he is the default captain as he was vice-captain last season not that it matters at this point, Hamza is probably the longest serving player and a local lad and its not like we have a star player we know will be here to use in his place. Russel will pick the captain before the season starts, FWIW if he stays I'd go with Souttar

I’d imagine we’ll wait to see what our incomings and outgoings are before deciding that. If we can keep him, maybe it will be Nelson.  I’d at least prefer Nelson over Hamza  put it that way

It will be the individual that evoked the most passion, willingness, desire and most importantly that energy. A fighter, someone I'd run through walls for myself.

We need to sign a new captain and vice captain, especially if Souttar leaves.

 

Getting the leadership group right is one of the most important things this summer.

 

If Martin sticks it on Hamza, he’ll just make an already pissed off fanbase, even more pissed off.

The lads have been on a gap pre season to India, finding themselves. No one is the captain and everyone is. We are all no one and we are all the only one. You, the fans, are the real captains. To find oneself….. sorry what? I’ve GOT to name one? Winksy, come here me old mucker”.

Skipp is not captain material you want someone with presence and authority of which he has neither. He should be sold anyway

I know it’s a completely different sport but I found it interesting what Michael Atherton said when Duncan Fletcher took over as coach of England in the early 2000s. 
Basically Fletcher said that you need at least 5 or 6 leaders who are also tough characters. That was where the cricket side at the time was lacking massively. 
We have neither leaders or tough characters within this club. 
The more alarming thing is that the manager doesn’t seem to possess either leadership or toughness qualities which what we’ll need next season. 
We need some right bastards on the pitch who don’t give a fvck who they upset. 
Souttar or Nelson are the obvious choices if they stay here. Other than those 2 no one else should be under consideration within the current squad.

Yeh we've gone from having a team of leaders like Huth, Morgan, Fuchs, Kasper, Vardy to having zero leaders. This affects things both on and off the pitch. No voices on the pitch and nobody setting the standards/culture around the club. We also have no leaders running the club which has lead to a lack of standards and professionalism at every level.
