Hamza is a stain on this club. my Sheff United mate couldn’t believe we were still playing him as he was so shit at United.

Hopefully Martin will remind Thomas that he is a footballer, not someone whose sole purpose is to pass the ball back to the cb no matter what or trying to body slam attackers.  This has to be the final chance.

It doesn’t help having winger in front that doesn’t seem to enjoy doing the things that wingers want to.

Hopefully this new left back will put Thomas under pressure and make him achieve some consistancy. As you say it doesn't help any full back when the Winger doesn't want to help out.

I'm hoping these are the type of things Russell will see and sort out. He doesn't need to beat every full back either, A simple give and go can save him getting clattered, Or run in behind to receive it over the top.

I definitely want to see Hamza go. Here's been here too long now without ever making the step up needed. I also think he'd be a bad influence on the younger players.

Thomas I feel has more to give and I think Russell will improve Thomas especially at this level.

I maybe wrong here, but hasn't he been made captain, at certain times by 2 managers ? It is really odd they do this if he is so bad. They must see something.......or just choose to ignore his faults.

We got opened up constantly by 1-2s between wingers and fullbacks. We would try it every so often but Mav refused to pass and Fatawu wouldn’t never run forward into space.  Thomas and Ricardo became comfortable being boring passing back at every chance.  The first half against Soton we were doing it with ease, the second half I’ve wiped from my memory,

While this is a very real concept and goes against the best person for the Job, regardless of his limitations on the pitch from what I see and hear Hamza is a strong personality and a leader in the dressing room. That's why he gets picked !

Like us all while he's fcked up with some of his antics off the pitch.

I don't think he should be, I'd imagine RM has other's in mind, Conor Chaplain maybe. But whether you like it or not he is a strong personality and does care for the club and we have had too many shrinking violets in this team and those that just don't care. Is he the best option at present probably not but there is kind of a logic as to why he gets picked !

I think him being a strong personality in the dressing room says more about the players rather than his leadership skills.

He’s a shit footballer, has a history of racist and sexist social media comments, anti Semitic support, the Covid parties while others stayed professional (I was against lockdown controls so I’ll let that slide 😂) and he’s a millionaire yet chose to drive while drunk who knows how many times beyond getting caught. What is there in his nature or personality that could stand out?

He isn’t even good enough to ignore all the negatives.

Possibly, But then again you have a realise who the Managers were that gave him the job. I seen a lot of him as a dev player and he was excellent. Since getting his chance he hasn't stepped up to that next level. He promises a lot but mostly falls short. Which is a shame because he could be so much better.

If he was a  outstanding  footballer  he could get away with  some things, but he not ,he shit and shouldn't  be anywhere  near the first eleven, but we're  stuck  with him  cause of his stupid inflated  wages.

I think most are agreed that we have to get promoted this season, no questions asked. Some may say results over performances are key. However for me, the club really needs to get the fans back on side and quickly. Winning games of course helps. But if we were to win our opening 3 games, 1-0 and play like we did today, that to me, will not win the fans over. Most want to be entertained. We understand the level we are at but we should be not be accepting of piss poor performances at this level. Last time we were in this league we absolute smashed it under Pearson and thats what the expectation should be this season. We are in a very different situation to the Pearson era but there can still be no excuses for any form of failure this season in either results of performances. Im not expecting to win 5-0 every week, but i expect some level of entertainment.

My two young lads aged 5 and 8 are getting into football now and im going to be taking them to their first games this season, and I genuinely fear for them and all youngsters wanting to start watching LCFC, that they will quickly lose interest with how boring our games are potentially going to be. My 8 year old after 20 mins today said "daddy im bored as they are just passing it around".

I get its the first game and I get we need a striker etc, but given Martin's previous record, I have serious concerns about both our results and performances this season.

I’ll sound like a broken record but I never wanted Martin and we should have done everything in our power to get Challinor.
Change this nonsense about playing tippy tappy shit and get Challinor in who hadn’t finished below 5th in league 1.
Instead we hire a manager whose best finish in this division is mid table.
It baffles the mind how clueless these twats are.

You need to be patient. This style of play is new. It's a totally new style of play.

His appointment has Rudkin rubbish stamped all over it

For some it’ll be early days as the excuse for that performance. Sign of things to come and predictable for others. For me we could have won that game playing any system because we have better players. This regurgitated boring chess style football just made things harder than needed. Gonna be a long season.

Time and patience we can’t afford. We’re in sudden death territory. We must get promoted for the future of his club, it’s as simple as that. And he will not deliver it.

Rudkin basically just googles anyone readily available and who has some sort of connection with Southampton.

Also previous experience in the division.
The sooner we have new owners the better.

Hard disagree.

More of the same for me. Different players, different management, different league, just the same.

Do you think Bristol City fans have already written Michael Skubala off after losing against a team 2 divisions lower than them yesterday in their first semi competitive game of the season?

Or is this more of an irrational hatred of Russell Martin? We had ALOT of posters on here clamouring for Skubala to come here (rightly so, he's good), but do you think we'd have the same levels of ridicule, negativity etc aimed at him if he'd have come here and we'd lost today? Bare in mind, we actually won today too 😂
