MikeyT Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Was just about to post this. Just seen it on Stringers Twitter. Not good at all.
Unit Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 From stringers twitter IanStringerBBC Ian Stringer #lcfc striker Martyn Waghorn is out for the season with a hamstring tear which he picked up in training yesterday.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Got beaten. FAIL. But yeah major blow, Call up for Adi Yussuf Maybe?
hackneyfox Posted 5 April 2011 Author Posted 5 April 2011 He wasn't likely to play for us again anyway, and perhaps not just this season.
ScouseFox Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Fear that might be it then, no further chance to prove himself and Sven doesn't seem too impressed, and he'll only want to improve in the summer anyway. As for the rest of the season we've got enough cover, could see Schlupp back early which would be good.
RowlattsFox Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 With Howard now back, Yakubu, Kamara, Vassell, and Gallagher as well, was unlikely to feature much but disappointing for him. will he be here next season, could have played last game for us in my opinion.
Collymore Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 I suppose that's an extra reason to sign Kamara on loan as I know a few people on here was questioning whether we needed him. As for Waggy - It's sad for the lad but I really don't rate his finishing. You should have seen him in shooting practice on Saturday, it was embarrassing.
Corky Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 His shooting in the warm-up is dreadful- even Vitor is more accurate.
dave the caveman Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Another case of Nigel Pearson making players look much better than they are? With the benefit of hindsight he is looking like a desperate (at the time), and ultimately poor signing.
Wymsey Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Waghorn is just a part-effective striker, there's better around who do more. But i wish him a speedy recovery.
Matt Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Feel sorry for the lad, perhaps in hindsight he'd have been better staying at Sunderland and going on loan somewhere, obviously injuries happen and staying at Sunderland would not stop this but think in hindsight moving here hasn't exactly furthered his career in the way he'd imagined, can't see that changing while he is here either.
Kenners Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Shame, but as others have said it wasn't like he was going to feature massively anyway. Id love Schlupp to be recalled and placed in the squad but hes only gonna pick up the odd 10 minutes so its probably best to be playing full matches at Brentford. Also, it seems like questionning the messiah at times, but I thought we got ripped off for Waggy even if he is 'only young'. Wish him a speedy recovery anyhow and hope he proves me wrong next season.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 I feel like I'm to blame, when I put my arms on his shoulders in Life and screamed 'I FUCKING LOVE YOU MAN, PLEASE STAY' after a play-off place was secured last season, that that was what persuaded him. I'm sorry Martyn.
lcfcadam Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Gotta put your chances away if you're to stay in my good books I'm afraid
MC Prussian Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Training injury. Bummer. Very unlucky. All the best and speedy recovery, Martyn.
Bugg Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Who are we going to have to run around like a headless chicken and show passion now? Season over
sdb Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Big contrast to last season for the guy. Feel he's deserved more of a chance.
sphericalfox Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 With more opportunities in the first team and reserves, we'll see more and better from Waggy next season.
smudger63 Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Some harsh criticism of waggy on here, in my opinion. To be fair to the lad, he`s not really had much time on the pitch this season, and it`s difficult coming on for 10 or 15 minutes, at the end of a game. Plus a different style of football to adapt too, to what he`s been used to playing with sunderland, and with us, last season under pearson. I wouldn`t be shocked to see him go in the summer though, i think sven will have other strikers in mind for next season. He could very well end up at Hull, along with Hobbs, someone else, who will likely be on his way this summer.

STEVIE B Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Big contrast to last season for the guy. Feel he's deserved more of a chance. Totally agree. He's young and will improve.I want him to stay, has a great attitude and loves City, you can't coach that. He can be coached into a better player.
ajthefox Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Gutted for him. Shit end to a shit season where he hasn't had a proper chance unlike the likes of Vassell and Yakubu who have started week in week out constantly. Really hope next season he can get back to last seasons form.
