Dave Richards- new chairman?

why would he care? he has a budget and trusted that the Director of Football would have enough sense and negotiating skill to get the best deal possible or come back to him and say sorry Sven that 1 is going to cost too much

Sven SHOULD of cared for the same reason Pearson does. Pearson realizes that having a few players on huge wages in the championship is detrimental to the balance of the squad and the motivation levels.whats the point of striving for the prem if you're already earning 30k in the championship?

I think sven was planning on signing more big earners to balance it out

Sven believed in his ability to get promotion so signed players on premiership wages ..... The only reason this is now a concern is that he didn't get the chance to finish what he started and NP hasn't got us promoted still.

If he had finished what he had started we would be going to hell in a handcart by now. Even if he had by some miracle got us up with the players he had signed on 30,000 plus a week who were barely good enough for the championship, we would have been destroyed in the Premiership..

Imagine the mess we would have been in after all his spunking in the top flight after we had been relegated.

If Sven wasn't interested in what his new players were going to be earning then he damn well should have been. The blame is not just his, the people above him could have said we aren't spending that at any point. But he damn well should take some of the blame for many average players being paid much more than they are worth.

He identified these players and he should also be involved in the process of deciding if they are value for money or not. That's the whole point of a manager, if you don't think x player is worth x amount, you choose another player who is. Any manager worth their salt will want to know roughly what a player is costing in fees, wages, and how long they are going to be at the club.

I love on here how people blame people without knowing the facts.

Yes Babs you are correct he should have known cos yes it would be a problem.

But if our owners told him his job was to pick a team and identify new signings and that is it then thats what he's done.

He may have been told finance was nothing to do with him and was only to talk to new players about football matters.

All the so called facts we here on here should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I doubt many players go in and bragg what they are on and terms on contracts and I bet they are all different.

We can all discuss it on here but none know the facts so why do people get so upset.

Like most forums 50% on here are only here to stir shite and cause trouble and wum.

Anychance of a salt pot in the corner of the screen for people from now on. lol

but what did sven start that he couldn't finish? definitely wasnt a promotion charge because we were woeful under him and showed little sign of improving.

Then he should have explained to them that part of management is know who earns what.

I do not disagree with you but he may have been told they are the terms take it or leave it.

And he took it but he has said all the time since he left finance was nothing to do with him.

And no I dont think he was sacked harshly he had time and money.

Then he should have left it. Sorry, but I do not believe for one moment they denied him knowledge or input into what they paid for players in either fees or wages. It makes absolutely no sense that they would do that, unless he didn't actually give a crap.

Unless they did not want every tom dick and sven knowing there business as some people don't.

And that would not supprise me the way they go about other business.

We get to know nothing now till sorted with our new owners.

Not sure what's surprising?? If we'd have got promoted we'd have been saying what great value those signings were ..... it's business ..... it was a risk that didn't pay off, and a plan that wasn't given enough time. The Thais pulled in their poker chips too early .... now we are left with the consequences of a failed gamble that could have succeeded.

Anyway .... Is he the new chairman or not?? It's all gone quiet.

But he didn't get us up and there was not a single point other than arguably after the Cov game, where we uncharacteristically won playing shite, that anyone could've genuinely thought "we're going up", maybe the Derby game too but it was clear he'd got us zero value for money.

The gamble wasn't going to succeed. There was no real plan A, let alone plan B. We signed players who frankly didn't want to go up. Maybe that's harsh - but players who are on contracts that they call easily fall back on should they fail, there was absolutely no incentive for those lot to work for promotion, and that's why it failed.

I'm glad we got rid when we did. I dread to think what he'd have done in January when we'd have inevitably been sitting about 14th.

If it wasn't for Schmeichel's early season form (credit, Sven signed him) we'd have been in a relegation battle.

Saved me the job there Dan. I was shocked that 5waller5 seemed to be hinting that Sven should have had longer and that somehow those players who have been gash under him and since then would have somehow come good if only Svennis had been given more time.

Regardless of how you feel about NP, Sven was a disaster and the Thais were sucked in.

When we had Chelsea away in the cup game, the 5-2 one, he was interviewed and he said something along the lines of "well I haven't watched them since I got sacked so I'll be looking out for that one" - says it all to me. The bloke doesn't care for Leicester City so why is it any surprise he signed players who had the same mentality?

I'll openly admit I was suckered in too. I backed him when he was here but it's been a big lesson if anything.

I still love Sven, always will. It might not of worked but seeing Yakubu in a Leicester shirt at times was magical. Being a Leicester fan is the pits 99% of the time so that little bit of panache was welcome. Not to mention Naughton, the wonder Kyle Naughton.

Well there are a few on here that seem to know what every player is earning.

I'm with you on this one Ric. Jees some of the blinkered visionaries on here are just unbelievable. Manager gets the hoof from a club and after is supposed to then follow us home and away as has been muted is a joke. We will never know where we would have ended up cos he was never given a full season. Still believe it was purely for financial reasons added to the point of announcing the Thais profile into English football. Look people we can sign a name. It is blatantly obvious they are not as rich as they make out added to the fact it is also clear they know naff all about football. I would go as far to say that if any other manager at any other club had only won three games in seventeen as our present one has they would have been given the boot long ago regardless of who it was.

Yes pearsonites that is a dig at your beloved Nigel.

Yakubu showed he could still cut it in the PL when he went to Blackburn and scored 15 goals. We'll not have a player of his calibre at the club again for a long while. Sven was a pleasure to have as manager, it didn't work out but i'll not forget him. Well... yes.

Agree with ric and have gone on record before.Lots to enjoy under sven(according to nancy boom).

Short memories remember the position points wise we were in before he arrived.Yak,Naungton Van Anholt,Vassell even football at pace.Quite enjoyed watching ricardo dribble over half way.Sven was brilliant with the press(compared to you know who)absolute gent.

However he had his failings and the owners pulled the trigger so we moved on.Got us out of a deep doo doo

Yes you are right about Yakubu Ric , I was wrong.

I'd rather have someone uncharismatic in charge who does the best for the club rather than someone who said all the right things to the press and left us in the worst financial shape we've ever been in.

In other words a yes man who has no real football insight or passion.
