purpleronnie Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Twice the amount Chelsea had against Barca.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 For the size of population i think the standards decent, and celtic have one of the best home records in the CL......not to shabby. Granted. Impressive as that is they also have one of the worst away ones !
Darkon84 Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Celtic had 34% possession. It depends where you read it though. BBC says 34%, Sky say 18%. Im not quite sure how they can give such differing stats there. A couple more here from Sky.... 62 Passing Success 90.9 20 Tackles 12 80 Tackles Success 91.7 16.4 Possession 83.6 26.5 Territorial Advantage 73.5 166 Total Passes 955 12 Total Crosses 32 Bugger, that pasted in as a nice little table. Im sure people can make sense of it though. http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/274125/report
21st Century Fox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Isn't he a Chelsea fan? Rod? No Celtic and Man United apparently. Despite his father being a supporter of Hibernian, he is a well-known supporter of Celtic, which he mentions in his hit "You're in My Heart", and the Scotland national team. Stewart also follows Manchester United as his English side, and he explains his love affair with both Celtic and Man United in Frank Worrall's book Celtic United.

Usually it's "Shots on Target" that varies quite wildly.

Yea the shots on target part with Sky is considerably lower, but then they have classed blocked shots seperately. There will always be slight differences I guess, but for the BBC to give twice as much possession as Sky give is quite a difference though. Not that it reaaaaally matters anyway .
AyewJoking Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 why the hate? Incredible result for Celtic. Even diehard bhoys know Barcelona are obviously the better team? The point is Celtic won the match and made history.

The point is Celtic won the match and made history. No hate at all. I was jumping around my living room when Watt scored! Just pointing out that the SPL and scottish football is next to nothing now. Look at whats happening to Hearts and Rangers who played Champions League football last season, now look at them.

You could say the same about leeds...and portsmouth who won the FA cup in 2008. I find it odd that some people equate success and quality purely on CL performances, the SPL have tiny resources compared to the EPL so the fact teams like celtic can defeat one of the best teams in europe is pretty special.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 It's not a great standard lets be honest. I don't like it when people call it a joke but at least half of the SPL wouldn't look out of place in League One and the old firm edge that used to give it at least a bit of grit is now gone. And fair play to them for winning but someone was smiling down on Celtic last night. 33% possesion having 3 shots all night, 2 of which came from the 2 corners they managed to win in the entire game and one from a defensive F8ck up, and two out of the three end up going in. Barcelona on the other hand dominate the game and have 25 shots 14, of which were on target, 2 of which hit the woodwork and they only score 1, on another day it could of been 10-2 Foster deserved his MOTM award . As I say well done to them but I'm afraid last nights victory was down to a decent goal keeping display and pure luck than Celtic proving anything about Scottish football. Agree with everything here except the fact celtic made there own luck and played to the best of their abilty.
Jimothy Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 Seems Roberto Di Matteo has decided Torres and Sturridge are so ineffective that he's not even bothered playing a striker tonight, just stuck an extra defender in the team.

One down, so not sure how long he is going to continue playing this team...

Leeds and Portsmouth are not two of the biggest clubs in England though, are they? Rangers and Hearts are two of the three biggest clubs in Scotland. A bit like taking two of Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool ect and giving them the same problems. Is it likely to happen? No, not a chance. Scottish football, minus Celtic, (like I said) is a joke.
AKCJ Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 http://youtu.be/YzKCSTElRvw Fair play!? Probably the goal that ****s Chelsea right up.
Guest shearfox Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 Probably the goal that ****s Chelsea right up. Goal of the season
FoxyPV Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 3-0 Juve There's some atmosphere in Juve's new stadium.
Jimothy Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 How long has Torres been on the pitch? Came on at about 70 minutes.
marko Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 Poor old Chelsea. If they go out won't they be the first club to be holders and exit at the group stage? Shame.
ScouseFox Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 Why don't Chelsea just recall Lukaku from West Brom and put him on the bench and bring him on when passing isn't working like tonight? Surely that'd be better than playing no striker and just generally being pretty shit.
ealingfox Posted 20 November 2012 Posted 20 November 2012 Would going out after the last round of matches be enough to sack RDM?
