I just wish the media would stop with this constant bashing and belittling of our club.  When we won the premier league, the big 6 got together, to abstain to a

decision we must not have another Leicester City.

Premier league and the Efl got together and subsequently changed their own rules in order to hammer and knock us down further.

I genuinely believe, this click bait nonsense is total crap.

If we were close to administration we would have sold all players who bids were made on.

Soutter, Page and a whole firesale of virtually everything.

We would not have signed any players.

Unlike Sheff Wed, our players are still being paid and our owners, who have faults have just wiped off another 8.5 million debt.

Talk sport is renowned for putting out ridiculous ill informed stories in order listeners take the bait and ring in.  That's the whole point of their show.

I am amazed the amount of people who are believing this nonsense.

I just wish the media would leave us alone and pick on someone else.

Of course not, it's a pretty stupid to charge for employees.

Its making national sports news which only fuels the whole administration narrative in the press.

You think it's stupid to charge a player a nominal sum if they choose to make use of the luxury accommodation at Seagrave? I don't.

As for the narrative in the media, should we really be bothered about lazy gossip among ill-informed idiots who couldn't care less about the club? We've got enough on our plate without worrying about nonsense like that.

Do you really feel the club is being 'picked on' by media outlets?

We currently have an owner who still hasn’t got a clue how financial fair play works so I wouldn’t hold out any hope of him knowing if we’re close to administration.

I wouldn't hold out any hope of talkSport doing any serious journalism.

Not a stupid or pointless charge when it is for nights where they aren't required to be at the training ground

Treat it like a hotel and they should have to pay for it like one

The only outlets that brought it up are the click baity shite ones which tells you everything - main source is the same one currently using Ben Jacobs to talk bollocks about us and pretend he is ITK

It’s the same as an employer charging for food at the canteen. Why do people think this is weird? It’s an optional luxury and they’re asking millionaires to pay a pittance for it. Any other line of work and nobody would blink but we’re used to treating every footballer like royalty

maybe, this is actually an attempt to steer players towards moving closer.  so they don’t  rely on staying at the hotel all the damn time, so that they can live far away from Leicester and not get involved locally

I think there's a possibility a few things are going on that threaten our future right now. We can be fairly sure that we continue to require significant owner investment each year to bridge the gap in losses. We are running out of options on arrangements that bring cash flow forward from guaranteed future earnings so we are approaching judgement day there.

This is likely to be why we must now be sold and there will be a date range that without that having happened then administration could be inevitable. There maybe other options to that but you get in a back and forth problem on who and how are they going to fund this football club in the 3rd tier and the economic plan to become prosperous.

It's pretty unthinkable that a prospective new owner would pay £200m for a club that's revenue is vastly less than its costs base in the 3rd tier and with an uncertain path and at the same time we have a current ownership that if they are forced to walk away without any recovery of the hundreds of millions they've injected in will sting. But they can't or aren't willing to return to pumping tens and tens of millions in per year.

I've actually been researching why placing a club in administration might have some perverse benefit to our owners, but i'm not suggesting they would or should but in theory there is some plus points to it if you ignore how horrendous the rest of it is.

An administrator can strip away debt burden, cut unviable operating contracts, and sell the core business and assets (stadium, squad, facilities) to new buyers clear of past liabilities. This can make the business significantly more attractive to potential buyers.

The trade off is 12 point deduction which probably brings another relegation and even less attraction to buy us even for a nominal fee as the stadium and training ground are worth collectively more than £100m but would you pay that? Not to mention all the other awful things that come with admin.

Whatever the goings on, I maintain the view that administration is inevitable in my opinion and/or we will have a change in ownership within a year either way.

I commute a fair distance into work. I have on occasion paid for a cheap hotel (i can get a crap Travelodge with no air con for about £80 if i am lucky). I would NEVER expect my employer to pay for this. This is my personal decision based on where i want to live. This is exactly the same situation here. If the players are too far away its their own choice and they can pay for a night. If they live close they wouldnt need it.

If they were on a business trip (or have to have somewhere overnight cos we are playing Plymouth at 12.30), its a whole different story.

Sensible in my opinion.

I'm not interested in the reasons for the charge, or it's merits.

The point I'm making, this is on the talksport breakfast show with Allan Brazil talking all things Leicester City, fans moaning about boring football, how lucky we are to have RM as the manager because we win 4-3 away from home, the impending administration, the state of our finances and implying that we're that broke we've having to charge players £80 to stop at the club hotel.

"There's no such thing as bad publicity" but we've gone from an exemplar club to a joke organization's in less than 10 years.

I can see us going up this year (Optimistic I know), but then the increase to wage bills etc being the thing that pushes us into administration. Complete fire sale in the summer & a 12 point deduction that see's us go down Sheff Wed style>

Fully rebuild this club with hopefully good owners in 28/29

These people on talksport are paid to talk all day about anything. Asking exceptionally rich footballer to pay £80 for a hotel room is a complete non story. Noone really cares.

Be more worried about the horrific management of the finances.

If we go up i would expect someone willing to take a gamble on us. We have the nexus of a good improving squad, and momentum is really important. Wouldnt think getting promoted would be the catalist to administration personally.

I'd like to think it's one of several changes to make the place more 'work like' than a luxury spa. for example clearing your food and plates etc, putting your dirty kit in the washing bag. The media have probably picked on this as it will provide the most clicks.

I stopped listening to Talk sport when we sacked Rogers. They announced that they would be discussing Leicester's search for a new manager. Less than a minute into the discussion one of the presenters said it was like Chelsea who were also looking for a new manager. The rest of the discussion was all about Chelsea. It shouldn't be called Talk Sport or Talk Football or Talk Premier League, it should be called Talk The Greedy Six because that's pretty much all they talk about.

Leicester City takeover race: Ex-board member shares what he's 'heard' about deal

16 Sep 2026,
Neil Lal effectively has "zero chance" of becoming the new owner of Leicester City in the coming months.

That is according to former Everton chief executive and ex-Premier League board member Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that Lal's plan to buy the club is not "realistic."

This comes after the Scottish-Indian businessman recently revealed that he has made an offer to buy the Foxes, as their King Power ownership look to sell.

However, Wyness has revealed that there are three parties who are in the process of submitting bids for the East Midlands outfit, and he does not see Lal as a realistic owner.

Lal recently revealed that he intends to bypass the bankers involved in the sale of the club, and broker the deal directly with the Leicester board.

However, Wyness has raised genuine concerns about that approach, and feels that the other parties are more likely takeover candidates.

Neil Lal lacks football 'experience'
Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Lal's recent comments have shown a lack of "experience" in the football world.

The businessman recently laid out his plan for if he is successful in his pursuit of Leicester, and it has drawn plenty of scrutiny.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained why he has concerns after Lal's comments.

"I would put it at about zero (chance of takeover). I'm afraid that when you start to bypass the bank that's in charge, you're not serious, in my point of view," he said.

"A lot of what he said, I'm afraid, I've got to discount as not being realistic and not experienced in football.

"I've heard there are three other groups involved, and I'm almost discounting him straight away. That's my point of view."

Leicester may be forced to settle for cut-price deal
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson recently told Football Insider that he is doubtful as to whether Leicester will receive offers above the £200million mark for the club.

King Power have set a valuation of £222m for the entire portfolio, including the stadium and their state-of-the-art training ground.

However, Borson believes they may ultimately have to settle for a lower fee, due the grey area surrounding the club's current standing.

The football finance expert outlined that it is difficult to judge whether the Foxes should be valued as a Championship or League One club, and he expects that to cause issues during the takeover process.

I don’t really get what Neil Lal is trying to do because he’s just made himself look a complete tit. Anyone watching with half a brain just knows he isn’t serious.

The British press has long held the reputation for building up a person/club only to knock it down at the first opportunity.  It creates juicy headlines which supposedly increase sales.

Our fabulous Prem win followed by our fairly swift demise fits the bill perfectly.

That's also how Sky does it. The build up to our matches starts off pre-viewing our soon to kick-off game but they quickly find some link to ManU or Liverpool and talk about them. At least that's how it used to work, I cancelled my subscription years ago.
