Just now, BenTheFox said: In fact, the 9-1 aggregate defeat to Brugge was as damaging as their league form. Yeah i'm not saying they were any good in those games, just saying that he had far more than the 7 league games he got. Had plenty of games and he was consistently shit.

I think two more losses in a row probably ought to do it, particularly if they are heavy defeats, and particularly if they are for the same reason (stubborn inflexibility/no plan B), but even then I’m not so sure, given contracts, money etc. A draw would mean survival for the time being, and a win resets the clock entirely.
winteriscoming Posted 7 September Posted 7 September I’m sure they’re just sorting out getting a replacement in like any normal club would…… And if you believe that you’ll believe anything. 1

SK3Blue Posted 7 September Posted 7 September Just when we needed a Jock Wallace type from Rangers, we get one who required a police escort from his own supporters. Get him gone.
AKCJ Posted 7 September Posted 7 September Come on Aiyawatt. Just do something positive for once and get rid.
cruzFOX Posted 7 September Posted 7 September (edited) This possession based footy that pep mastered at Barca looks simple but is anything but. It took years and years to craft with endless rondos every day that would make a regular footballer mind spin. Add to that a group of players that were miles better than anyone else on the planet that were able to adapt and execute with precision. Also add a very very high level of fitness and mental focus to avoid making mistakes which would be catastrophic playing this style. Now here we are with Russel Martin. Ideally for him to succeed he would have to take a season OFF with these players so they learn, get familiar and become perfect at playing this way. They need to raise their focus levels, their accuracy in passing and fitness levels for constant movement and winning the ball back quickly. Trying to learn on the job does not work. We are getting spanked and will continue to. I don’t know what the answer is. I hope Martin knows and figures it out quickly. For now maybe best to play some sort of hybrid style that’s effective in making us defensively solid and attacking wise effective. We can’t slip away in this league we really can’t. I've heard it all now! would pale into total insignificance if we won the league under RM (not saying that's going to happen, but it absolutely would).
Pliskin Posted 7 September Posted 7 September I’ve noticed there’s been no training video’s on the socials….. normally they’re relentless…..

mattlcfc15 Posted 7 September Posted 7 September Surely the club won’t be on the hook for his entire contract if they did pull the trigger soon; don’t most only pay some it in severance? Either way, if they sack him now that reflects badly on the board, and proves it was the wrong call. They also can’t back him that heavily and bin him one game after the window closed. If they sack him in 5/6 games, that’s Martin having failed with a squad provided for him.
