Well he's here now, so may as well get behind him. There needs to be some serious incomings and outgoings now, we've got the manager situation sorted, we literally can't afford to hang around. Need to give him a squad that can get us out of this league, and if he truly wants a cultural reset then there are about 5-10 players who need to be bombed out before the players return for pre-season.

He'll either take us up and the hierarchy will all be patting themselves on the back and filling open top buses with Thai influencers, regardless of how we do it and what it means for our chances in Championship, or he'll get sacked by Christmas and they'll put all of the blame on the toxicity from the fans.

My prediction is that he will get us up, but it will be awful. The atmosphere will be flat and we'll have a few runs during the season that will surface all of the toxicity that exists right now. The club will celebrate it like it's our greatest achievement, but no one will be optimistic going into the Championship. He'll then be gone by October the following season, leaving us with no money to spend and a squad ill-suited to anyone else. It will then take us 4 weeks to hire Lee Johnson.

Ok he wouldn't have been my first choice, but neither was Pearson or Ranieri, so I will reserve judgement till I see what sort of squad he can cobble together to play his style of football. One thing I do know is that after the last two seasons things can't get much worse.

Not happy with this appointment, I feel we could have done so much better. Haven't we learn't anything in giving out 3 year Contracts to people who have continued to fail.

I just hope he smat enough to bring in a Defensive Coach. Then maybe he might just win over some Fans with results.

who else would you have gone with?? i'm not being pedantic... I'm just interested....

Who were the truly realistic prospects that would have been happy to manage us in League One, with no money and a boat load of expectation??

I'm no fan of the Martin Appointment (rFm) but I also don't know who else we could have secured...

This might seem pedantic to some but given this is the first appointment since we brought in McCarron and supposedly restructured, it annoys me that it doesn't say "confirmed as the new First Team Head Coach."

If we still think he's the manager we haven't learned a lot.

Martin wouldn't accept a job in League One without being firmly involved in recruitment.

Rudkin still being here is all you need to see if you're judging how much we have learned. While he is here it will always be about operating beyond our means to the point where we just can't any more.

Interesting that national media are saying this is a coup/fantastic appointment for us, for example Jason Burt at the Telegraph, Alex Crook at Talksport, Nick Mashiter at BBC Sport - not had this amount of support in the press for a managerial decision since Rodgers as the jury was out on Maresca (except fanboy Balague of course).

Like many, was disappointed when I first heard the news but open-minded and want this naturally to succeed.

I think there is a big gap between where the footballing world seems to see him and where he realistically is based on results and performances of his teams.

He is a bit of an enigma, people in and around the game really like him and talk about him like his just this misunderstood genius. But the reality is bar a that 20 odd game run with Southampton hes been largely mediocre at best everywhere other than rangers where he was dreadful.

I think its an appointment that is realistic to where he is career is at

Well, think like most i am not happy about this appointment.

Have 0 choice but to back the manager for now. Man is on eggshells, better turn into prime pep or will get dusted quick.

For the love of football, turn this man into a football manager messiah not a  likely clown lol.

We go round and round in circles on this. Dave Challinor has just left Stockport and has a flawless record of getting his teams into the play-off places at least every season. He would almost certainly have been obtainable as well.

If challinor takes a job say at Sheffield Wednesday then I think most would agree with you, but if he doesn’t take a job, it’s entirely possible he left Stockport for some time off and that’s why we haven’t gone for him.

There's plenty of people out there who would have taken the job knowing that they could get us back to the Championship without too much effort.

Foreign managers and Good Coachs just looking for a break to show their talent.

Personnally I liked the sound of Hake, A Dutch Coach with some proven backround who's been around the block.

I feel giving someone who's failed in his last few jobs a 3 year Contract is just further evidence that we are still not learning from our mistakes.

It should be a 1 year contract with a Bonus and further year based on league position or promotion. Any Manager who feels he's good enough would back himself.

If he doesn't then he's only a shister and we've had enough of them lately.

Martin is going to have to put together a new young team and yet he has to hit the ground winning, Otherwise he'll be under early pressure and trouble.

Horrified by this decision but I m prepared to give him a couple of games to see if he has learn any lessons from previous disasters. Glad I m not attending anymore.

Potter to replace him in December?

I'm not confident about his appointment, but, then again, I thought (along with most fans and the punters) that Claudio was going to be a disaster. Football's a funny game.

I'll get behind him because obviously we want to see the club move forwards instead of backwards, just don't think it will be easy with the state of the recruitment and the two idiots in charge.

Just can't see it working until they are gone but hopefully it does.

If you look at his managerial record at his previous clubs it’s remarkable in that GD at each club is very close in terms of goals scored v goals against. Also games won and lost are remarkably close in terms of won and lost.

By now we should be hearing far more rumours in terms of players in and yes players out. The first competitive game potentially is what about 7 weeks away.
