cc_star Posted 27 February 2013 Posted 27 February 2013 schlupp being at man utd might have something to do with the eppp that leicester are going through at the minute dont you think ? hes not on trial , lcfc and him have never ever mentioned the word trial . there are a few things going onat the club that are making the guessing game get even more clouded . hes just not on trial . Arrangement was what Pearson has said. So reading between the lines and the timing of the deal around Keane's extension.... I take it to mean as long as we have Keane... they want Schlupp. Simple as. As has been mentioned several times they're short up front having played wingers & midfielders up there so it makes sense they want something - and who better than someone who can play up front & at the back. I keep mentioning I'd play Schlupp every day of the week at LB, but we need Keane desperately so if this is what it takes to have him on loan until the end of the season, then so be it.
Happy Fox Posted 27 February 2013 Posted 27 February 2013 imo the reason why we have let Schlupp go their is to develop him as a player I think NP sees him as a future LB for City once Konchesky leaves/retires.
dynamark Posted 27 February 2013 Posted 27 February 2013 I see the keane loan as a part of the deal with schluup may end up with the both or maybe neither .Now kane is here not so much of an issue.
nickm Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 We develop players like keane and give them the real world experience they wouldn't get at old trafford. Cleverley was a nobody before he came to us and now he's an England international. We are one of man uniteds chosen few who are trusted to develop their startlets.
Ric Flair Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 I'm glad he's training there, as a forward I don't think we can get the best out of him in our current set up. Pearson is excellent at improving defenders, especially youngsters but his record at working well with young strikers is hardly proven. If he is going to be a striker then 4-6 months training with United and him come back here might be invaluable to Schlupp and us! Obviously if he joins them then the only benefit we get is whatever fee is agreed and possibly some players in return down the line but his rawness up front needs to be honed and there's no better man than Ferguson and his staff for that right now.

Jimmy Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 I see what you are saying, so why would Kane be loaned to us? Because Spurs want him playing football
cjslcfc Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 http://www.telegraph...21s-outing.html Manchester United offer Leicester City youngster Jeff Schlupp chance to land contract with under-21's outing Manchester United are set to give Leicester youngster Jeff Schlupp another chance to land a contract tonight. Rising star: Leicester City's 20 year-old Jeff Schlupp could be in line for Manchester United contract Photo: GETTY IMAGES By John Percy 2:30PM GMT 01 Mar 2013 Comment Schlupp is on trial at United and expected to play for the under-21s at West Ham on Friday evening, in his second appearance of the week. The 20 year-old has been with United since January and tentative negotiations have already been held between the two clubs over a permanent deal. It is believed a fee rising to £2.5 million after add-ons has been discussed, though no deal has been agreed as yet. United view the youngster as raw but with undoubted potential and his ability to play either at left-back or up front has impressed under-21s coach Warren Joyce. Nigel Pearson, the Leicester manager, can recall Schlupp at any time and the Ghana international watched the Championship club's 3-0 win over Blackburn on Tuesday night. Pearson also signed Ritchie De Laet and Matty James in the summer from Old Trafford. Schlupp, who has made eight league appearances for Leicester this season, featured for United's under-21s against Liverpool on Monday and is scheduled to appear at Upton Park tonight. Manwell Pablo Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 If it was anyone else I'd think 2.5 Million for Schlupp is an excellent deal. They can pay double that though
cjslcfc Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 If it was anyone else I'd think 2.5 Million for Schlupp is an excellent deal. They can pay double that though Maybe they can chuck a couple of loanees and Michael Keane in as well
cc_star Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 Zaha £15m... Schlupp for a fee rising to £2.5m? Very few players are worth what ManUtd paid for Zaha - But there isn't a cat in hells chance there is 6 times the difference at this stage.
Happy Fox Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 2.5m seems a tad small, unless their is guarantees that we could get Keane and Powell on season long loans I wouldn't do the deal.
The Guvnor Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 If this is true, I am completely underwhelmed by that derisory offer!!
chili_con_carne Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 We would be idiotic to try and barter with united after all the favours they've done for us. If we want to keep a good relationship then they can have him for a reasonable offer.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 I don't think you can compare Zaha with JS, one was an ever present first team player in the championship and the other is JS, rated as a prospect but virtually untried and inexperienced at this level. If he goes then a fee with add ons is the best we can expect. I'd actually be prepared to let him go fairly cheaply but with big add ons if he achieves certain criteria.
lcfcsnow Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 2.5 million? Snap their hands off, I wasn't expecting much more than a million or a player swap. I don't think he has the finishing ability/composure to become a top striker but would love to be proven wrong.
phillo Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 Are we gonna except their first offer or see what deal we can get
davieG Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2013/03/01/3790367/-? Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare has revealed there have been no further negotiations regarding the sale of Jeffrey Schlupp to Manchester United.Schlupp, who can play on the left flank or as a striker, has spent the last four weeks on trialwith the Red Devils' Under-21 side, having been touted as a possible star of the future. However, Shakespeare claimed that there is currently no deal in place to take the Leicester academy graduate to Old Trafford on a permanent basis. "We have not heard anything to that effect [that the club have agreed a deal],†Shakespeare told reporters. “It is an on-going situation, as reported before. There is no change in that.†Schlupp has featured in both defensive and attacking roles whilst on trial with United, yet made his name as a striker under former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson by scoring a hat-trick on his first team debut against Rotherham United two years ago. While not a first-team regular at King Power Stadium, Schlupp has made a total of nine appearances for the Foxes so far this season, and Shakespeare insists the player is still part of the club. "Jeff was at the game on Tuesday [during Leicester City's 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers] and came in to see the lads,†he said. "We are in constant dialogue with Jeff and Manchester United. Again it is a situation we are at ease with.†The 20-year-old German-born striker is scheduled to appear in a further Under-21 fixture for United, however, Leicester are also able to recall the player at any time if needed. Shakespeare continued: "He is due to play another game for them and then we will take it from there. "It is open-ended but they are not going to keep him for six months and not make a decision. But at the same time, if we feel we need to use him here we will. It is all very relaxed.
CloudFox Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 I would be so sad to see him go, for whatever fee, but if the benefits we get for this link with Man Utd outweigh the loss of Jeff overall...well I'll still be gutted, but I'll wish him all the best.
dynamark Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 get him back serving burgers in stringys 'catering'outlet feet back on the ground and all that. No doubt they will have another good look in this next u 21 game and we may see something come of this or not
MANFACE Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 We would be idiotic to try and barter with united after all the favours they've done for us. If we want to keep a good relationship then they can have him for a reasonable offer. Totally agree.
Jaspa Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 Totally agree. Were both Clubs You would expect them to expect us to want as much as we can get for our talent that they supposedly rate £20m + Keane
dannythefox Posted 1 March 2013 Posted 1 March 2013 If its not serious money then I think we should keep him he has a chance of playing prem football one day unlike Waggy or Vardy and he can play left back. There's not many players who can play two positions well.
