A 3 year deal when they were bidding against precisely nobody. Like a lot of the signings as well.

Yet people on here will claim we have not choice but to offer these deals. Will Smallbone had loads of other options! How else were we meant to secure his services!

How do you expect us to compete with Preston and Cardiff!

Obviously if the choice was between no deal and a 1 year deal with an option to extend, he would have taken no deal!

You think there is a person alive that wanted Cooper out but Rudkin in?

Yes i absolutely do.....all the indoctrinated happy-clappers for a start.

Two things can be true at once.

Cooper was an awful appointment and surely you can’t forgive him for his bizarre obsession with PL experience that saw us spunk a large % of our budget on Reid (wages and still here), Skipp and Ayew.

I thought it was the DoF who was in charge of transfers and player recuritment?

Again, why are they mutually exclusive? Both needed rid.

We needed rid of one more than the other....and we got that the wrong way round.

Who knows what might have happened with Cooper....but would it have been any worse that what the other one has done to our club?

If that’s the case, let’s pretend that Russell’s had no involvement with any transfers this summer?! 🤦🏻‍♂️

It may well have happened already but the club could be waiting on a more appropriate time to reveal it to the press.

Agreed plus there will be contractual stuff to iron out and legals/NDA’s etc so could be done but may well be tomorrow before it’s announced if anything has actually happened

Has there been anything to even suggest they are considering it from any source at all ?

Nope and its not happening. Martin is KPs man, the one the desperately wanted. He will get as long as he wants.

From Top’s interview in January:

“We sit and talk through the list of the players. When the manager comes to talk and says: ‘I want this player,’ the head of scouting and Jon then need to explain. I am going to listen.

“The whole table has to say yes. If Jon or the manager says no, we change targets. We have been working like that for the last 10 or 15 years.”

Which suggests that the Manager has a role to play in recruitment. The question is does the Manager start with the names, or does he get some names from scouting first? Based on some of the players we’ve signed for Martin, you do wonder if the names came from the Manager first rather than recruitment…

Of course, these statements, spoken as they were by an individual whose English is fairly broken are potentially doing a disservice to the actual process, but still - the closest thing we have to the horse’s mouth on the subject.

Sean Dyche wouldn't be an upgrade on him.

Not just an upgrade a complete change of direction something this ownership is not capable of doing we are going round in a loop

Percy bomb at 10pm ?

Reckon RM will get sacked or receive the so-called vote of confidence (unless Top has defended him publicly recently?).

Cooper was not the answer. Like Martin, he was very much a wrong option at the worst time. People keep bringing up that he steered us above the relegation zone, but that's being disingenuous. We were comfortably among the three worst performing teams under him, both observationally and statistically. We had some late flourishes in games that got us points after we'd been nowhere for 70+ minutes. Under him we bought some absolute dross, with El Khannouss being the only one we didn't lose a lot of money on.

Rudkin/Top, you can very much argue, failed by sacking Rodgers too late. Then he/Top made the Enzo appointment which was a resounding success whichever way you look at it.
Neither probably had too much say in Maresca leaving for Chelsea, so that was hardly a fail.

If Rudkin was to be sacked then, it would have be on the back of employing Cooper who was failing, so I just don't see what point you're trying to make here.

My cat would be an upgrade on Russell Martin. Get him gone.

Literally not having a manager at all would be an upgrade on Martin since the tactics he employs only serve to help the opposition.

Don't be silly.  I have never heard a single voice in support of Rudkin.  You're making shit up to support the ridiculous statement you made yesterday.
