Last thing we need! We don't want to play pathetic pass, pass bore football. This league we need to be direct robus and mentally ready. He will make us a pathetic mess.

With him, nothing changes

On one thread you want nicko to be the best journalist ever on another you hope he’s wrong.

Hopefully it’s Martin’s agent leaking the story and using us as leverage to maybe push Watford and Blackburn interest, wouldn’t be overly shocked to see him go back to Southampton once they fire off Eckert.

Let face it whilst Rudkin is here we aren’t going to get anyone decent or interesting. The new technical director is just a yes man for the higher levels.

And you know this for certain because?

It’s just the way the club operates. Why keep Rudkin in the club, he will be reporting to Rudkin and Rudkin will have the final say. I guess time will tell if we bring in someone more inventive but I fully expect the usual garbage the club chases like Martin.

Rudkin will probably get Pissmore, from the women's team to do both jobs for one salary,  as he always wants someone at the club to be more hated than him and save money.

McCarron comes from city group, they use a slower, data-driven process . His job is to literally rebuild the club's playing philosophy from the ground up, identify who needs to stay, who goes, identifying recruitment profiles for league one players, thinking long term about club success and then appointing a manager who can get the job done. He won't be hiring a manager to impose a system on the club, he will be hiring a manager who fits the system he wants, with the player profiles he believes we need to make that system work. And that takes time to get right - to really unpack the data and make decisions. Clubs like Bournemouth have an identity, and a recruitment strategy that's been working, we don't. So its easier for them to make faster decisions and have replacement managers in place: they aren't reinventing their playing identity. McCarron won't be hiring a manager based on vibes or on name recognition. I actually think McCarron's the first real sensible person in our club to get us out of the mess we've been in the last few seasons: hiring on vibes (Ruud) or impulse (Cooper). I totally get the frustration: we don't have time to waste, sure. We also don't have the money to waste on a poor fit, and I'd rather the club take its time to get this right than us start off this season poorly. This is such a big season for us, we need to get this right.

This a million times over. People need to realise as well the EFL season finishes early in comparison to other leagues. The majority of leagues finish this week, most decent managers/coaches will want to see out the season prior to engaging with other clubs.

🤷‍♂️ been linked with clubs in England and France

Know bugger all about him other than he reminds me of Jez from Peep Show which can only be a good thing.

I'd welcome something like this.. different ideas as it's the usual suspects linked with every managerial job.

Ideally I'd take Robins and let him rebuild us but open to someone like this.

Said it as a joke before but genuinely now just get Nige back

Martin O'Neill at 75 went back to Celtic and that worked out well so why not Nige?!
