Well our squad was well below par and anyone thinking we’d go straight back up last year was pretty clueless, including the chairman. It was always going to be a savage year, albeit I didn’t think we’d go down.

This league in comparison is absolutely shit and there are some terrible footballers in this division.

Yeah tbf league one does have Luke Thomas lol

Levels above us. When he's off the naughty step/back from sabbatical (depends on which story you believe), he'll be straight to a Prem team.

Not heard this. What's the rumour?

But yeah, he's about 200 levels above us.

Russell -

it appears to me that you instruct McCarthy to pass short when he has the ball with a long pass still being withing the penalty box. Have a look at Coventry's goal yesterday; Rushworth  kicked long for their winger to run onto the ball and score. What are your "learnings from this?

Surely Alves (who has "energy") could do something similar.(As an aside, I guess Burns could do similar a few years ago but he now seems to have little speed - doesn't a fitness test before diving a 3 year contract pick this up).

Would this make it less likely for an opposition high press which has been used to good effect by teams knowing there is always a very short pass from McCarthy?

Suggested homework for the 3 week league break - watch our games from 2015/16 and consider why the title was won with City nearly always having less possession every game. Ok, we had some decent players but there was a different intent. Possession in itself does not win matches.

Try mixing the style up a bit and you may have a better reception from fans at end of most games.

If Martin had an ounce of sense he would get into mix things up, not just stick to the same mind numbing rubbish.  Be a bit more direct at times, can’t hurt can it?  Currently we’re pants.

It would be interesting to see a stat for territory, for any of our games but I can't seem to find it.  The point is that possession on its own is pretty meaningless if it's centre halves on the edge of their own third passing it around.

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. Managers like Russel Martin doggedly stick to their approach because they are desperate for that puff piece they’d get in the media for sticking to their guns and ‘playing football the right way.’ Rodgers was the same, its pure ego driven.

No matter how bad things get they wont abandon the mission.

You really don't need to look that up lol

Well, I'm not usually one to gossip, but...

I know a few tractor boys who claim inside info that he had grown rather close to someone who works there. Wife found out and issued a club or family ultimatum. He chose the latter. All allegedly and heresay obviously.

Challinor will probably get offers which are a better proposition than Leicester City currently. That's my point we will end up with average lower league managers and the ones with potential to manage higher up the food chain will get better offers. It's not as simple as just "here is more money so come and join us"

We’re not in the same market as we were that’s true. But that’s why a well-run football club constantly scouts and does research. You have to unearth up and coming managers, as well as players. Put that on the list of things the club should do, but won’t.

So no we’re not going to get a proven manager. That’s no reason why we can’t hire a good one. ‘Good’ does not mean famous, ‘good’ does not mean hugely successful. Are you suggesting there will

never be a good manager born again? That every good manager has already been discovered?

We will end up with an average manager if the club refuse to do the correct research and due diligence, no other reason.

If you've said it before there's no need to say it again 👍

I know, but I also see it as a sign of absolute stupidity. Ego aside, you really have to be a moron in a results driven business to continue with something that obviously doesn’t work.  Even a modicum of sense should inform you that changing things might be in your own best interests. At this point it’s beyond comprehension.
