We've been linked with some proper dross. At least Conor Chaplin is a name we've actually heard of and he's under 30, and he's had at least some pedigree in the last 2 or 3 years

Last 2 seasons have been mediocre from him. Last season he had a similar attacking output to Vestergaard and Luke Thomas.

If we're getting the Chaplin from 22/23 and 23/24 then we should be all over it but considering he hasn't been good for a while it's definitely a risk.

All those seasons run through 3 differing levels though.  Having been shit in the Premier League isn't neccesarily a great issue.

I think he’s only tailed off as they’ve gone up the divisions. Ideally we’d get him on a 1 year contract and then bin him off if we get promoted.

3 year contract incoming then.

He was poor in the championship last season as well though and Ipswich not playing him despite him being a 20+ g+a midfielder at that level 2 seasons prior indicates that he's tailed off a bit.

I'm just saying it's one of those signings that could easily go poorly, not that he's someone we should outright avoid. He could rediscover some form with us if he does come.

Rumour Chaplain has chose Lincoln City over us.

Not sure how true this is because  he currently overseas doing intense sessions with his PT.

Anyone heard anything similar?

Nah not heard that. I think Chaplin is still coming. We are waiting for the Monga sale + Chaplins Portugal training camp to conclude.

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't end up here.

You'd hope that our £100 million training ground and team of coaches might be slightly more effective than a PT in the Algarve but then again, I've seen the results of Seagrave.

You'd think so. But it also may be column A and column B. Maybe we can't make the deal happen until Monga goes. So the club have told Chaplin he can keep training in Portugal.

That statement is mental. How far we have fallen.

May as well pack it in if this is the case. Won't be long before Harborough are beating us to players at this rate!

At this rate the fictional team, Harchester United are more likely to sign a professional footballer than us.

Pretty sure we don't have to be contracted to players for them to start training at our facilities.

Antonio for example, or we've had ex players come back and train with us such as Danny Simpson.

correct.

I caught up with my mate who served him when he was in quorn the other week.

He appeared non committal and undecided according to my mate, but then again he wouldnt be able to say if he was coming or not.

Very strange he in Portugal though, i be pretty suprised if he signed now tbh

To be honest who can blame him. Lincoln probably have better prospects than us.

This really is becoming a sad state of affairs isnt it.

I am hoping its fake news as he be a good addition in the 10 role IMO

I'm sorry to say but I'm not sure that there has actually been a credible source that Leicester are actually interested in Conor Chaplin.

It seems the only report that's come out is from the Football League World by a random 20-something assistant editor, hardly David Ornstein, most likely click-bait that we're desperately holding onto as we've got nothing else!

Exclusive: Leicester City plotting £0 swoop for ex-Ipswich Town star Conor Chaplin - the article other outlets have shared.

I may be wrong, as on paper it makes sense but don't be disappointed if it turns out to be complete BS.

No idea what’s going on with this one. The guy is still adamant it’s done 🤷

Monga’s cash plus Kristiensen and hopefully Winks wages will free a decent amount of money up to fund free agent wages. Will then probably be another round of waiting until we can offload Faes, Okoli and sadly Nelson leaves
