I was never a morning person, and wondered the same. I'm 50 now and nothing has changed.

I rarely set an alarm and usually wake up between 8am and 9am, and then it's a good hour and at least 2 coffees before I'm awake.

Ah, great 😂

I'm similar, on a weekday I start work at 8:30 so that tends to get my brain into gear (with the aid of caffeine) but on a weekend it's mid-morning before I feel human.

I hate getting up early and like The Bear, I'm up most nights needing the loo so never get a proper nights kip.

The only way I can function these days is by having a 'cat nap' of between 45 mins-1 hour every afternoon.

I'm lucky that I WFH and can schedule my work around it but if I miss it, I'm wrecked.

If an afternoon Siesta is good enough for the Spanish then it's good enough for me

I'm a bit envious of your cat naps, my wife is similar to you. For me I never wake up from them feeling refreshed, if anything they just make me groggy.

On the flip side though I can happily sleep for 10-11 hours in one go, so it's swings and roundabouts I suppose.

British gas emailed me to ask for meter readings today, I do it every 3 months, last one being in May. Now, I clearly entered the one in May wrong, as this time my meter for my gas is less than what I submitted last time. I've never had this before, anyone have any idea what happens in this scenario? Cheers.

You could go on their website and open a 'Chat' with them. I have found the operatives on there helpful in the past.

Or, just submit a new reading that is only slightly higher than your previous one, where you made a mistake.

Cheers, I ended up submitting the lower reading and they seem to have accepted it and given me a bill.

Edit: I actually bothered to read the bill and they'd done what you suggested and given me an estimated reading slightly higher than the previous one. I contacted their chat and they've fixed it all, very quickly and easily, thanks for the tip.

Why.isnt there far right protests in Scotland???

They're all off their tits on coke and White Lightning and sleeping it off?

Or, more likely, they don't have the same asylum seeking, immigrant problem, as we do in the UK.

Dog owners - how much has your policy gone up this year? My pet plan went from £420 to £500 which I didn’t think was too bad considering.

Ours went up £120. I did make two claims last year and the pooch is now classed as mature so, not unexpected.

More robust national identity and less feeling of being 'ignored'. Maybe a solution is English devolution.

But also historically they riot less than the English. They are one of the calmest European nations.

How long is too long a period of unemployment from an interviewer' perspective?

Just as long as you show justifiable reasons for being unemployed and demonstrate that you are trying, there is no such thing as too long. People are sympathetic.

People take years off work for sabbaticals, raising kids, travel, personal development, caring for elderly parents, all sorts of reasons.

If you’re the right person for the job, a break from work shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing.

Try and turn it into a positive

Thanks.

I am volunteering 3 days a week for an emotional support charity since being unemployed a month ago,  to show that I'm doing something - plus, have also recently completed a Level 2 in First Aider in Mental Health course.

But am thinking of doing a part-time opportunity somewhere, as miss interacting with others.

Am surprised how competitive volunteering in a shop is, as had an unsuccessful application for one the other day.

I worked up until I was 24, then went to Uni as a mature student and finally have my first graduate job(done other jobs in between to keep me going), starting at the end of the month, aged 29. I also did some volunteering and work experience like yourself, this got me the job, keep going and you’ll be fine!

Nope.

Could be you're running out of storage space so the pages aren't caching, or the app settings are making it reload every time?

Will I ever become a morning person?

Given the choice, I wouldn't wake up until at least 8:30am and I'd be in bed until at least 9:30am.

The lay in I get probably once every 2-3 months (a weekend where my son is sleeping over at his grandparents) is the highlight of the day.

Since I was a teenager my parents have told me this would change when I was older. I'm 31 now, and it still hasn't.

I basically didn’t sleep properly until a couple of years ago. I used to go to bed post midnight every night, sometimes struggle to get to sleep for hours after that and not want to get up at a decent time ever.

One of my problems was Restless Legs Syndrome, which kept me awake most of the time. Now I take a medication for it, which lets me sleep properly.

Coupled with the fact I have changed career and now start very early mornings, I have definitely gone full 360 on the morning/evening person thing.
