I don't even particularly mind 'possession football'. When people on here were complaining about watching us under Enzo, I was in the minority in defending it.

What I do mind is possession as the objective. Possession over anything else. Possession without purpose. Possession first, results second.

Our ownership's clear minded obsession with it is mind boggling. For a group of blokes seemingly unable to align on or achieve anything, they somehow simultaneously have been able to crystalise this totally unnecessary and damaging vision, nae raison d'être for having to keep the ball and score the perfect goal at all costs.

I just do not get it. Nobody should touch Martin with a barge pole, but least of all us. A club on a remarkable downward spiral for two years, the last thing we needed was a manager on an equally dismal losing run. But he ticks the possession box, so who cares.

I just fail to believe anybody is this stupid. There has to be some sort of conspiracy. Surely? It is painful to comprehend.

Genuinely, I'd rather pick a random combination of fans to run this club at this point.

We should have won the league a lot more comfortably and he hasn’t got a clue how to address the slide in the second half of the season. It was literally a case of them abandoning his tactics and scraping over the line in the end.

One thing Enzo had though was the respect of the dressing room. Rodgers had it when he first arrived and I don’t think anyone else really has since Pearson. You need that buy in and we have had a petulant bunch of players turn their nose up at every manager we’ve appointed. Enzo made sure they all worshipped him to the point Winks was sticking pins in a cooper voodoo doll.

I don’t think you could have sabotaged a club more than this if you were actively trying.

Obvs Claudio had it. Probably Shakey too.

This style was embedded in the club before McCarron. He obviously believes in the philosophy which is why he was employed.

It would have been stupid to have employed someone like Howard Wilkinson when Top and Rudkin want possession based football.

Sure, but it's pretty impressive to find the only other true believers out there with seemingly no capability of thinking outside of their box or pragmatism whatsoever.

Birds of a feather though I guess. Imagine if they were right about their philosophy though, they would be unstoppable.

Just a shame they are wrong.

Yeah I don’t know how I forgot about Claudio 🤣

It was the right choice to sack him but they undoubtedly went to the boss and got rid of him.

It may well have happened already but the club could be waiting on a more appropriate time to reveal it to the press.

Im not convinced he has, but will wait until tomorrow.

I had thought we’d be stuck with him until the club was sold regardless but Rudkin and McCarron finally going public, yesterday’s result and Martin’s gloomy post match interview are beginning to suggest a defeat next week will see him go.

He can’t last another week, surely 3-0 down at HT against P/boro is bad enough?

Never mind possession. The bloke has no clue how to set a team up to defend. As soon as we lose the ball, especially when we’ve stupidly over committed, we look an absolute mess defensively.

god knows what they are working on during the week.

Yeh we are dreadful in transition and a main feature of this style of football is the transitions. Pressing when out possession and if you lose the ball, working relentlessly hard to win it back as soon as possible. Every team we play just bangs 11 behind the ball and then as soon as they get it back break quickly and go from their box to our box in 2-3 passes whilst we have 20-30 passes before we even get near the opposition box.

Totally agree, it's like the titanic.

They're all going to go down with a sinking ship. Administration is the only way we get rid of this heirachy.

Martin is under pressure, McCarron in his interview before KO is expecting the team to kick-on in the next 5 games.

Not a very good start😂, only question is will they wait 4 games before pulling the trigger?

Spoiler alert. Yes. Because we will win one of them for another false dawn.

1 win, 1 draw & 2 losses expected.

Would be pleasantly surprised if he is gone straight after that.

Was his arrival relatively late? 15th of June? That's earlier than Enzo in 23 and earlier than Pearson in 08. Not an excuse that will wash for Martin I'm afraid.

It’s not late at all no.

Especially when he's just had another 3 weeks of training in the international break. The more time they spend with this twat the shitter they become.

He's not going is he? I think the owners/rudders are bought into his way of football and will back him for a long time. League 2 is a real possibility.

I think the idiots in charge perhaps view it how some fans did with the whole 'get relegated for a reset' argument. If we can play the desired style, then so what we are in tier 7, it's now ok to start making our way back up. Just like you don't need to get relegated to have a reset, but some people think you need the 'shock' of it

Possession based football is fine, it’s as viable as viable a tactic as any other with the right personnel.

Which we do not have, and we have a manager who on his own words willing to die by the sword in trying to make them the personnel to have, which isn’t going to happen, so we’re fcked, it’s simple really.

'There are currently no official UK betting odds published for Russell Martin to be sacked as Leicester City manager, despite facing early fan backlash, boos, and sack chants following a difficult start to his tenure at the King Power Stadium.'

I think two things can be true at the same time.

We need the owners to go for us to truly progress.

Equally, there's no way we can't do better than Martin. He's the opposite of what we need now, and not just his style either. He comes across as complacent, toxic and distant. I'm sure we'd be able to bring somebody in who is committed, grounded and can get more from this team.

That might not mean we get promoted, but we saw this story unfold last season. I said the same that there was no point sacking Cifuentes, and we know now how wrong I was. He should have been sacked early and given another manager more time to turn us around.

There's hundreds of managers better than RM, but we won't employ any of them.

We'll end up with Andy King, Conor Hourihane (most likely) or Liam Manning, and the football will be the same and results probably only slightly better.

I genuinely thought he would have been gone this morning.

The Leadership of our club are a joke.

don't tend to announce it that early. Cifuentes was 4pm on the Sunday, Cooper the same, Rodgers was about half 1 iirc.

The people at the club will die on Russell Martin’s little hill.

The fans didn’t want him. Everyone warned them. The football is ****ing shit and he’s dying on his arse. They’ll be made to look like even bigger twats than they already are.

They’re going to double down until it’s too late.

It's obvious Lundstram doesn't respect him. Look at the lack of effort he made to get back for the 2nd goal after giving the ball away. He was walking while Okoli was pressing higher up the pitch.

He should rewind ten years and have a look at what can be done with 42% possession. He’s actually just talking nonsense. One week it’s all about energy, the next he’s taking out the younger players like Braybrooke who bring exactly that.

I think its simple:

Cooper - fans didn't want.

RvN - sensible fans didn't want.

Marti - fans didn't want.

Kingy in temp charge - fans knew he was out his depth.

Rowett - fans didn't want.

Martin - fans/no-one wanted him here.

Every appointment since Maresca has been almost a slight against the fans from Rudkin and the board. They never listen.

I'm not going to another match until Martin has gone, and I'm a season ticket holder. Tempted to cancel the direct debit.

Wonder where he got his style of play from in the first place and how he achieved a Championship play-off final.
