shen Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Not a red card. Just because it was feisty, it wasn't one bit reckless. Gets the ball with one foot. At most it should've been a free-kick, but a red card?...
C-man Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 The lino today used to post on here, some might remember john_lcfc? Anyone hear him say "they've paid £62 over there, go and see them!"? Chief.
StanSP Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Not a red card. Just because it was feisty, it wasn't one bit reckless. Gets the ball with one foot. At most it should've been a free-kick, but a red card?... If he's got the ball, then why should it even be a free-kick? At first sighting, (on a not so great stream, to be fair) it looked like a straight red to me. Both feet off the ground, therefore player is possibly out of control and is more likely to be using excessive force. However, after seeing clearer replays, I thought it was harsh to give a red and Wilshere has gone in with a fair bit of force too. I think City's appeal will be successful.
Corky Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 I can see why Kompany was sent off, but I don't think it was on second viewing. Went in with one foot, got the ball and the trailing leg wasn't with studs showing. But at first glance for a ref I can see why it was given.
C-man Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 It was a strong, purposeful tackle that in my opinion was perfectly and safely executed. He even made sure his leading leg shielded his trailing foot from Wilshire. There would be a damn-sight fewer injuries if everyone tackled in the way Kompany did this afternoon.
Super_horns Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 The Kompany tackle was one that does seem to get a lot of players sent off in the current game...wrongly. Not sure Arsenal can complain about their red card. Howard Webb did very well for the Man u game.. BTW This is the incident talked about above with the lineman and Lescott. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21006202

I'm just acknowledging the fact that it could have looked like a dangerous tackle from another angle because of the shape of Kompany's body and the impact with Wilshere. I'm not sure whether a foul could've been given without dishing out a red card in this instance or whether 'excessive force' automatically constitutes a sending off...
ScouseFox Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Haven't seen a replay yet, wasn't really watching at the time but there's pics like this doing the rounds on Twitter and that is literally the definition of the perfect tackle. Obviously can't all be judged from stills like. Will check it out on MOTD later.
Danno Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Kompany should have injured Wilshere. Hate that little ****

See that does look like a good tackle but there's another angle behind Kompany where it looks every bit a red card tackle.
StanSP Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 What we have to remember is that referee's see it in real-time and don't have the wonders of stills or countless replays. As ScouseFox said, the referee's angle showed that it was a clear red card because he sees both of Kompany's legs go towards the ball and not a side-on angle as the above picture shows. That first sentence was a bit 'stating-the-obvious', Apologies.

TheSomersetFox Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Kompany should have injured Wilshere. Hate that little **** Knobhead.
AKCJ Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Kompany should have injured Wilshere. Hate that little **** What? England best young player since Rooney and has the potential to be Barcelona standard added to the fact he's never in the papers for the wrong reasons.
HEGGSY Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 The Linesman at the Arsenal V Man City game, whilst shaking hands with the Man City players at the end of the game... "Go and thank your fans, they've paid 62 quid to see that" Fair play to him.
City_4_Life Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Fair play to the lino. C-man was saying earlier he used to post on here. The lino today used to post on here, some might remember john_lcfc? Anyone hear him say "they've paid £62 over there, go and see them!"? Chief.
Jimothy Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 Seeing QPR on 14 points at this stage of the season make me realise how shit that Derby team who finished the season on 11 really were!
StanSP Posted 13 January 2013 Posted 13 January 2013 What? England best young player since Rooney and has the potential to be Barcelona standard added to the fact he's never in the papers for the wrong reasons. I think he's over-rated, personally.
Super_horns Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Who was the lucky footballer then? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2261774/Top-Premier-League-star-scoops-125-000-Lottery-win-requests-anonymity--avoid-stick-fans.html?offset=0&max=100#comment-24482649
Fox92 Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Kompany should have injured Wilshere. Hate that little **** I have never though this about any footballer, especially one of our own (English player). As a football fan you don't want to see players get injured, especially good English players. Wilshere is a crackin' little player who has already had a long-term injury. No consistency with referees again though. Kompany did the exact thing against Norwich, and during Hull's game on Saturday night, Faye did the same thing.
Guest MattP Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 I think he's over-rated, personally. Same here, decent player but nothing screams at me yet to think he's going to be World Class.

Passing the ball 5 yards doesn't make you great. He's a cocky little knobhead who's overrated to fvck. Not a bad player but not world class. Wouldn't want him to break his leg or anything though
