Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 no, i reckon it was more to do with pearson and hoos not getting along and milan choosing to back hoos. I wouldn't disagree with you on that. I'm not drawing much support on this I? But it's all about opinion. I think that as long as you can back up your opinion then it's valid. Not necessary for people to agree, but it's passed an otherwise boring hour.

Not necessary for people to agree, but it's passed an otherwise boring hour. should have been in general chat, there's a conspiracy about the royals, the freemasons and the illuminati going down, ask empty for any details. anyway you could be right about the thai deal thing but it would be more they were being convinced by hoos or something along that line than they didn't want pearson imo.
L.C.F.C. Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 What do we really have to thank him for? Record annual losses? Quadrupled club debt? or moving us up the league 0 places in 3 and a half years? People have their reasons for disliking milan mandaric, and ok, losses do seem to be bad, and we aren't any higher up the table than we were when he took over, HOWEVER, the club is still here, and with potential to improve now on a steady footing. If I'm not mistaken (and please do correct me if I'm wrong) just before Milan bought the club, we wanted to buy back joey gudjohnsson (bad spelling I know), but we couldn't afford a fee believed to be in the region of 250,000 pounds. Yet now there is talk of paying 4 million in January for Curtis Davies???!!! Rumour had it we were on the brink of going into administration for a second time just before MM came in. I for one think we do owe him thanks, not necessarily for our on pitch performance or league position, but for halting a dangerous slide towards us having no club to support.
Wymsey Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 Thank god. Fvcking clown. Really? I would be surprised if these Thai's would do more for the club than he did. He'll be a big miss for me.
MPH Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 I thought we were going to be the first to know if he was seriously contemplating another club? what? I hope you are not questioning Milan's integrity.... This is the man who bought this club for 25m. He said so himself. Although i admit to being a bit confused at him saying he was only looking for investors not to sell the club. i must of got that wrong- Milan wouldnt lie. Also i remember reading that he said he wanted those investors because he had been neglecting his family and other buisness intrests and so wanted to take a lesser role. Silly Mercury for misquoting him eh!!
hackneyfox Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 We were never going into admin a 2nd time, we've dealt with that on here before. I'll be shocked if the current owners don't achieve more than he did. And I don't mean getting us relegated to division 4.
Thracian Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 "I just love the "saviour" terminology. If he's the same in the bedroom he'll be the cuddling king - with a second coming every night!
FantasticFox Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 I don't really understand all this dislike of MM, he has done what he has thought best for the club, and put his money into our club. i know this is a big "IF" but if we had got into the premiership last season would people have said can't wait for him to go? Personally I thank him for, not saving, but helping us out majorly, we wouldn't have Sven or any of the players without out him, and the thai investors either, so MM thank you for you hard work, and good luck with your new football adventure.

I for one think we do owe him thanks, not necessarily for our on pitch performance or league position, but for halting a dangerous slide towards us having no club to support. Your memory is good, however the full facts are that the board wanted to do that deal, but as the club was under the takeover talks at that time, any transfer had to be ran via MM as transfers did affect the value of the club & MM refused to sanction. That decision could have been financial, could have been he felt better players/value could be achieved with other players, but it changes the basis of your logic above. We were not about to go into administration at the time, that was the MM camp media spin, the finances would have worked for the remainder of that season, but then top players would have to have been sold - sales still took place under MM
J.Lisemore Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 Really? I would be surprised if these Thai's would do more for the club than he did. He'll be a big miss for me. Yep. Like someone else touched on earlier, I thought we - the fans were going to be the first to know if he were leaving for another club, but weve found out through media stories. Only time will tell whether these Thai's can be trusted etc, but they can't be any worse than Mandaric for keeping broken promises.
Jordan Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 It's ludicrous that our club's chairman is announcing his interest in buying a different club publicly while still holding his current role. What a circus.
MC Prussian Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 I feel let down. I wanted you to tell me you were leaving in person. And now you stab me in the back, Milan. Is this how you pay back your "loyall Lesta Sitteh Supporterr"? Oh well, thanks for your money, Jesus. Thanks for buying us out for cheap when we were in the alleged shit-zone. Thanks for always reminding us that, without you, we'd have gone bust. Hallelujah. Your soft skllls were and still are poor, though. Looking back at the amount of managers we had during your spell, I'm surprised you never dared to see a shrink. Best of luck elsewhere in the Football League, wherever that'll be. And no Milan, we won't erect a statue in your honour. Now s*d off.

What a circus. Do's and Don'ts for Wednesday Do buy a bullsh** - o - meter Do extend the boardroom to accomadate the inflated ego Do fit a revolving door to the manager's office Don't expect a miracle Don't turn off the lights in the press room Don't believe any of the "trust me" speech
Finnegan Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 Do's and Don'ts for Wednesday Do buy a bullsh** - o - meter Do extend the boardroom to accomadate the inflated ego Do fit a revolving door to the manager's office Don't expect a miracle Don't turn off the lights in the press room Don't believe any of the "trust me" speech Fact of the matter is, the club's in a better state than when he bought it and we're (for now) financially stable. Regardless of his failings, we're better off for having had him and so would Wednesday be.
Daggers Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 Fact of the matter is, the club's in a better state than when he bought it and we're (for now) financially stable. Ric Flair Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 It was always going to be a rollercoaster under Mandaric and the majority of fans were all prepared for that and wanted that. That has been the case and for all his ludicrous failings and mistakes, we have had some fantastic times under his ownership and ultimately we are in far better shape than when he bought us. We experienced a season of total domination in League One that nobody can say they didn't enjoy and we also had a superb attempt of nearly getting back to back promotions last year. That was all a far cry from our achievements before Milan came in. He's also bought us the new investment in the Thai owners and that has led to us getting Sven in, who could well lead us back to the Premiership in time given his outstanding experience as a manager. It's as simple as that. We knew exactly what we were getting with Mandaric and as long as you didn't believe every word he said and got hoodwinked in to the whole PR of him then you can't really have any qualms about what he's done here. All the best red wine nose, you've left us in good hands.
breadandcheese Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 Looks like Milan is using his media circus to try and get his takeover of Wednesday through. He's even using the same techniques he used here at Leicester, trying to generate fans excitement at his takeover in the hope they'll put pressure on the existing shareholders. I'm not so sure the old chairman at wednesday will be quite so much of a pushover, especially now he's at Chesterfield and so is no in the day-to-day thrust of Wednesday politics. I guess we'll see how it goes. All in all, I'll be happy when Milan goes. I think he's been one of the worst chairman we've had in a long time, consistently lying, racking up an increasing wage bill and increasing the debts of the club. I hope the Thai consortium is the real deal and here for the long term, otherwise we are in trouble.
Jon the Hat Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 Fact of the matter is, the club's in a better state than when he bought it and we're (for now) financially stable. Regardless of his failings, we're better off for having had him and so would Wednesday be. Moving debts from hand to the other doesn't make you financially stable. Really it doesn't. Ask Pompey.
Finnegan Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 I am honestly surprised you believe this. Especially because you are totally wrong. It depends how cynical you are about our new ownership. I see no reason to panic yet. Prior to Mandaric we were terrible, a bleak, sad club sliding slowly further down the league and in to debt with the Trust poster a page or so back talking about asset stripping and the sale of players to remain in business. Mandaric had one aim, steady the ship, raise the profile and sell us on. He's done that. And while he took us down and our finances are hugely ambiguous, we now have a world class manager, money for him to spend and ambitions for promotion that are not hopeless.
muzzieizzet Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 I'll stick my neck out..... I like Milan, he went through quite a few managers but found a gem in Pearson and so far Sven. Yes, he was unpredictable and often spoke before he thought but, so what. What i've come to learn is supporting city is never dull. Yes I would liked the '2 year plan' to work out but i'll blame that on that french onion Yann. We could have done alot worse than Milan. I for one will be sad to see him leave touch with the club. and I actually quite liked his dodgy side.
Fox92 Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 Turned up at college at 9 this morning and I already had 'Mandaric is coming to Wednesday' from all the Sheffield Wedneday fans. As much as I dislike the club, I obviously don't want them to go bust because I am a football fan. I like Milan, I always will. He saved us so, good luck to him. Wonder what Rob Kelly is thinking...
Daggers Posted 24 November 2010 Posted 24 November 2010 Wonder what Rob Kelly is thinking... It's not tough... "Smashing bunch of lads" "125%" "Redouble efforts, must redouble efforts"
