Appalling article.

 

The teams who play the 'prettiest' football hardly ever win the title.

 

The great Liverpool sides of the late 70s and early 1980s built their success on the back on solid defending and ruthless midfielders like Steve Nicol and Steve McMahon. Villa won the title with a counter-attacking side in 1980. Even Chelsea in recent years have won it without any real flair in their side.

 

As title winners go, we have been exciting. There's been more goals in our games than either Spurs' or Arsenal's...

 

 

"As it is, Leicester will be the first team to take the title without one memorable performance — with the possible exception of their home victory over Liverpool"

 

Yeah mate, Try Manchester City 1 Leicester City 3, now fork off.

 

I can take a bit of stick as long as people are in the ball park of semi accurate, that's just an article of falsities.

People seem to forget the fact that the first half of the season all our games were exciting, all those times we were dead and buried at half time and somehow came out of the game with something, that's not being efficient that's a flat out refusal to give up, All those comebacks, Vardys record. Claudio getting the pizza in, turning over Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Spurs and Everton it's a massive discredit to us when everyone says we're boring, there is so much more to City than that.

Exactly. Even recently though:  if you look at Vardy's goal against West Ham... a three man move from one end of the pitch to the other. That's just brilliant football which got forgotten about in all the controversy surrounding that game.. .  For the fourth against Swansea, Gray has run the length of the pitch and beaten about 3 players.  Okazaki's bicycle kick against Newcastle... Mahrez against Waford.

 

People go on about our team spirit. And it's true, it has carried us a long way. However, team spirit will only carry you so far. You don't get to be seven points clear at the top of the Premiership just because all the team are big mates.

 

We have some outstanding footballers at our club, and have scored some great goals through-out the entire season...

 

I really don't get the 'long ball' tag. I can't think of a single goal this season that has come from a hoofed clearance. The only one that comes close is Vardy's wonder-strike against Liverpool...  and that's one of the goals of the season!!

The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Leicester City following their 4-0 victory against Swansea City in the Barclays Premier League on Sunday 24th April 2016.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.

Leicester City manager, Claudio Ranieri, will receive a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award.

The Foxes were without suspended top-scorer Jamie Vardy and six days earlier had watched Tottenham Hotspur apply extra pressure at the top of the table.

But Claudio Ranieri's side responded emphatically by equalling their best Premier League win of the season, scoring four league goals for the first time since beating Sunderland 4-2 on the opening day.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri told BBC Sport: "It's a fantastic performance. Without Jamie Vardy everyone gave something more.

"We knew we had some difficulties but with the fight of everybody we had a good match.

"We know it will be tough because Tottenham are a good team but we will fight until the end."

They must be mistaken, we've not played well this year and won every game 1-0.

Some fans salute us and see us being a shining example for other "smaller" clubs to follow/emulate, others are plain envious, see us drop out in the CL group stages and throw around budget numbers of 130, 140, 150 million Euro (£100m to 120m) - I don't see that this amount has ever been confirmed by the club. I thought our wage budget on its own was at £60m for this season.

Its funny how arsenal are criticized for their one dimension, ineffective 'pretty fooball' approach which is devoid of any backbone due to no leaders.

 

Its funny how atletico madrid are widely regarded as the best 'team' within europe, a side which according to the majority would have been the one which man city would least have wanted to face.

 

 

 

And its funny how Leicester City, the English microcosm of Atletico Madrid, are widely regarded as a poor side because they don't play 'pretty football', despite the fact they are free scorers and have a very solid defence.

 

 

Since Simeone has taken charge of Atletico, Spain itself has seen a big shift from a top 2 to a top 3. He has seen credit arrive from all over the world and demand from many arsenal fans to take over from Wenger.

 

 

 

Football is a very simple game. Attack well and defend well, and you will beat your opposition. We have been the most effective attacking side in the league, that is why we will be champions.

I would say a 4-0 home win going on 6 or 7 without your top scorer and key striker is a pretty impressive performance.

Liverpool were very entertaining few years ago but failed at the last hurdle. Newcastle were entertaining under Keegan but didn't win anything either. Arsenal have been very entertaining on and off for a decade and barely got anything to show for.

The only sides I remember being entertaining and winning are the Chelsea double winning side in 09/10. They scored over 100 goals. Man City in 13/14 also scored over 100 goals and Man Utd between 06-09 who were a phenomenal side.

Atletico had 26% possession last night against Bayern. Granted its Bayern, but even in league games they can win 2-0 and have 40% possession against mediocre bottom half sides.

That's why I laugh at people who suggest we will struggle next season. We had 38% possession against Swansea and we beat them 4-0. I bet Souness was fuming.

I hope we beat United with 11% possession. The outrage will be hilarious lol

Edit: I also wanna add that Bayern made 223 passes last night. Atletico made 61. And we get crucified for having one of the lowest passing stats in the PL.

To be fair, its one thing having 30% against Swansea or even man city... It's another thing to do it against Barca and Bayern.

What Atletico have acheived is really amazing. It's something I think we can and should aspire to. We do have a lot of similarities but I think there is a lot more we can learn.

A whole pre season with Claudio will do the world of good in terms of tactical development for the squad.

We can't match some of teams playing their type of game. Better we play our game or rather a game that neutralises their strengths.
