KDH was also getting pelters for not being good enough for a large portion of his time here.

"Too one footed" etc

Our fans our overly harsh on our young players and too lenient on the senior pros who are actually responsible for our downfall.

And remember how when KDH broke through and was performing well, those people then started on the ‘he’s from Nottingham’ and ‘supports Man Utd so not one of our own’ lines.

I look forward to seeing what people use to try and pull Nelson down when he goes elsewhere and performs well.

Nelson has had one full season with us and you have already written him off.

The likes of Winks, Faes and Skipp have had multiple seasons of failure for us yet were quite regularly referred to as "our best player", "our best defender" and "championship quality" over the course of last season when they should only be referred to as "sh*t".

Just seen that apparently it is £6 million we have turned down from Torino. Obviously don’t know what the make up of the deal were or conditions etc but if it was actually £6 million straight up, what are we playing at rejecting that?

He has 1 year left, made it clear he won’t re-sign and will walk for free as so many others have.

Just take the £6 mill. £10 mill is delusional!

Because there interest from other clubs, why take the first or second bid?

We have few genuine assets, in Nelson, Fatawu and Souttar, we need to maximum income.

To early in the window to complain, if he's here once it closes and doesn't sign fair enough.

We have got a little better at selling younger players lately 12m for McAteer, 10m for Cannon etc.

It’s extremely rare for any club even us to accept the first offer for a player.

The exception would be if there was a release clause in any player’s contract.
Like with Fatuwo I hope we have a decent sell on clause in the deal.

I think Nelson has been harshly treated. He had a couple of poor games then Rowett wouldn’t touch him. He would suit the new manager a lot better than Okoli yes he makes some mistakes but he is more comfortable on the ball. If he goes need a sell on clause 6 million so cheap

If the first bid we received was £6m then there will definitely be room to go higher than that

We are a League 1 club. £6 mill is a great price for a reserve centre back with 1 year left on his contract. We will just drive buyers away and lose him for free by setting unrealistic valuations again.

About half that amount is reasonable.

Do you think we think the 6mill is going to be only offer. If an Italian club are will to bud actual money (let alone 6mill) we will get more than that. He is young, has bags of potential and English. League 1 or not I think we get more for him and I think they know that.

You mention a price half that. If we sold  ben nelson for 3 million that would be ridiculous business. Baffling you would think otherwise.

How much do you think a reserve League 1 defender with a year left on contract should go for?

Maybe we are aware of other clubs interest and that we can get a better deal from one of those. If Man United are interested then there is every chance we get up to £10m

Including some add ons and a % of any future profit.

I’m sure it is.

I’m just making the point that people are happy to slag him off, call him L1 quality etc then have a fit when it is suggested another club could offer £6 mill.

For what it’s worth, I rate him highly as a future PL player and think whoever buys him from us makes a big profit. But people slating him then moaning about the fee can’t have it both ways.

The facts are, we are a L1 club in dire straights, he was a reserve last season so it doesn’t really matter what his importance would be this season. And importantly, a year left so can agree with an overseas club from January.

Basically, if anyone pays £10 mill to us when they can get him for free soon, they are daft. If we put the shoe on the other foot, it was another club quoting us this when we were in the PL, we’d be laughing at them.

He's not a reserve cb, he's a 22 yo academy graduate at the very start of his career.  The finished article should be at the very least a Premier League player.  A buying club is buying that potential and its only because we are in dire straits that we should even entertain £10m.

The club has a much better grasp of market interest than we do. For instance, we’ve already received bids from Borussia Mönchengladbach and Torino, while Manchester United and West Ham remain interested.

While most of us would have sold McAteer for £3 million, the club managed to secure £12 million. Ultimately, teams aren’t paying for his current output because they are investing in his potential, and I expect we will likely find a middle ground with a buyer around the £8 million mark.

The manchester united rumour definitely has legs to it. If we can get 10m plus add ons and a sell-on fee, that is great business in the position we are in.

I know he's been stop start but the environment has been honking for our young players and with that team now in 4 competitions, its a great opportunity to play in the top flight.

Why is he reserve? Is that nailed on, what even is a reserve, seriously outdated term. Adds zero relevance to what you saying. Make no mistake, If Ben Nelson is here next year, he is a starting CB. Wild to think otherwise.

He was too one footed to start with.  BR didn’t seem to coach him to stop slowing down to turn 270 degrees to make a pass.  Enzo turned him into a really good player that drove forwards and made passes all over rather than killing momentum.

Nelson was solid at first next to JV, then he started playing like him. Maybe a new manager and now the rot has gone, he can hopefully show us what he can really do.
