Is there a potential Wembley final here?

Ive not forgiven Pearson over losing to Rotherham in the Johnstones Paint Trophy.

 

Martin has an opportunity to do something NFP could not.

We’ve never won this, so I’d love to see us go all out to win it personally. It’s only this and Legaue Two titled needed to complete English football.

I despise the situation the ownership have put us in but I want us to win every competition we enter.  It would also be nice for my youngest daughter to see something worth cheering about after having only seen the last few years of shite. 
We’d also be the only premier league winners in history to go on to win the efl trophy. Possibly the only first division winners ever. Unless Blackburn or Bolton or someone won it previously.

I reckon we should go down to the National League for a lark so we can win that and the FA Trophy too

Agreed. It shouldn't be beyond us to win the Johnstones Trophy if we get some momentum going in the league. Especially with the big squad we have.

 

It would give everyone a big lift and something to cheer about.

Lines of thinking like this are interesting.

 

Last heard when we went up under Maresca and the trophy parade was on. People wanted their young kids to have something to celebrate in the same way they had with proper achievements in the past.

 

But unfortunately if we bring our youth up to think that winning the EFL trophy or getting out of The Championship with a squad full of internationals is something to really cheer/shout about then they’ll grow up with the ‘little old Leicester’ mindset. I’d much rather they were taught from early on that the club could and should be so much more than it is right now.

 

The day we win a proper trophy again (which we will - just might take a few decades), it’ll mean so much more.

 

I want us to win it, for the hilarity of being just League Two away from completing the domestic set, but if we do I’ll clap politely as the trophy is lifted and then turn on my heels and walk out of Wembley without further fanfare.

I'm not ready to consign my daughter's football related happiness to the dustbin until her late twenties just to prove a point that the club completely screwed up.  I won't be dancing in the street at the idea of a EFL trophy win and will probably react similarly to you but I think you're wrong that allowing kids to enjoy some moments of light relief along the way back to the higher echelons of football (which may never happen - you might get your full domestic set in the next couple of years) creates little old Leicester mindset. They can understand where we should be in the pyramid but still enjoy what's in front of them. Responding in the way you suggest is knocking on the door of being a Forest fan still thinking they're massive because they won something 40 years ago and their dad was there to see it.  I'm trying to find a balance between the two.

Remember that game well, played at the depressing Don Valley Stadium on a freezing cold night in front of about 2000 spectators
