Accept and move him on asap. Amazing we sold out best player, one of the few at PL standard and spent the money on Skipp, Okoli and Ajew. In total flops. And that one player did more in a game than all 3 of them. Defend, drive forward, assist and score. 2

If we get stuck with him I can’t see Martin shoehorning him into the team. Is was disgusting seeing him on the edge of the ball, just to pass backwards.

adejo92 Posted 21 July Posted 21 July I thought Skipp actually looked better towards the end of last season. I think he would be good to keep. He is a solid player, and you need some experience in a team thats going to likely have a few youngsters. The only thing putting me off would be the wages he is likely on. 2

For me I think we're a better team with Choudhury than with Skipp. Choudhury is a bomb scare on the ball but at least he offers some energy in midfield. Skipp just offers nothing. Christ on a bike

Lambert09 Posted 22 July Posted 22 July (edited) I think skipps first ever game for us, he looked quite good. But then his fitness got worse and worse. I’m convinced a fit skipp would look like a different type of player. You’d be surprised what a different manager can do for a player in that aspect Edited 22 July by Lambert09
Jon the Hat Posted 22 July Posted 22 July He has never looked the player who started quite a few games for Spurs and got 20 odd England U21 caps. He might still be in there - perhaps the new Manager can get something out of him. Forget the price, imagine we bought him for Drinkwater money, we might be saying he would be useful this season.

Hamza is a limited footballer but does he have an attitude problem? Wasn’t he one of the few to have the balls to face up to the fans after we got relegated? 5 1
Tommy Fresh Posted 22 July Posted 22 July He's basically not Harry Winks so people think he's not as bad as he actually is 4
les-tah Posted 22 July Posted 22 July (edited) If james mcarron finds a away to break even on skipp he deserves the keys to the city. Edited 22 July by les-tah 1
RichardGearman Posted 22 July Posted 22 July Olly Skipp is the one player i think we won't be able to move on because we need to book at least 15mil to break even. I don't see any championship club paying that fee. My guess is it will be a loan plus wages with obligation to buy at 10m in the next season based on performance. The stumbling block will be what those performance targets are. My suspicion is leicesters preference will be playing 50% of all games, but then thats up to how good he can be in the right team. I don't think he is anywhere near an upgrade on Hayden Hackney (future england international btw) and if he flopps, we miss out on a transfer fee altogether. A team may prefer only signing if they secure promotion, but then that significantly reduces the type of club skipp can sign for. If McCarron can negotiate an exit that covers all basis's then that is seriously impressive because, unfortunately, Olly Skipp has not progressed as a footballer in 5 years now and entering his mid-20s, is not going to improve much further. One of the poorest leicester signings of the modern era and it's not his fault.
jimsmallman Posted 22 July Posted 22 July I don't think there's really been any concrete links with Skipp leaving, has there? Just can't see anyone being interested in him - and I don't dislike him like a lot of people do. It's just expecting someone to pay out a lot of money for not a lot of player. Just because we were daft enough to do it doesn't mean someone else will be!

James and his giant peach Posted 22 July Posted 22 July Never ever in a million years worth anywhere near 20m. We sold KDH and with that money for him bought Skipp and Area. Whoevers decision that was should have been done for war crimes. He's barely a championship player let alone prem standard, it was a shocking Akinbiyi like deal. He doesn't score or assist, he ain't fast or strong he has pretty much zero stand out attributes and yet we paid that for him. It's not his fault and he does at least put effort in but if we think we are getting even half what we paid we are deluded. Either stuck with him or take a huge loss. I'd just let him go in loan and only pay a bit of his wages personally. I'd rather Braybrooke, Page and Alves were ahead of him in midfield.

If we are stuck with him then I won't complain and I actually quite like him. Once the fee is agreed and the player has signed what he cost us is slightly irrelevant. I really want Faes gone though.....
