Premier League 2013/14 Stuff it in here!

Moyes built the current generation of Everton up from nothing.

They had no good players and were perennial 12-17th finishers.

He left them with Coleman, Jagielka, Baines, Fellaini and Mirallas via routinely keeping Everton in the top 6/7 and qualifying for the Champions League.

If there's one thing Moyes has proved he can do, it's build a team that needs re-vamping

Your main point about Moyes' ability to build a good side without spending megabucks is a good one. However, Everton were hardly poverty-stricken either - and he only managed to qualify for the Champions League once, going out in the qualifying round. A highly creditable effort overall, but he never quite broke through into the big time with the big money boys.

If, as now seems likely, Man Utd fail to qualify for the Champions League, what sort of money will the Glazers offer him for rebuilding in the summer, assuming he's still in post? OK, they stumped up £37m or whatever for Mata, but was that just a last-gasp gamble on making the Champions League again? Will Rooney & Mata be there, playing in the Europa League next season?

Maybe they'll offer Moyes something like the sums he was given at Everton - enough to build a squad routinely finishing 6th/7th?

If so, I wonder how the MU fans will take that? To be fair, though, I didn't hear much booing today - presumably not as fickle as LCFC fans, some of whom turn on their leading scorer when their team fails to win more than 9 games in a row?

I don't have sufficient interest to study the financial aspect of football in detail, but presumably it would also have a massive impact on the club's potential if they spend several years as an "also-ran" club....much less dosh in sponsorship/advertising/shirt sales in Asia etc. etc.

Interesting times.... Football's knackered by money generally, but it looks like there might be a little more movement in the hierarchy than we thought was possible. Man Utd's inaction in the summer transfer market is looking criminally stupid now...

Moyes doesn't really strike me as a 'builder' type of manager and I think he can continue to throw money at the situation but it won't get him anywhere which will ultimately get him sacked.

A new manager will come that'll be able to sort them out financially and build a team for the future which probably won't work out in the short term but in the whole it'll put them back on track as a club with both the playing staff and finances looking good.

Worryingly, it points to Pearson !

Moyes never really built Everton either, they were already a top six side before he arrived there. Can you still believe the manager that is managing Man U is the man that signed Jermaine Beckford!

Occurred to me watching earlier, that I would think Jurgen Klopp could be seriously tempted in the summer should Man U chop Moyes (as they really should - we all knew they would drop off this season but did anyone really expect them to be this shit?). Klopp's Dortmund tenure looks to be stagnating, his best player is sold every summer, and most regrettably the Bundesliga has died a death.

If I was the kingmaker at MUFC I'd have already sounded him out.

League finishes prior to Moyes joining Everton were 15th, 17th, 14th,13th, 16th, and 15th. Not really top 6 is it!

Beckford was a useful player for them. But really, if you're going to highlight Moyes' failed signings at Everton, they won't come close to the embarrassing mistakes SAF made at United!!

Moyes did build a team of good footballers. The likes of Peinnar, Baines, Osman etc are all good on the ball. I've no doubt that Moyes left a bit of a platform for Martinez/whoever the next Everton manager was going to be.

I think you meant bottom six.

5-1? Wow.

I've not seen a Liverpool performance like that in years, maybe the 08-09 season can come close with the 4-1 win away at United and the 4-0 hammering we gave Real Madrid. But Saturday was amazing, I was shivering when the fourth went in, couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The strike from Suarez would of been goal of the season, I had to work whilst watching the game in the pub, me being one of three Liverpool fans obviously jumped up and shouted when he the post but so did the whole pub, unreal strike. Arsenal really didn't know what hit them.

Players like Wilshire, Ozil, Giroud, Monreal and to a certain degree Mertesacker just didn't want it on Saturday, that's to not take anything away from any Liverpool player, anyone who watched the whole game still think it would be a 'travesty' if Jordan Henderson went to the World Cup? lol

Not even going to bother writing about Man United and David Moyes, I don't know why people are even surprised anymore..

Right, I've said for a while (sure others have, too) that Man Utd won't get Champions League football, maybe not even Europa but that's a bit of a stretch. They're simply not consistent enough and looking at their next few fixtures which are all away, I can only see them getting 2 or 3 points (lose against Arsenal, maybe 1 win or 2 draws vs Palace/WBA). They also have Liverpool and Man City to face next month.

So if they don't get Champions League football, who thinks that their bigger players will force a move, or will they stay loyal in the hope that it will get better next season? I can envisage Rooney forcing a move away, most likely abroad if Chelsea don't come sniffing.

Will Moyes last til the end of the season even though European football may be out of sight?

Can't see VP still being there next season, Rooney will because of his influence behind the scenes, I'd expect Utd to splash the cash in the summer.  I think Moyes will be OK, at least for one more season anyway.

You said that. Not me.

You said that it would be a travesty if he didn't go. I merely said I wouldn't take him because I think we have better midfield players. Besides, its not like he shone in particular. He was probably the 5th best English player.

Arsenal were absolutely awful and they couldn't deal with set pieces or Liverpool's pace and it's as simple as that. The second half was much more even but Liverpool still controlled the game. Yesterday summed up why they're not going to win the league and last week summed up why Chelsea will.

I wasn't actually getting at you but, ok..

Liverpool scored two of the 5 goals from set pieces, they couldn't handle Liverpool full stop.

5th best player? What do you mean? On the day?

Whatever.

Which is why I said that Arsenal couldn't deal with set pieces...

Yes, on the day. I would say he's behind Sturridge, Gerrard and Sterling but I thought Flanagan was very good for you.

Sad news indeed, it's a shame we're going to lose another old traditional stadium.

Sad news?

It's bloody brilliant news.

Their turnstiles are a joke.

I went a couple of season's ago, and there was literally five people occupying the seat next to me.
