Looking at yesterday up until half time as that is when I left, patterns of play have stopped. There isn't any coherent attacking style, bar get it to the wingers who are then isolated. Go back as that's the only option or put a crap cross in. That's it.

As there isn't any pattern, we end up going sideways and backwards because no one knows who is supposed to do the box crashing run so the all stop, or get in each others way. This causes stray passes, and easy to counter attack.

Savage isn't a tactical genius, he was using basic setup that a Sunday league team could do. But that is all you need to do...give it to the fastest winger and run. That's it as there is so much space.

Faffing football got us relegated 3 times and it's happening again. This was the season to modernise and bring in a forward thinking coach. But they are incapable of doing that.

Until he's gone it's not going to improve and we can't afford to give him more time. I hate we're having to change manager again, but that's on the club. Will they get it right next time...? Nope, and relegation is now a real worry.

Correction until KP are gone.

I’m a Saints fan but ever since the 3-4 last season, I’ve held a curiosity on how you guys get on. This interest was piqued furthermore when Russell Martin was appointed.

Quite frankly, I feel like I’m viewing a horrific accident and I’m rubbernecking the disaster, over and over.

Thanks to a lack fixture clashing, I’ve been able to watch 6 of the league games this season for Leicester so I’d like to think I’ve got a good sample size now to give my observations.

This looks NOTHING like a Russell Martin team. With the exception of a few flashes and dominant display at Barnsley, by now you should be seeing orchestrated patterns of play. This isn’t evident at all. Smallbone will help with this if/when he breaks into the team but in its current form, there’s no one there knitting the aimless over-cooking of the ball.

Lack of leadership. At Southampton, we had some proper shithouses who would rally the team and manage the on field attitude. Stephens, Bednarek, THB, Downes. From what I have seen so far, it looks like Lundstram is the only natural leader.

Recycling of the same tired players: Thomas, BDCR - I just don’t see what they offer. They remind me of players that a team ‘carry’. When they’re in a successful side, these type of players look level par with the rest out there. In a poor team, their inadequacies show.

Also IMO, some of the players simply aren’t ready or good enough yet. There’s been a lot of talk about the youngsters at LCFC and whilst they’ve shown some promise in spurts, I can’t say in the games I’ve seen the level of consistency required to play this type of football. Page has been the most solid, Alves the most exciting (though with less end product than I’d have hoped for) and Braybrook for all his bustling energy seems a little too lightweight at the moment.

Lack of energy (this is two-fold): I’m not going to fob you off and say that it’s all sunshine and roses on the south coast under Martin. With the ball, we had our moments of overplaying the ball and ponderous build up many times.

Eventually, when we had worked our way up the field with the ball, there was always an ‘explosive’ outlet which enabled us to go up the gears in the game; Armstrong, Adams, Fraser, Brooks, Edozie etc.

Without the ball, we pressed with far more gusto. Downes would usually sit infront of the defence and would guard us laterally (this sometimes was overrun) and the remaining forward players would be far more energetic and close the opposition down a lot quicker. What I’m seeing here is… a complete lack of energy and maybe effort. Perhaps there isn’t ‘buy in’ from some of the squad?

The most baffling thing for me though has been the recruitment. This should be Martin’s team as he’s overseen the squad overhaul.

Leicester effectively started the season without a recognised defensive midfielder until Lundstram arrived. A key component of Martinball is to have that defensive shield against counter attacks yet it wasn’t until part way through the season that one arrived. That should have been the first acquisition Martin made. Truly mind boggling.

There’s been a lot of talk about ‘giving someone a hiding soon’ but I’ve yet to see any evidence of that in the previous games. There still seems to be a fragility in adversity and a lack of attacking nous when going forward. I feel for you guys as it’s been a really, really disappointing watch so far.

Still, it’s a long season but Martin really needs to figure out his best eleven or he’ll be out of another job by the next international break.

Best of luck; apologies for rubbernecking.

Thanks for your analysis, this isnt surprising at all, basically we want to play a certain way, but dont build a squad for it, we have also consistently had energy and motivational issues since moving in to Seagrave.   The conditions are simply too good.

The owner and DoF simply think it can be coached in to any player.

It’s weird that Seagrave has consistently proven to be counter intuitive to players attitudes.

You’d think they’d be cock-a-hoop with having those facilities and they’d step it up, not ease off.

From my perspective, the recruitment has been the most baffling. I don’t see Russell Martin signings. Maybe we’ve not seen enough of Bristric, Chaplin, Kangasniemi and they might end up proving that they are but based on his current selections and the players we have seen play, I can’t see it.

McCarthy was ok for us but for Martin to sign him for you was baffling. Martin benched him for most of our promotion season for Bazunu the ghost. O’Hora doesn’t seem comfortable with the ball at his feet. Lundstram I can understand. Burns is one paced (conversely, if that’s your ‘Fraser’ signing, Fraser had pace). Riis looks decent but isn’t given the service.

Then there's the young players who’ve signed on loan who I don’t actually see how they ‘fit’ his system (Watson, Howell, McFarlane etc).

It’s very hard to draw the parallels with this recruitment vs the ones he made at Saints when it was evident ‘why’ those players were signed and for what purpose.

I’m not even a Leicester fan and I’m perplexed.

I was thinking if you ditch Martin, who would be a good choice? Personally, I’d go get Simon Grayson to get you out of L1. That might be his ceiling, but he does at least know how to get fallen giants out of the league.

Funny how he always references the hard work and intensity he sees on the training ground, where literally nobody else will see, yet we see the complete opposite every 90 minutes

But they didnt say which morning

The Seagrave thing might be an issue but don't think so really.

The issue is we have, Owners that employ incompetent people below them, Then the people below them do the same thing and in cascades through the whole organisation.

To be fair, Ayew had bags of Premier League experience, he had been relegated from it with three different clubs already!

It's so frustrating because I still believe that if we sack him, we'll get promoted.

That said, even if we were to get promoted, theres probably only Page and Riis who would be good enough for the championship, and one of them won't be here by then.

Seen absolutely nothing to suggest that any of the others are good enough for this league (inc the youngsters)

I thought his post-match interview was a disgrace. The blame was on everyone but himself.

Saturday was his 4th home game and his results are;

Leicester 1-2 Burton Albion

Leicester 2-0 Plymouth

Leicester 0-4 Oxford

Leicester 1-3 Petermorough

Those three defeats are all probably in the territory of "worst EVER Leicester result" yet this moron has managed them nearly back to back to back. The fact he's still here suggests one of three things.

1. The club cannot afford to sack him because they've snookered themselves again by hiring a manager on a ridiculous contract.

2. The owner does not care.

3. The sporting director's ego is too big to accept responsibility for hiring such an incompetent manager.

The reality though is that it's probably all three.

I really don't know if I should be surprised though. Ultimately these are unchartered waters. No club has hung on like this and pretended everything is going well whilst the world is burning around them.

Saturday's Anthony Herlihy's masterclass in "see look we are communicating" by putting Rudkin in front of a microphone but only responding to questions with statements like "we have to have accountability" or "we have to trust the process" etc. Only serves to make the divide between fans and the club bigger. When are actual answers going to be given to questions like "What does John Rudkin actually have to do to get sacked?" or "Why is the manager insistent on building attacks through Alex McCarthy?".

His behaviour since Tuesday has been a complete disgrace. His lack of composure to an idiot fan was pathetic, as was his managerial performance against Stevenage. He's had weeks with this team and had made them worse.

Then he disappears straight after the final whistle, and only the younger players stayed out to face the fans. Any experienced player buggered off quicker than the manager did (they are all mostly his mates - so why not).

Then he gives this interview blaming everyone but himself, and gives another interview saying 'changing the manager won't help'

An ANY other walk of life this is all disciplinary stuff. Instead, last week Russell got to sign yet another one of his mates.

Sacking is the fix when you're in charge you absolute melt. Rangers 8th when you got the boot and they finished 3rd.

We'll still end up having a disappointing season, but probably a mid table one rather than a relegation battle.

Russell is a boil on the face of a cancer-riddled body. Sure, lance it, but the issues are so much deeper.

It's really hard to tell how good our squad could actually be or not, under Martin. But it feels hard to believe the level of managerial underperformance is so bad that Martin = relegation and anyone else = promotion.

Our squad is more than good enough with a decent manager in charge. Should have sacked him weeks ago and appointed a decent manager, similar to what Norwich did with Lambert and ended up winning the league (I know that was only after 3 games but it goes to show what a forward thinking board can do). I still believe we can turn it around and end up top 6, just without Martin. Trouble is I don't trust our board to appoint a decent manager. We haven't had once since Maresca.

I agree - I think with a decent appointment we could still salvage this season. My gut says it would just be someone like Manning and more of the same though.

And we cant give our club credit for appointing Maresca. He literally just turned up and appointed himself the day after after Man City won the treble. If he hadnt applied, god knows who we would have ended up with.
