Amazing to look at 2021 squad. Just the playing staff were conservatively worth £450m on transfermkt (some, like Fofana, went for double their transfermarkt value) at the end of that year. Seagrave cost £100m to build and the stadium with planning was £100m + in value. The value of the club must have been between £750m and £1bn. 5 years later the entire club, women's club, stadium and seagrave are worth £224m asking, £150m likely selling price. That is ****ED Up.

If you were to make a tier list of owners, Ashley would not be on the bottom rung but he would not be far off it.

He is not the worst owner you could have but there are many many others who would be better

In the grand scheme of things 25m isn't that much, youd have assets to easily cover that which is kind of my point.

I've not been following this AT ALL (I tend to ignore things I don't really understand or have any influence over - why do I even like football?) but my Derby mate says the 'strong rumour' over there is that the Turki guy pulled out of the Rams investment as he wants to buy us, with the possibility of ground expansion and new facilities with a view to putting on 'boxing events' being of particular appeal.

What really bugs me is that Top's heart hasn't been in it for at least 3 years and to a degree, it's understandable that he might have lost love for it after his father's death. However, it's completely unacceptable that he didn't do anything about it and that he has virtually ignored the club for so long and allowed things to deteriorate so badly, while just letting it happen.

 

I think most fans would have understood and even supported it if Top had put the club up for sale two or three years ago and just been honest that he didn't have the passion for it following his father's death. I think most would have respected that honesty and his family's legacy would have remained very much in tact.

 

Initially, I guess he thought he was doing the right thing and / or trying to fulfill his father's wishes but it has been so clear for a long time that his heart isn't in it, particularly after COVID hit KP so hard. He should have done this ages ago and we might have still been in the Prem, or worst case, in the Championship. But now he's really ****ed us and himself by just allowing things to drift for so long. I cannot forgive him for that. 

 

I guess my point is that we should never have been in the position we are now. KP have ****ed the club and themselves through sheer negligence and now we're here.

 

Just have to hope the next owners have a record of success in sport, ideally football (obviously) and that they know what they're doing. A non-negotiable has to be that they actually have some passion for LCFC.

Most fan bases are entitled in reality. Albeit, some more so than others. 
 

Yes, we’ve hit a new low, however in my life time, we are a YoYo club for Champs / Prem. 

 

Only so many teams can achieve success. Reality is, this county has a lot of clubs for a small area. It’s great but not not everyone is going to win something every season. 
 

Maybe they start handing out geographical trophies …… like this season’s League 1 Midlands Championship is between us, Notts County, Burton, Mansfield, Peterborough, Cambridge etc 

 

Joking aside; has anyone any inside info on what the bloody hell is going on yet?

Derby had land, space, infrastructure and public transport to support everything Turki would want to do based on what you've said above.

 

We've got shit infrastructure, shit transport links and the arena only had planning for 8k I think?
