Babylon Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 He's a gonna. Guardian now reporting and BBC reporters quoting the DG on twitter.
ramboacdc Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 He's a gonna. Guardian now reporting and BBC reporters quoting the DG on twitter. sorry if silly question but "DG?"
Babylon Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 sorry if silly question but "DG?" Director General... now on Sky as well.
ramboacdc Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 Director General... now on Sky as well. ah thank you! its not a sacking its a non renewal of contract. seems weird they weren't contracted for an autumn series like they usually do. its usually January-march and September-November.
EnderbyFox Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 Gone and good riddance, no excuse for assaulting a co-worker. Any other profession he would've been sacked straight away.
kingcarr21 Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 I dont get all the hype and thousands of people signing petitions to get him reinstated. He punched a producer of the show ffs. Quite frankly hes got what he deserved. Shame cause Top Gear was always a good show. Me personally i couldnt care less as i never watched it religiously. I only ever watched it on Dave anyway. Surely now though May and Hammond wont renew their contracts and all 3 of them will be snapped up by ITV or SKY (my money is on Sky) and they go on and make a program very similar. Lets have a game and guess what the new show will be called. It will probably be similar to Top Gear like The Highest Gear or something.

If it's Sky (which I guess it will be) - they'll have the money to buy the rights to everything, and the show will be in the exact same format, theme tune and everything. Bet it'll only be a couple of months till it's back on as well
David Guiza Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 #jesuisclarkson is actually a thing on social media. Imagine being that devasated about a 54 year old millionaire losing his job for punching a co-worker. I enjoyed Top Gear under the current/recently removed format, but it has been coming for a long time.
yorkie1999 Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 it will be relaunched in another format with a slightly different name. The new presenter(s) will bring their own style to it. Anyone that likes car programmes will watch it and it may even become as popular. maybe so, but have you ever watched fifth gear, which is a follow on from the original top gear. Apart from that pointles celebrities show It must be the most boring program ever.
Fox92 Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 Big loss for the BBC surely. Top Gear will be one of their biggest pulls, if not the biggest at the minute, and those three complete it really. That said I don't think they could have done anything else given what happened.
yorkie1999 Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 Gone and good riddance, no excuse for assaulting a co-worker. Any other profession he would've been sacked straight away. Shame that everyone else involved with top gear will probably get the push as well.
Webbo Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 It's a shame but you couldn't say he didn't deserve it.
Babylon Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 Shame that everyone else involved with top gear will probably get the push as well. They may not front top gear, but I'm sure they will continue on various other shows as they already do.
Jon the Hat Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 Sounds like a nasty incident. No way he can keep his job in the BBC after that. Another broadcaster would have kept it quiet, but in light of recent years the BBC has to act.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 They should get Rachel Riley presenting, reckon she could.
Guest MattP Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 Got to be the first man sacked for being Hangry surely? Think we all knew this was coming, he should move into something different now anyway, he's got a persona people like and a massive following, he's far too outdated for the BBC anyway and think he'd do a great talk show for someone.

He had a talk show on BBC about 10 or 15 years ago. It died on it's arse.

MPH Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 As much as i have liked Clarkson, you just cant go round punching people because you dont have any hot food. and then threatening to get them sacked? Thats just bullying of the highest order. He's been riding on his reputation for long enough and its finally caught up with him.

There's being a bit grumpy because you're hungry, and then there's physically assaulting your co-worker until other members of staff restrain you. The decision's a no-brainer and, although a shame for the show, a victory for ethics.
Darkon84 Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 James May's reaction to Clarkson's sacking....quality. Looks like him and Hamster may well be leaving too then. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=N6cfFnBNELs
bovril Posted 25 March 2015 Posted 25 March 2015 I'd love Martin Brundle to bring his Norfolk diphthongs to the job. The only man who can make F1 even more soporific.
