monday, then I think that we stay up. We then have Swansea at home before travelling to Fratton Park to play an out of form Portsmouth.

I truly believe that another 13 points will see us stay up. As long as we go into the final game in 22nd place and within 3 points of Blackburn, then I give us a chance.

I think we can survive. We should survive. And that's the problem.

After a conversation with an Oxford United fan (yes they have one) I've come to realise we have the hardest challenge as teams won't roll over for us; the already on the beach thing won't happen. Opposing teams like nothing better than kicking the ass of a load of Premier League has beens. It's reputation building for opposing players. We are a free hit to teams with nothing to play for.

Hopefully, he was just a great wind up and very wrong.

Quality wise we have enough, it’s just whether these lot have any kind of mental strength in the last few games.

Ramsey back could help a lot if he stays fit.

Of course we can.

All we need over the remaining games is to do one point better than one rubbish team and no worse than another rubbish team. That might happen. If it's two from three now then we basically have a 33% chance of staying up.

Although tbh if I supported West Brom or Blackburn I'd hardly be thinking they were safe. So perhaps it's still two from five.

Let's just say it's about 50:50 whether we stay up or go down. Not great, and performances are hardly inspiring confidence, but it's never over till it's over.

There seems to be a lot of gloom and doom, we are not down yet, I think we can get to safety and build next season.

Is there anyone with something positive to say instead of negative drivel

Have you watched us play?

I mean of course we CAN. But the chances of these twats putting the shift in is low.

That’s the problem.

The teams around us will run more, put their bodies on the line and fight for survival.

I just don’t think these players have it in them - they’ve proved it time after time

There are a lot of factors but I can’t get past the fact that people are claiming multiple wins are on the way….let’s see A WIN, before we start counting the points from multiple ones.

The factors include:-

Our centre forwards carry no threat.

We very rarely keep clean sheets.

Our full backs invite the opposition to put in crosses all game long unchallenged, making our box a tin can alley.

The six point deficit means we’ve earned enough points to not be in the relegation zone…just.

Current form is in some ways encouraging, depends where you draw the line for a current form table (to suit your own particular narrative typically)

Silly season (time of year) - There will be shocks and unexpected results.

Dead rubbers / on the beach / resting for play offs - Not every side will be functioning at their normal level for various reasons, your rival playing someone who has just missed out on the play offs may not be as tough as it sounds.

It’s a barmpot league - anything can happen.

Predicting how it will go is like trying to nail jelly to a moving wall, the overall focus should be on improving form enough to achieve enough of our own points to survive not wining about West Brom getting late equalisers or winners like we’re hard done by by that happening, make your own luck, bloody some noses yourself, be the ones that stick in the game for 95 minutes not crumble at home to QPR.

I could also bag Margot Robbie.

However at this stage, having watch us play utterly crap all season, I’d suggest we have as much chance of staying up as Bonnie Blue does attempting to go celibate.

We can, but I don't think we will.

We're too reliant on other results now and others failing, which isn't a comfortable position to be in. The players haven't shown the bottle that they want to stay up, so I'm not hopeful.

Haven't won in something like 14 games and people think we are suddenly going to turn it around, with the same group of players.  Woeful, home form.

Accept we are down it makes it a whole lot easier.

We beat Bristol 3 weeks ago, but before that you have to look back to West Brom at New Year…

I agree we are going down, unless the form of Oxford drops off a cliff and Pompey keep failing.

Will we be relegated - NO

Should we be relegated - Absolutely !!!

What makes you thinks we're not getting relegated? We have to do something we haven't done all season or last 2...go on a winning streak.

Because under our new manager we have clearly improved in terms of both defensive shape and mental resilience, and I expect us to continue improving. We appear to be on an upward trajectory at exactly the right time and we have a favourable fixture list to ride that trajectory. We will very likely avoid relegation, as the bookies are predicting.

100% we have the quality to stay up, but mentally the players are already down.

Hopefully the international break has acted as a bit of a reset.

Did the players look like they were mentally already down when we dominated Watford for 90mins in our last match?
