You may be too young to remember but the same unfortunate thing happened in the Eighties to a hitherto successful brand of slimming drink called Ayds...

I'm an 80's child but don't remeber Ayds - I bet people literally stopped drinking that overnight!

I remember that - it used to be advertised on Radio Luxembourg. Until that is...

A quick Google tells me it was an appetite suppressant food, not a drink.

Just back from a black tie do at the tigers. Charity gig by the local masons. I’m not one, but my mate is and if it’s a boozy sports do I’ll attend. 800 there!

Anyway, the main attraction was Kevin (can I print his first name?) Keegan was the guest speaker. He was very good, I’m 70 next year but still queued for his autograph.

Told him he broke my heart in 74. He said after they battered us in the first game, they genuinely thought they might lose the replay. His volleyed goal from the edge of the box put paid to that! Then he confirmed the final against Newcastle was one of the most boring games he had ever played in. They just didn’t turn to.

Got a nice picture, but won’t post it as we both look our age😂😂. Really down to earth bloke though and still with his missus after 50 years. Spoke really highly of Shanks and Hughes.

Keegan does seem like a nice guy tbf, I like him.

Two time Ballon d'Or winner as well!

Did another 2 sales today.

Guess who's top salesman for the month so far? :D

And it's just from being nice to people.

Couple drove up from Huntingdon to see a car, they preferred another car in Derby, same model, different colour  slightly higher mileage and a year newer.

I put in the work on the phone, had a laugh with them both, got them to come and see me, as we're closer.

Drove the car, loved it, gave them a great deal, bought it.

Yesterday was all set to be a frickin nightmare ...   after I saw the team sheet and endured 45 minutes of utter sh1te I decided to do something about it before depression set in ..  so (for the first time) I left the ground at half time, went home and walked the dogs, then cracked open a beer (and some cheese and onion crisps) and watched England beat the Boks ..  fantastic game !   Later I watched the first part of MOTD and saw Maguire and his manure mates come a cropper which kept me smiling till lights out !

Saw Fatboy Slim in Nottingham last night, it was sensational. Hate to say but Nottingham’s great.

It is, but I don't know why. :dunno: So much nicer for a night out than our city. Better than Liverpool too IMO.

I reckon the gig would've been equally good regardless of what city it was in.

I've always found the place far better than Leicester, but nowhere near as good as everyone makes out. Basically a reasonably decent but largely unspectacular city.

Newcastle, Brighton, Bristol, Glasgow, Belfast, Edinburgh, Manchester and Liverpool (and even Norwich and swansea, imo) all streets ahead for a night put with buzz and scenery

The major big thing nottingham has got is that people seem keen to say how good it is

Ended up in a&e all day with the stepdaughter because the GPs are under serious pressure.

Sitting taking meetings on the laptop from there isn't great whilst she's off getting bloods etc done (she's 21 btw)

Monday night quiz at the local...

Second place, by just 2 points. Happy with that, just me and the Mrs up against groups of 6+

We got 10 out of 10 on the Landlords round, beating everyone and won a round of drinks.

Then, a thing that is separate from the quiz, you put a quid in for 4 guesses, closest wins.

It's always an impossible thing to answer, a random number. We've never won it.

Question this week "how many over 90's make up the UK population according to 2018 official figures?"

The quiz host said it was a 6 digit answer.

Apparently, it's over 500,000.

My Mrs was 3000 out and we won the cash prize for the first time ever!

68 quid!

That pays for me and the boy to watch Watford at the weekend lol

What's he done wrong to deserve that, Tom?

Congrats on the winnings.

Not bad, guy next to me in the pub just ordered a full English breakfast which was an interesting move.

That's more acceptable than ordering a Thai green curry at 8am, which I have witnessed when I worked at Wetherspoons lol

I've ruined Christmas too, going to Man City on Boxing Day lol

Always seems a good idea ordering tickets to new grounds and taking Charlie with me, then we watch a game and think "Why are we bothering?"!

He needs to learn, he's only 15 and just got into football since I came on the scene in the last 3 years.

He needs to suffer as much as most of us have!

God forbid ,if Leicester folk ever thought they had One of the top 3 Nights out in the UK....

But we havent, so we Love telling the rest of the World , how far behind those other Nasty Cities are behind...

We are brilliant at being mundane, because over 60yrs our councils have thrown away Good ideas, with solid investment, that would See put fair city,Pull itself out of the doldrums...
