davieG Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Start from the back work your way up! Not sure we need relationship advice in the football forum.
AKCJ Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Or sign players who can track back and tackle. Wellens can't track back like he did and King never tackles. So defensive midfielders then?
Libertine Dream Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Because our midfield get overrun all the time on the counter attack, until we learn to defend as a team this problem keeps on occurring their are two alternatives, sign a target man to relive the pressure i.e Heskey or sign a defensive minded midfielder imo. So we relieve pressure by hoofing the ball up to one player, who most times will fail to control it or do anything meaningful with the ball. I'd rather the ball is played with some purpose, near to a channel for a pacy striker to do something with and allow other players to join in a counter, this was Reading's game when Long was there which worked very well. If the target man is mobile and not just a lump (like Jason Roberts) then it is an option, but a Steve Howard target man is not a step in the right direction

Lcfcman2010 Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Fourth Official@Fourth_Official Leicester City will go after Nottingham Forest's Luke Chambers if they are priced out of a move for James Chester from Hull #LCFC
Dan Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Interesting. Fact of the matter is Morgan and Chambers have been part of a solid back-line together before.

Guest Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Interesting. Fact of the matter is Morgan and Chambers have been part of a solid back-line together before. A forest defence. Now we're in trouble . But they did win a European Cup.

Danny the Fox 95 Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Fourth Official@Fourth_Official Leicester City will go after Nottingham Forest's Luke Chambers if they are priced out of a move for James Chester from Hull #LCFC Chambers would be awesome!
Fox92 Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Would take Chambers. Solid for the last few years at this level, and especially, as mentioned, with Wes Morgan.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 I would prefer to keep Matt Mills than get Chambers. Well I cannot see Mills playing in the Leicester shirt under Pearson again.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Morgan and Chambers formed a very good partnership a season or two ago. Both are very steady and will do what is needed. Really would love Chambers at the KP! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN5gV636D4o Like him just for this, doesn't think much about Forest fans.
Happy Fox Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 He isn't good enough for a team aspiring for promotion, if we are not able to get Chester than Zac Whitbread or Glen Loovens would be far better propositions.
Fox92 Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 He isn't good enough for a team aspiring for promotion, if we are not able to get Chester than Zac Whitbread or Glen Loovens would be far better propositions. So, Luke Chamber's isn't good enough for a team aspiring for promotion, but Zak Whitbread is? Under Billy Davies, Nottingham Forest were a good team at this level, with a solid defence. And interesting enough, Morgan and Chambers were part of that defence.

I rather look at facts Luke Chambers was part of the leakiest defense for F****t last season who were relegation fodder, all of their fans don't rate him, maybe we should pay attention to that rather than blindly accepting that he is some sort of amazing CB when he clearly isn't otherwise other clubs in this division would be lauding for his services. I am hoping this is a smokescreen so that Dull get the message to sell Chester to us.
MGLCFC Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Matt Mills was part of a Reading defence that was superb, last season he was crap. That's a fact. Just like strikers, some pairings work, some don't. Perhaps Morgan and Chambers form a good partnership.

I am hoping this is a smokescreen so that Dull get the message to sell Chester to us. Well I think that a leaky defence can also be down to the manager. St Ledger got relegated with Preston, but was still solid last season here. And I also recall Millwall conceding a few goals with Zak Whitbread in defence, in League One. He is no better than Luke Chambers. I haven't spoken to all of their fans, I've only spoken too a few which doesn't represent all of their fanbase. Never once did I say he was an 'amazing CB'. But if offered, especially for free, I'd take him. And I rate him more than a 28-year old defender than has just been released by a mid table Premier League team. I don't understand why you want Chester that much either, I think he is as good as Chambers, but not better.
Babylon Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 So what? I rather look at facts Luke Chambers was part of the leakiest defense for F****t last season who were relegation fodder, all of their fans don't rate him, maybe we should pay attention to that rather than blindly accepting that he is some sort of amazing CB when he clearly We talking about ex forest player of the year Chambers, the same Chambers who was actually in one of the best defences in the league for a couple of years prior to last year, alongside Wes Morgan. The same Morgan who I believe you also slated, telling us to look how crap Forest are. Rather than looking at the previous years he did well for them, and the fact he was in the championship team of the year the year before. Bamba came from fecking Scotland and SSL from a relegated team, and many people on here bum them to death. If you choose to focus on what could well be a dip in form, then fine. But accusing people of "not looking at the facts" and "blindly accepting he's an amazing CB" is utter nonsense. It might work, it might not if he signed. Anyone confidently predicting without a shadow of a doubt one way or the other is nothing but a fool.
