Vacamion Posted 30 August Posted 30 August (edited) Having watched (and laughed at) his demise at Rangers, I said when he was appointed that the fanbase wouldn't give him anything like the usual level of time, understanding and patience. THIS is embarrassing and it can't continue: Lose in the week and drop into the relegation spots and I think (even after so few games) the atmosphere will go full on poisonous for as long as he lasts. Remember, he put up with some pretty poisonous stuff from the Rangers fans (he needed a police escort out of a side exit at Falkirk's ground) so a few boos and hisses won't deter him from what he sees as the only way to play. Of course, he doesn't help himself in that he is a bit of a weirdo (Dude - get a proper haircut - just take a picture of Nigel Pearson in 2008 into the barbers and tell them you want that one, and also maybe swap the black pajamas on the touchline for something out of the club shop, ffs). You hold them to the same standard as the teams we had over last 2 or 3 years. They have hardley played together they have had 3 games and your all throwing your toys out the pram. All I’m saying is give them a fare sample of games and some time before you start booing them. We have every advantage over most of the other teams in this division. Much like we had last year and look how that turned out. Anyway, I didn't boo them, I wasn't there. I am moaning about it and moaning about the predictability of appointing Russell ****ing Martin and sitting one place out of the relegation zone in league one, looking up to the likes of Mansfield and Bromley. I will definitely hold them to higher standards than this Edited 30 August by murphy 3

Stadt Posted 30 August Posted 30 August What do people think is going to happen after 10 games? It just clicks? We’ll still create chances for the opposition for our own goal kicks, he’ll probably put Skipp in for Page, he’ll persist with his tapeworms in Reid/Burns/Cullen, he’ll persist with coaching choices that mean we won’t cut teams open. Some Rangers would have been saying the same, except it got so bad he couldn’t get to 10 games. He’s had one good season in his career. 2

We could be in the relegation zone today if AFC Wimbledon or Wigan win. And lose Tuesday and we'll comfortably be in the relegation places. Edited 30 August by fox_favourite 1
Popular Post Gevans_97 Posted 30 August Popular Post Posted 30 August The first 2 league games of the season were very poor and extremely worrying. But plenty of positives to take from yesterday. I don’t think Martin is the answer but like any manager he deserves 5-10 games to see where this team can get to. If yesterday’s performance is the new normal, we’ll be fine. Whilst I do not like his tactics, I struggle to criticise them yesterday because we dominated MK and should have scored multiple goals. If Cullen or BDCR had scored we’d be 9th/10th, talking about how we were on the up. margins are so fine at this stage of the season and league position incredibly volatile. We could be in the top 6 in a week’s time. I’m obviously not pleased about the start of the season. But I think we’re all so used to doom-mongering that some people are cutting off their nose to spite their face. 5
Claudio Fannieri Posted 30 August Posted 30 August Massive couple of days ahead for not only Martin’s future but possibly the future of the club, if we fail to move on the likes of Faes, Souttar, Choudhury, Okoli, Skipp, Mavididi & Coulibaly and do not add 2 CB’s a midfielder and a striker then we are in big trouble. I would not be shocked if RM walked within weeks and we are stuck with an inbalanced squad and a group of highly paid disengaged wantaways who will need to be reintegrated to the squad. The atmosphere and culture will be toxic and we will be staring down the barrel. We really do need to see 3 or 4 move out in the next 24 hours to stand any chance of ensuring the swamp is fully drained and we have time to bring the numbers and quality we need to push on. Huge test of McCarron’s abilities and also what weight, influence and control he actually has to make things happen at pace. Posters talk about the high churn of players this summer but in reality we have not seen a high profile / notable departure for about 3 weeks now which is concerning.
Happy Fox Posted 30 August Posted 30 August Does anyone genuinely think Russell will get us in the top 2? let alone the top 6 , I don’t in all honesty. The likes of Cleverley , Jack Wiltshire and Aaron Ramsey are all streets ahead of him imo.
Fazzer 7 Posted 30 August Posted 30 August He has to go all out for 3 points on Tues and that means a starting 11 that includes Braybrook, Alves, Page and Bristric. Not BDCR. Stick with Stol between the sticks, I don't care what anyone says, he's an improvement on MaCarthy. I'd also leave Thomas out and put the new defender in. Then if a side with these players in can't win the game against Plymouth at home we really are in for a difficult season.

This 10 games stuff is bollocks, look at Jaissle and Newcastle, the club was in turmoil. They've recruited some decent players and a manager who he keeps his tactics simple and they're rewarded with 4 points against 2 top 6 teams. 2
Mike1983 Posted 30 August Posted 30 August If we all start eating tofu in support of Martin, we might start winning games.

Right to criticise the bad results but I won't be calling for his head until we're at least 10 league games into the season and the squad is settled. I hate this about Leicester fans. I don't want this shit sandwich but I'll eat it and see if it's any good 1 1
brookfox Posted 30 August Posted 30 August I have a tiny bit of sympathy for him in that he still has an unsettled squad due to our inability to finalise deals. Some clear gaps in the squad and too many who shouldn’t be here. Get the window closed and see how he gets on with a settled squad. 2
adejo92 Posted 30 August Posted 30 August I can understand his choice of starting 11 given the 3 games in quick succession. I think he probably judged MK Dons as the 'easier' fixture than Tuesday which is why he left out the like of Howell, Alves and the striker. He was probably hoping to not have to use any of them so they are fully fit for Tuesday. I do think he left the subs too late though, if Alves had an extra 10 minutes, I think the ball would have found the net.

JonnyZeroFox Posted 30 August Posted 30 August If we win a league match with him and his football I’ll be surprised. Everything that was happening at his time at rangers is happening here and that was the worry with this appointment

You think Newcastle are in the same amount of turmoil as us. They have sold £235m of players and brought in £216m worth. We have sold about 40m and spent what 3m They spent 200m the season before compared to 0 for us. They finished 12th in the PL whilst we were relegated for the 2nd season running. Newcastle are having a rebuild they are not in turmoil. Edited 30 August by coolhandfox
