Happy Fox Posted 9 January 2013 Posted 9 January 2013 To be fair you're right... Of course they are catchable. However two points: firstly, to catch the sides above us implies they themselves slip (which, yes, could happen). Secondly, with those players of quality I mentioned we wouldn't be having to play catch-up. I genuinely believe we'd be up with Cardiff. Pearson has done generally a grand job, lets hope we don't 'miss the boat' because we were just a little short from the start. As I said at the start of the season. I agree with what you are saying the slipping up off sides above us is key but what is also key is that we are yet to play Middlesbrough (h), Cardiff (a) and Palace (a) them three for me are crunch games in the automatic promotion hunt.

Potentially BIG games mate. I agree..
Babylon Posted 9 January 2013 Posted 9 January 2013 The problem is, you just can't let it go and let people have their opinions. Have I deleted peoples posts or something? No, so what are you talking about. If you post an opinion online, on a football message board, expect someone to respond. If you don't want people to disagree with you don't post. Beckford and Vardy are clearly not good enough I have said they have both been average.
Mack Posted 9 January 2013 Author Posted 9 January 2013 It's aimed at anyone who defends Beckfords time here and slates Vardy. So what are you saying? I cant think Vardy is a couple of divisions above where he belongs unless I also think Beckford is a steaming sack of shit?
indierich06 Posted 9 January 2013 Posted 9 January 2013 So what are you saying? I cant think Vardy is a couple of divisions above where he belongs unless I also think Beckford is a steaming sack of shit? Of course you can. Just be prepared for people to disagree.

Babylon Posted 9 January 2013 Posted 9 January 2013 So what are you saying? I cant think Vardy is a couple of divisions above where he belongs unless I also think Beckford is a steaming sack of shit? You can think what you want. But if you defend a man who has never scored more than 9 league goals above league one at the age of 29, and took until march to score 4 for us. And then write Vardy off after 21 games and 4 goals by December in his first season... I'm going to think you are a bit of a hypocrite. I think they are both lacking, at this moment.

Manwell Pablo Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 So what? Had he proved himself in the Championship? There are plenty of players who get promoted to the Premier League and find themselves out of their depth and people acknowledge that. Beckford is a very good League One striker, but if Jamie Vardy is out of his depth in this league, Beckford must be drowning. To be fair to him, Beckford was a pretty reasonable Premier League Striker when you look at his record. And Huddersfield seem quite happy with him. He was just shite in a Leicester shirt for some reason.

And Hudds might be happy with him, but he's still only scored 3 for them. I think he's flattered to deceive everywhere he's been since he left Leeds.

They were mostly subsititue apperances, when broken down into minutes his record is 1/2 games.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 10 January 2013 Posted 10 January 2013 Well, Football is a game of opinions No its not it a game played with a ball, with passion skill and pride. The opinion part is a add on by the media to fool you into thinking yours matters

That's not too bad for his first year at that level.

As you may know I like to judge on minutes per goal, and as MP pointed out he has a good record for Everton, in the prem, 1 goal every 175 minutes on the pitch, his record in league 1 was 1 goal every 142 minutes, in the FA Cup 1 goal every 84 minutes, but in the championship it is worse that 1 goal every 311, and for someone whose job it is to score, as he contributes little else, that is average at best, the same as Vardy, and worse than Nugent, Waghorn, Futacs and Wood.
Lionator Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Early pages in this thread make very interesting reading on a lunch break. Shows just how far the guy's come.
Captain... Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I'd like to simply reiterate that I think there's more to come from Vardy. We've seen little glimpses of what he can do. However, I'd also like to reiterate that Pearson took not an inexpensive gamble with Vardy. Making such a step up WAS a gamble IMO. And thus far, it's not paid off. The gamble on Vardy may well not have paid off. But I think he WILL get better. IMO. To be fair to Col, he did tell us so.
Ric Flair Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I gave Vardy dogs abuse from the moment he gave that peno away vs Middlesborough last January up until it became evident Pearson had the utmost faith in him and I realised he perhaps could cut it at this level. I actually think he'll play for England, there I said it. Oh my god.
Spiritwalker Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 For a worrying moment there I thought he had been caught up in the floods, he's only 5ft 9.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 To be fair to Col, he did tell us so. Hang on, if you start telling us that Col told us so, what is Col going to post? All we need now is someone other than kingfox to say kingfox is funny and the entire of FT will collapse into itself...

A decent bloke might criticise someone when they are wrong but highlight when they are perhaps right. Like CPF has done?
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I stand by what I said, people did have a right to be upset with the 7 figure wastage last season, a loan move would of benefited him as it would have helped him adapt and regain confidence, and if we go up, I'd want him on the bench at best.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 A decent bloke might criticise someone when they are wrong but highlight when they are perhaps right. Like CPF has done? TBF, I'm very pleasantly surprised by how balanced most people were in this thread-the worst that any reasonable poster said was 'If we want to go up, we haven't got time to wait for him to come good', which was possibly true. You were, of course, bang on throughout this thread. And I sometimes laugh at KF's jokes. Bloody hell, bad day for my self esteem...
LCFC FOX Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I hate to say it but.. I agree. He's convincing me more and more he's not cut out for this level by every game. Such a shame as I honestly thought he'd be a big hit. you thought right Dan
Jace Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Well hes certainly good enough now no chance we would be sitting in the table where we are now if it wasnt for him this season and we certainly wouldn't have had anywhere near as many penalties. Many will say Danny Drinkwater but for me he is player of the season so far
