Simmo86 Posted 27 February 2013 Posted 27 February 2013 I'm kinda hoping Forest come up with us this season, as so we can have the big derby against them in the premier league. They don't care!
Mark_w Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/21604568 Jesus Christ. If I was a Cardiff fan, I wouldn't want to go up. "Have they achieved any success under this bluebirds brand?," he asked "So why do we hold onto something that hasn't achieved much success?"
Leicesterpool Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/21604568 Jesus Christ. If I was a Cardiff fan, I wouldn't want to go up. Just read that, I would pretty angry if i was a Cardiff fan destroying the clubs identity, personally they should agree with fans first like they did here when we had the choice to rename to Leicester Fosse. It's clear its a franchise now, wouldn't rule out talk now relocating the club!.
ScouseFox Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Painful reading. "If 80% still support our business that's fine"

It's clear its a franchise now, wouldn't rule out talk now relocating the club!. Not sure a relocation is really on the cards. They're hardly going to ship the club off the Malaysia, and I'm not sure where they could go in England/Wales. There's not really anywhere I can think of that would provide a large enough fanbase to make leaving Cardiff worth it.
Kitchandro Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 It's only the colour of the kit they said. We're still Cardiff City they said. Who cares as long as you support a Premiership club, right?
Soar Fox Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Name change, kit change and club badge change. I'd rather us play non-league football than change the identity of our club for a shot at the premier league. If I was a Cardiff fan I'd seriously be asking other fans to look into the possibility of setting up a new team like Afc Wimbledon did.
Leicesterpool Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Just imagine it got even worse imagine a couple of years down the road there completely rename there whole name to Welsh Dragons getting rid of the Cardiff bit of there name.
Super_horns Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Just imagine it got even worse imagine a couple of years down the road there completely rename there whole name to Welsh Dragons getting rid of the Cardiff bit of there name. Not sure Swansea and Wrexham would want that and it wouldn't be allowed.. The owners are taking advantage of the fact a bit like most of ours the Cardiff fans won't care what goes on off the pitch whilst they are successful..
Finnegan Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Why would it not be allowed? You can name your club whatever you want, can't you? If we called ourselves East Midlands FC, Derby and Forest wouldn't have valid grounds to stop it. They already have branded themselves THE Welsh club with the badge and kit changes, they don't need to do much more. As for moving, where would they go? They're already in the capital. Hardly going to increase their prospects by becoming FC Barry Island are they? I mean this stuff is all soul destroying but I swear some people just assume every businessman is a complete retard. It was genuinely a shock to some people that our own owners madegood decisions occasionally! Gasp! Cardiff's may appear a bit more out of touch but they've got a boss in that they're giving good support to, have allowed to make reasonable signings, haven't interfered too much and now have their club set to go up. I won't argue with the original point of the thread, their bosses are hugely money driven and it'll be a worrying time for the wallets of their fans but all this madcap stuff about further plundering their identity? Bit premature. As for pricing, do WE really want to go up? Terrified what my ST is gonna cost if we do.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 I would pretty angry if i was a Cardiff fan I feel angry reading that anyway! It's disgraceful that this should be allowed. If this happened to Leicester I can honestly say that I wouldn't attend another match, as painful as that would be. This guy summarises everything that I dislike about football.
Finnegan Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 We've considered changing our name before. Granted we did it democratically but that was in a former age. If Top turned round and renamed us Leicester Fosse or Leicester Foxes we'd be annoyed but I highly doubt it'd trigger a mass exodus of fans to Hinckley United.

While I hope we stay 'Leicester City' until the end of time, I'm sure 'Leicester Fosse' would be openly welcomed by some, due to the history involved. But let's remember that Cardiff weren't even nicknamed the 'Red Dragons' until this season, so it'd be less like renaming us to the Leicester Foxes and more to something like the Leicester Bulldogs - complete with a fetching new yellow home strip. I'm sure the latter would see a fair few fans take their money (and possibly allegiance) elsewhere. Both would be cringeworthy, mind.

True, but we weren't considering the name change out of pure venality like this lot. It's a kind of cultural colonialism in a way, to buy up a Western football club up to its eyes in debt and then start ordering them to change their identity to suit the commercial predelictions of your home country with no respect at all shown to the traditions of the club and the city you are buying into.
BHAFC Braders Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Just find this view from away end was there any need for that? we were f**king cr*p that night!!I'm trying so hard to block it out my mind.
Corky Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 You're all welcome for us beating Palace.. X What was all that stuff about Jonesy on the front of the paper today?
EcclesallOwl Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 What was all that stuff about Jonesy on the front of the paper today? He shags who he wants... He shags who he waaaaants.. Seriously though it was about him having an affair I believe. But then again it is the Sun..
Alf Bentley Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 But let's remember that Cardiff weren't even nicknamed the 'Red Dragons' until this season, so it'd be less like renaming us to the Leicester Foxes and more to something like the Leicester Bulldogs I can see a future in this... - The club could get a sponsorship deal with Churchill Insurance - Change the kit to brown and white patches, creating a unique global brand - Change the stadium name to "The Kennel" - Replace Filbert Fox with a Churchill the Bulldog mascot, who'd roam pitchside, nodding his head at the kids - Sell little fluffy Churchills in the club shop to promote our image as a "family club" - Before the match, show Winston Churchill's "fight them on the beaches" speech on the big screen to get the fans motivated and then, as the players emerge from the tunnel, play "Who let the dogs out?" instead of the Posthorn Gallop We need to move with the times... It is better to explore your nightmares BEFORE they become reality....
Corky Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 He shags who he wants... He shags who he waaaaants.. Seriously though it was about him having an affair I believe. But then again it is the Sun.. Yeah, I had a glance (don't read the Sun personally). Had there been rumours about it before?
KFS Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 We could do with a couple of favours tonight from Wolves and Derby.
ealingfox Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 We could do with a couple of favours tonight from Wolves and Derby. Can see Derby taking something off Palace, not much hope for Wolves, though they are due a win and we said that about Bristol City when they played Watford.
Fox92 Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 I can see Derby beating Palace, also. Don't think Wolves will beat Watford though.
............... Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 Mark Davies out for 10 months, gotta feel for the bloke, such a talent
EcclesallOwl Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 Yeah, I had a glance (don't read the Sun personally). Had their been rumours about it before? I hadn't heard anything and by the reaction of most it's come out of the blue We could do with a couple of favours tonight from Wolves and Derby. We could do with Watford putting 5+ past Wolves..
