Just goes to show that we can win games without playing high risk possession football and having 70% possession without getting out of our own half. Hopefully he takes it on board and realises his managerial carrer is at stake if he can't getting us at the right end of this shit league.

Yet again appalling subs from Martin, all momentum lost once he started to make changes

Subs came too late, especially the two last ones.

Doubt it will make a huge difference long term but good to actually leave the ground in a decent mood, was so bored of losing.

Think we deserved it, ditching the endless passing and playing more directly made us more threatening to no great surprise. Still far too casual at times and careless but there did seem to be attacking cohesion without the finishing.

Martin still can't get 90 minutes out of them and his subs were hardly convincing or his obsession with O'Hora who is hitting new lows .

I can't name one Martin signing thats been better than players we sold or allowed to leave .

Hes lumbered the club with his has beens who are never going to improve.

Right. My humble take.

Positives

- Martin changed things!
- The three at the back gave us an extra pass and more space to do our thing. It also gave us a +1 when Donny attacked, which made their forward line look extremely ordinary.
- Luke Thomas' moments of being terrible didn't cost us today, because we always had at least two players behind him.
- Souttar put a shift in. He did a lot of the unseen stuff really well, as well as get his massive head in the way plenty of times. His presence meant that Donny had to figure out ways to play around him, which meant they had to go wide with their long balls.
- Pretty much everything that Kamari Doyle did.
- John Lundstram went from a 2 against Peterborough to a 9 today. Looked like a captain and made things work. Linked play, moved the ball well, drove forward, the lot. And the goal was a huge plus.
- Pretty much everything Louis Page did.
- In so many games, Alves has looked like the only one trying to make things happen. Today, he still put a shift in and was very good (and nearly scored a stunner), but we won despite him not coming off. This isn't a dig at all – just that it's refreshing to see that one of our youngest, most talented players doesn't need to carry the entire team on his shoulders every week.
- Sammy Braybook. Kid's a very, very good player.
- Okoli looked like he enjoyed the back three. Physical, good in the air, had more confidence with the ball when he knew he had two players around him.
- Riis worked hard and was a threat. Again, he didn't come off today, but he worried Donny's back line and his work rate was brilliant from the first minute to the last.
- We didn't have BDR on the pitch at any point
- We have Connor Chaplin fit and ready. Ok, he was really baaad today, but he will come good for us in this league. No doubt whatsoever.

Negatives
- Conceding a silly goal, obviously
- For the second week running, Luke Thomas got taken to the cleaners by a young, tricky winger. This time it was Leon Ayinde. It didn't cost us, but in the first half it was 100% clear that he had Thomas beat.
- Liam Cullen. What is the point of him?

I think you’re harsh on Thomas today. He was FOTMOB’s highest rated player on the pitch, despite carrying a yellow for most of the game

I've seen the ratings and was a tad surprised as, for the first 15-20 minutes, he was terrible. Granted, he didn't cost us the game, partly because of the new formation. But it was scary to watch.

Don't get me wrong, I think he had a half decent game in the second half, but it doesn't take away from the fact that Ayinde had him on toast and caused all sorts of issues (including the yellow card).

Hes a special one is @hackneyfox. Goes into hiding when we lose but pops up out of nowhere when we win. Im convinced hes got a KPFC shrine in his house.

I know this wont be popular but okoli had a good game today.  Unlike thomas he stands up and blocks the cross.

Okoli was great, strong in the air, he was mopping up around Thomas and sutt's I still hold my breath if the ball bounces or we pass the ball to him and there is a opposition player with 15feet, but he did well today. It's almost like if we ask them to be just defenders he can focus on that, rather than being a defensive ball playing midfielder.

What gives hey?

Well I for one actually enjoyed the football. First 15 and last 15 minutes were a bit nerve wracking but the middle hour I thought we played our best football of the season. When I saw the line up I was concerned but the midfield gelled and the play was quick and slick. Lundstrum outstanding apart from their goal. Defence still shaky  but better. Hopefully signs of better things to come.

Dont over complicate things and a team full of players who have played at a higher level will beat a shite League one side.. who’d of thought? Football Is a simple game, over complicated by people like Martin who care more about style then results.

Alves motm for me. The complete lack of pace in the side is a big concern though. Two new fast full backs needed in January. Especially on the left side if Mcfarlanes a cripple. Probably a new winger as well

Are we the only club in history to bring in 16 new players and 95% of them are slow and not built for modern day football?

Agree a massive lack of pace in the team. I think Joseph's return and Kangasniemi can help in this regard. Left back is still a major problem though.

So you're saying Riis isn't better than Ayew and Daka? I'd argue Bristric is better than Ayew. Lundstram or Winks? I think I'd rather Lundstram work ethic and aggression over Winks. Doyle is looking like he's getting better each game. Him or Stephy?

Also some of the youngsters have improved the squad as well that he's brought in.

I don't like Martin and his football but I like more players that I hate this season. It's the way we're playing that is poo. I'm glad yesterday it sounded like he changed it.

Looks like RM has stumbled on a much better formation and tactic by chance, playing a quicker tempo.

He has to stick with this, it suits the players much better.

Kanga for O'Hora and when JJ is fit he could play RWB with Alves replacing Braybrooke.

Bristric and Braybrooke on the bench so at least we have midfield and striker cover.

FM far too sensible for this twonk to even think of those permutations

He's frothing at the mouth to get Burns back in, play Reid as the 9, start Cullen

Back three I think was always going to be the best way to set up…. Defensively martins teams are inherently dreadful, so he needs the extra numbers to just stay in the game. From an attacking perspective we’ve enough natural ability to be comfortably the best in this poxy league……

Its now getting the set up right.

Bought a boxer dog in January, yesterday was the first time someone was available to look after her for a home game. Manage a few away games.
