Death has just been announced of Mike Galloway aged 60. Was on loan to City around 1995 but only played a few matches, but was one of those loan players who really endeared himself to City fans with his tough, uncompromising playing style.

Good player ,didn't  he have a car accident while here that cut his loan short ?RIP Mick .

Yes I believe he had a very bad accident. I seem to remember he played in the 4-4 draw in the Prem at Villa Park, before we got relegated. Exactly the type of tough and skilful player we needed last season.

Sad news, remember him signing for us on loan. Think he may have played in a televised game in midweek if I remember correctly. RIP.

I think he fell out with Mark McGhee and was squeezed out of City before his car crash. As well as being a tough tackler he could whip in some great crosses - one memorable one away at Cov which Iwan Roberts got on the end of with a bullet of a header. RIP.

Capable player. Had a car crash and I believe QPR chanted ‘Is Galloway away’ half the night when we played them. I may have the opposition wrong.

Funny how times change because at that point it didn’t seem tremendously offensive or upsetting. We just yelled back from the Kop for them to shove it. Nowadays there would be potential for arrests.

I was working at the job centre when he signed and there was this Scottish bloke working there. A Celtic fan.
I always think back to this when I hear his name  I asked him what’s he like and his response was “well we call him shitey Galloway”

I liked him and as others have said a throwback to a player with some real grit. Sadly lacking these days

RIP

A superb acquisition for us at the time. The accident was horrific incurring near fatal head, internal, and leg injuries and as I recall he was in a critical condition for some length of time following the emergency surgery. It put an end to his playing career. Celtic loaned him to us and even based upon his brief performances I remember there was much anticipation that he would possibly stay. He was an absolute hero at Hearts.

I'm presuming that the person who responded to the OP with the laughing emoji did so in error.

Oh what sad news. He was admitted to the orthopaedic and trauma ward I worked on at the LRI after his accident, so I cared for him briefly - nice chap. 60 is no age really,  rest in peace, Mike.

Horrible junction. Busy main road cut village in half. 50mph speed limit all the way from Lutterworth to Blaby now.
