It’s like watching his Southampton team when we beat them twice under Maresca.

pass, pass, pass.

get countered and concede.

He clearly can’t set a team up defensively.

The goals we concede are the same every week.

Yes Russell seemed confused by the question of why do we keep conceding such poor goals.

Grasping at who he could sling under the bus next

And we cant give our club credit for appointing Maresca. He literally just turned up and appointed himself the day after after Man City won the treble. If he hadnt applied, god knows who we would have ended up with.

Agreed. Same all the way back with Pearson too as, thankfully, he wanted to come back. I dread to think all the way back then who we'd have gone for if he wanted to stay at Hull.

Enzo, when we played "better" teams or teams that played lots of possession football did alter his tactics.

He was single minded but also smart with it.

Emotions were high Saturday so I wasn't sure if I was overreacting myself, but after a stress free Sunday and a chilled Monday morning, I stand by not returning until this **** has gone.

I don't see us beating Donny Rovers and Bromley so surely anything less than 6 points he has to get sacked, it's abysmal to be quite honest, at the bare minimum we should be where Wednesday are.

The Seagrave thing might be an issue but don't think so really.

The issue is we have, Owners that employ incompetent people below them, Then the people below them do the same thing and in cascades through the whole organisation.

Yeah I’m not buying it. Even if we can say the Belvoir was a rougher old fashioned place that kept players feet on the ground you still think that they’d be a multitude of options and actions to meld a close knit ethos. Other clubs don’t seem to have the same problem.

Your success in any organisation is going to boil down the people. It starts from the top as they decide and set strategy and it’s their structure and culture that will exist throughout. Have we recruited well on and the pitch and off it, how do those we bring in fit into the culture. I think we’ve got a culture and rigid centralised structure that reflects those at the Top - Rudkin and Top. I’m sure we’ve got some cracking people, lots of not so good and a poor culture that fails to get everyone (irrespective of their ability) driving to the same goals and standards.

Im sure such a big change did have a negative impact but why haven’t we adapted and changed. There is only so much you can blame it but it should be obvious to anyone of the incompetence we see at Board level; that can be changed.

Initially I was ready to give him time but he's got to go. I ended up laughing at their goals on the weekend because it has just become such a joke.

The biggest issue, of course, is that we've managed to excel ourselves with every new appointment since Maresca left by going for someone worse than the previous manager, so god knows who will be next.

Surely there are conversations going on in the club about this (regardless of how incompetent they seem to be)? They may have a belief in a particular style of play but it's not even like Russell Martin is presenting that consistently. We get glimpses here and there, which some people seem to cling on to as a sign that things will be okay, completely ignoring the other 85 minutes of dross.

Maybe I'm oversimplifying it but if you inject energy, pace and desire into your team, then the fans get on side. If the fans get on side, the players feel energised and put an extra shift in. I always remember the Brendan Rodgers days at Liverpool, where his teams would come flying out of the blocks (not something that happened quite as much with us, mind) but it set the tone and it got the crowd on side immediately.

Wasn’t his record mainly bad against top 10 teams that season

I know we say it a lot but it's ****ing insane to me that we keep smashing Southampton then copying / recruiting the personnel we smashed.

I get a player or managing doing incredibly against you then trying to sign them.

But we might be the only club in history obsessed with doing the opposite.

Of course we can give credit, even if it was the case of being a tap in.

But the warnings signs were well and truly there for all to see, from Enzo's veiled criticism of the board and even Vardy's not-so-veiled dig at the parade. Rodgers had already criticised the board long before and Enzo, Cooper, RVN and Rowett all did as well in more-or-less candid ways.

They can have credit for signing his contract. There is no credit in terms of tapping him up are any strategic thinking.

Just has to be the Glover connection. It’s insane I agree.

We signed three of the squad which we dicked 9-0, including two of the back four.

It's genuinely inexplicable.

What you need to understand is that 1. it is never, ever his fault; 2. it’s never, ever down to his tactics, it’s always a mentality/ bravery issue; and 3. he will never, ever change it.

Everything clicking into place is always just around the corner. Plan B is to do Plan A better. He always knows best. You just need to trust the process.

In the Russell Martin post-match interview lifecycle you’re currently at the ‘Everyone’s hurting, but if they just did what I tell them they’d be fine’ stage.

Wait until you move onto the ‘I’m going to actively smirk and scoff at any suggestion that my approach might be the problem’ stage. It’s usually accompanied by a dig at the fans for not clapping along while you give up soft goal after soft goal.

When you reach that point it’s a good sign, as that’s usually the beginning of the end.

Fantastic response.

This blokes a psychopath

As a club we've been mainly dealing with agents in recent years and Maresca was part of the Wasserman agency along with many of our players at the time. It's not unreasonable to think there had been contact between the club and the agent.

I'm sure McCarthy was in goal when slabhead scored the winner that went through him too.

Southampton are a good club but this level of obsession and taking their dross is beyond weird

It's worth noting that we actually managed to get dicked 9-0 AGAIN the following season (by an average Man Utd side), and McCarthy was in goal for that one.

It's infuriating that the rest of the footballing world has nailed it, yet our incompetent clowns in the boardroom haven't got a clue.
