Its not a great deal 😕

But needs must and man city will ruin him

Plenty of examples of young players who've not broken through at Man City but have then gone onto have success at really decent clubs.

Even if it doesn't work out for him there, at least he has a known pathway as long as he performs at youth level.

After how it went with Mukasa I can't see them loaning him to us. They'll loan him to someone like Birmingham I'd imagine.

As much as he's incredibly talented and will go on to have a career way above us, we really just need this to all go through now if it means we're able to start bringing in players in the most important areas that need strengthening

Man city have robbed us, and that so many think this is a good deal, have got used to the club being run so badly.

Monga will either become a successful player with them, or they will sell him for 40 million within a few years.

Take your blue tinted specs off for a minute….

He’s a 16 year old who hardly set the world alight in an abysmal team in the championship last season.  Why should they pay more than 10m?

£10m upfront for potential is actually good for both parties.

We have zero leverage, £10m for Man City is like the average person dropping a fiver behind your couch.

Zero credit however should be given to KPFC/Rudkin as Monga is hardly a hard sell.

How/if we move on the dossers like Winks/Faes etc will be the making of our season, not this easy cash in.

He could've easily refused a contract and moved for about £200k at tribunal with a massive signing on bonus so thank you Jez for that. A massive help to the club in this time.

Birmingham retired Jude Bellingham's shirt number for this reason. I know it's slightly different in that Monga probably thought we'd be a top-end champ/PL team by the time he turned 17 but still deserves a mention

So you would sell an asset which will have 4x value in a couple of years then?  I never said they should pay more now, I just said they have robbed us.

The clubs strategy is a joke right now, and still too many people cant see it.  Ings the first dads army signing funded by it.

I'm not sure you can really quantify his value being essentially in the £40-50mill mark (4x reported fee+) if he were to stay with us.  That's a year at league one level where his value isn't likely to move above what we've actually got for him because well, it's league one, and then on the presumption he was excellent in the following season at Champ level he's still unlikely to be getting anywhere near that.  Certainly could be looking at £25-30millish if he were outstanding  (Hackney to Everton £24m territory) and if we were to get promoted in which case we'd likely not sell.

They've robbed us of his potential.  But actually it's not THEM that's robbed us is it?

Can’t see us getting out of league one. Best thing to cash in now

But he doesn’t have 4 times the value. That’s the whole point.

people need to understand the lower down the pyramid we go the more desperate we are for funds,  and the players value goes down. It’s not rocket science. I don’t see why people don’t understand it..

Correct. If we were still a Championship club, he'd go for £20m+, in the Premier League for £40m+.

They've just announced Charles and an immediate loan out to QPR so may well see similar with Monga.

We can confirm that Leicester City Academy graduate Jeremy Monga has completed a permanent transfer to Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.

Jeremy Monga completes permanent transfer to Manchester City

Academy graduate joined Leicester City at Under-9s level

Winger made his first team debut at the age of 15 in April 2025

Jeremy leaves with our thanks and best wishes for the future

The 17-year-old winger departs after progressing through our Academy, having joined us at Under-9s level and developed through the age groups to break into our First Team setup over the last two seasons.

Jeremy made history in April 2025 when he made his First Team debut in the Premier League against Newcastle United at King Power Stadium, aged 15 years and 271 days, becoming our second-youngest appearance maker and one of the youngest players ever to feature in the highest tier of English football.

He went on to make seven Premier League appearances during the 2024/25 season, before scoring his first senior goal for us against Preston North End in the Championship last term, becoming the youngest-ever goalscorer for Leicester City.

Jeremy’s progress through the Academy and into the First Team reflects the continued strength of our player development pathway, which has consistently provided opportunities for a significant number of young players to progress into senior football in recent seasons.

Everyone at Leicester City would like to thank Jeremy for his contribution to the Football Club and wish him well in the next stage of his career.

Super talent, remember he is only 16! He'll go on to have a great future if managed well. I think we've done good business here, and, hopefully we can now see some signings come in to start our much needed rebuild.
