Just finished "Them" on Amazon Prime. I was really looking forward to watching it due to the comparisons with Jordan Peele's work, which I absolutely love.

Started strongly, fell apart towards the end of the series.

It looks absolutely amazing, with some fantastic performances... But was relentlessly traumatic. Almost exhaustively so. Some scenes were incredibly difficult to watch, and there was really no respite as a viewer and it became a bit too much IMO.

Checked it on IMDB. Looks impressive and we'll give it a watch. Hopefully we won't be let down by the last few episodes.

That the series that is based on the book series?

Someone recommended it to me a while ago but I never got around to it, might have to add it to the list

Yes, it's based on the books.

I think the consensus on here from those that have seen it is that the first series is superb as is the second but then it takes on a new direction and loses some people along the way.

Personally I think every series has been great and would thoroughly recommend it as a sci-fi series.

It’s heavy, man. I’ve seen the phrase “trauma porn” used. Give it a go, see what you think. An important thing to portray, for sure, but fvck it was hard to watch at times.

Settled down this week to watch Baptiste ...   6 episodes so two a night ...   good start but then really struggled with it ...  confusing, not believable and well ...   just a bit boring !! ...   big thumbs down from me.

The whole Baptiste thing is weird. They had a great show called The Missing where he was a main character, and it seemed to work. They've since shifted at to this Baptiste series, which has the same premise, a retired French detective who helps find missing people, but it just doesn't work any more. Maybe it's because there seems to be more focus on Baptistes family life, I'm not sure, but its not a patch on The Missing.

Also in The Missing, the local police used to call him as he was a famous detective with a great success rate in finding missing people, now he keeps just rocking up to offer to help, declaring he's "Julian Baptiste, I find people" like he thinks he's superman. It's just not very believable.

I had a couple of days on my own this week and binge watched ‘Sunderland til I die’ on Netflix. Real car-crash viewing and impossible not to think that without Pearson, Kuhn Vichai and the rest, it’s where we could have ended up.

King Gary. Any good?

This has been completely off my radar but caught the final 5 minutes last night and thought it might be worth a watch.

I do seem to miss some great comedy. I only discovered Friday Night Dinner relatively recently and wondered if King Gary is in the same mould.

It has its moments. It's not belly-laughingly good. But it's okay if you don't want something to properly get into.

Friday Night Dinner is on a different level. King Gary isn't close.

Julian Clary as the guest on today’s Countdown managed to come up with Arsenal, arousal, orgasms, horniest and gossamer

The man can’t help but utter filth. How can you get away with saying arsenal on daytime tv ?

I was really excited that this is out in a months time but then I realised I misread the date

You might think it’s a long way away but if you start watching the trilogy tonight you'd just have finished Return Of The King in time for it.

Hot Tub Britain.

The whole hot tub thing baffles me.  Sitting outside in a tub of water seems very popular.  Then there's people who invite others to sit in there with them which just is weird to me, most of which can be seen my your neighbours and your paying £1000's for the privilege.  Having seen the programme it also seems most who want to sit in a hot tub in their garden really shouldn't be showing their bodies off, so maybe instead of a hot tub invest in a exercise bike instead.;)

But whatever floats ya boat i guess.

Torn on this, let’s be honest it’s been utterly ridiculous for a while lol

I just learned to roll with it and then I can enjoy it for what it is.

I'm committed now to seeing how it all ends.

Yes.

I'm excited about this too.

...is that the Trees of the Valar in the background? That means there will be some First Age stuff going on as well as Second Age.

The depiction of Numenor and what happens to it is probably the thing I'm looking forward to most.
