Super_horns Posted 22 March 2013 Posted 22 March 2013 Not sure taxpayers will be too chuffed having to pay for a football club to use the stadium but then it could have been left as a "white elephant" Least they have to keep the track so there is some kind of Olympic legacy. Spurs wanted to rip the whole thing down I understand
Carl the Llama Posted 22 March 2013 Posted 22 March 2013 It's pretty silly really, isn't it? Fair play to West Ham, they pretty much sell out every home game, but even the most optimistic Hammer can't believe they'll continue to do so in a stadium basically 230% the size of the Boleyn ground.
escape2victory Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/21877134 good signing for norwich. been impressed whenever I've seen him play
foxfanazer Posted 23 March 2013 Posted 23 March 2013 http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/21877134 good signing for norwich. been impressed whenever I've seen him play Pretty sure United were interested in him a few years back
Leicesterpool Posted 28 March 2013 Posted 28 March 2013 Not sure taxpayers will be too chuffed having to pay for a football club to use the stadium but then it could have been left as a "white elephant" Least they have to keep the track so there is some kind of Olympic legacy. Spurs wanted to rip the whole thing down I understand Yeah Spurs just wanted the land not the stadium, I'm not keen on the idea of West Ham getting the stadium. If you think of it we've paid for West Ham's football ground , in my opinion no football club should have got it. I think it should have been turned into a cricket venue or something for England.
AdamN Posted 28 March 2013 Posted 28 March 2013 If you think of it we've paid for West Ham's football ground , in my opinion no football club should have got it. We paid for a flagship stadium for the Olympic Games, and that's what it served as. If West Ham happen to capitalise on its current vacancy then so be it.
purpleronnie Posted 28 March 2013 Posted 28 March 2013 We paid for a flagship stadium for the Olympic Games, and that's what it served as. If West Ham happen to capitalise on its current vacancy then so be it. But why should tax payers pay for the conversion?
fadedfox Posted 29 March 2013 Posted 29 March 2013 Because West Ham are the tenants. It is the landlords responsibility to pay for structural repairs. If you rented a flat or house, would you expect to foot the bill for any structural changes? At the end of the day anyone and everyone could have put a proposal together for consideration but the west ham proposal was the ONLY viable option. Yes they got a great deal but fair play to them for seezing the opportunity. A very clever bit of business.

If you bought a house that needed structual changes it would be through a fault if you wanted to make a change you would have to pay, west ham knew they would have to convert, the tax payer shouldnt have to pay it west ham should.
fadedfox Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 West Ham were in a key negotiating position. They could pretty much dictate the terms. They could have quite easily have stayed at the Boleyn Ground, they didn't need to move but Boris Johnson needed West Ham much more. If they had walked away, it would have become white elephant and everyone knows it. Blame the farcical decision by politicians and Lord Coe who decided not to build a multi use stadium in the first place, not West Ham. The owners have merely acted in West Ham best interests and got a great deal for their club.
Happy Fox Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 It seems like MON wants to get sacked by Sunderland a return to Leicester City
Corky Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Sunderland are awful. Man United were at half pace and still were comfortable.
21st Century Fox Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Sunderland seriously need the clubs below them to do as badly as them, can't see a huge amount of points coming with their injuries... Chelsea (A) Newcastle (A) Everton (H) Villa (A) Stoke (H) Southampton (H)
Fox92 Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Sunderland look poor, and in some ways they remind me of us. Just no luck going there way either, and in the end, a deflected goal is the difference although Manchester United showed more quality and determination throughout. If we stay down, I wouldn't mind trips to Sunderland and Villa again! It seems like MON wants to get sacked by Sunderland a return to Leicester City Keep dreaming, he never returns to clubs - hence he has never managed Nottingham Forest - No John Robertson with him either, and like it says in the paper, it's like Clough without Taylor.
Corky Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Wigan win, Southampton win, Norwich, Sunderland and Newcastle all lose- it's going to be some relegation battle.
Corky Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Stoke are not out of it, level with Saints but they score far more goals and Stoke don't bother away from home.
Fox_in_spain Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Mulumbu's red card is an absolute classic! http://www.dailymoti...ls#.UVceaaLU_Bg
theessexfox Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Mulumbu's red card is an absolute classic! http://www.dailymoti...ls#.UVceaaLU_Bg that's absurd, it wasn't even bad
Corky Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Lovely to see the 70's hairstyle duo Leighton Baines and Gerry Francis at the game today. Like watching the Big Match on ITV
StanSP Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Shotgun the one on the right. In an unrelated note, Alan Shearer is such a bellend.
ScouseFox Posted 30 March 2013 Posted 30 March 2013 Sorry but how has it been about 7 hours since Andy Carroll scored that volley and it hasn't gone viral and been called "one of the goals of the season"? RvP did that with his stronger foot and it got replayed on a loop on SSN for about 4 months.
BoneDog Posted 31 March 2013 Posted 31 March 2013 Lovely goal from Carroll. And that Mulumbu sending off cracked me up.
