I think it's probably starting to dawn on him that he's been spun a yarn in terms of signings. There's no money, there never has been. It'll break soon enough I think and the worst thing is that a huge proportion of our supporters will be surprised about it.

More fool him. It’s not like there hasn’t been mountains of evidence and nothing a cursory due diligence report would have told him.

From memory the last time we played Notts County on an opening day was the 83-84 season in the old first division at home. We were battered 0-4.🤔

I was at that game. IIRC the legendary Martin O'Neill was playing for them. We had the not so legendary Mark Grew in goal. I think we lost our opening 6 league games that season, but somehow managed to stay up quite comfortably.

Me too. We were lucky to get nil. Notts County played like Brazil.

A very rude awakening to the top flight!

Was that the season saved by the signing of Big Bob Hazell?

Yes I think it was. Just checked and we didn't win until our 11th league game (lost 8 and drew 2 of the first 10).

Not sure how we managed to stay up. Shipman out!

Has anyone done a tactical analysis on the friendly matches? Just wondered if there’s anything different showing in his approach to when he was at Rangers and Southampton.

@StriderHiryu ?

I went to our next game, also at home when we lost 0-3 to Luton.

Mainly through  Lineker, Smith ,and Lynex think they got 50 odd goals between  them .

Lineker scored 22 that season AND we had the Prime Ministerial midfield of Ramsey, Wilson & Macdonald.

1st half decent team since Jimmy Bloomfield.

We beat Notts  County 5-2 at their place.

We finished 15th.

BOTTOM 6!!  Were Midlands teams (not us), Brum, Notts County & Wolves went down.

Anyone else worried that with so many posts about fitness, hard work and running that its going to inevitably end with us being burned out by January lol

No, this is all to ensure that doesn't happen.

I am worried that we have a paper thin squad that is very young now and that generally means injuries.

I'll take that rather than every game being knackered after 65 minutes

Not paying £20 to watch pre-season and you can't make a detailed tactical analysis from watching YouTube highlights.

I am so upset and disappointed with the club right now. When the season starts I will get to it, but I cannot stand the regime in charge right now and have been concentrating on the World Cup instead.

I believe I speak for everyone, well, some of us, maybe a few, or just me at least, when I say: ABSOLUTELY UNDER-F'ING-STANDABLE :P  :(

And please don't think for one moment i was demanding a detailed analysis from you :) I was actually saying to my boy the other day that we have really missed your videos. Totally understandable given everything.

And if I remember correctly wolves dropped all the way down to div 4 in consecutive seasons.
