Happy Fox Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3284/euro-2012/2012/05/10/3093046/shearer-out-of-running-to-be-part-of-hodgsons-euro-2012-backroom- Gareth Southgate, the FA head of elite development, Nick Barmby, who was sacked as Hull City manager earlier this week, and Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson are other names in the frame for a post designed for Euro 2012 only.
Tielemans63 Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 Barmby is probably the man for this job. Bit vague though - a younger guy who the players can identify with? What sort of a 'role' is that?
Matt Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 Well done and good luck to him if it does happen, whilst i'd like him to be involved i'd be worried it'd take his focus off getting the team ready for the season ahead, or it could be seen as a positive and he could combine it with abit of scouting
Out Foxed Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 good luck nige. expect to see grant holt coming on with 5 minutes to go
dannythefox Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 Barnby only quit playing this season come on he's done nothing its like people saying he should come and be a coach a Leicester like Pearson would have him there is far better out there.
dave the caveman Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 Are there any examples of 'promising young English coaches' who have joined the England setup and benefitted from the experience? Because at the moment I'm just think of Peter T****r and the wolly with a brolly.
RowlattsFox Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 Not surprising really considering he has been in the England set up before but I can't actually see it happening. Barmby and maybe Phil Neville although probably too soon for him, is Pearce not going to be involved then?
I am Rod Hull Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 How many England caps does Pearson have? The same amount as Hodgson, Capello, Sven and Boy George...
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 I hope he's not. There's a big job on for him this summer to mould our team in his image so I think his time would be better spent working on LCFC. Were the circumstances different it would be a great opportunity, but I think Nigel will recognise that his own house needs to be in order before he starts helping others.
Corky Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 How many England caps does Pearson have? How is that relevant?
Libertine Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 How is that relevant? They're hiring for executive cap-tester.
Stevosevic Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 Wouldn't be surprised, he is very well respected in the game for his coaching.
Captain... Posted 10 May 2012 Posted 10 May 2012 NP could only benefit from being around that sort of set-up, but I can't see it myself, someone like Barmby or Neville, or even Lee Clark (is he still out of a job) make more sense, I can't imagine too many managers having the time over the pre-season to go over to Poland and Ukraine, especially with the farcical arrangements made by the FA..
ta-fc Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 Are there any examples of 'promising young English coaches' who have joined the England setup and benefitted from the experience? Because at the moment I'm just think of Peter T****r and the wolly with a brolly. This ^ 1000% - no discernible benefit has been gleaned from the FA's policy of 'helping' young English managers... Pearson should be focussing on getting things right at LCFC not paying lip service to the FA in relation to a job he'll never get!
ozleicester Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 No thanks, NP has to focus on buying and organising our new squad.
Nick Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 It'll be Phil Neville. He's taking his A coaching badge exams next week.........
The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 Whats the not deal? Its not going to affect us. Our players return for preseason on 9th July. We'll be knocked out come 15th June!!
Aleksz Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 Dont see it as a huge problem, Brendan Rodgers is going out to work with Spain.
