The ones who don't turn up are annoying.

Also there was this one bird in Sheffield who was like "come and see me", so I booked non refundable train tickets worth £30 then the day before I was going she was like "oh I can't do tomorrow". I was gonna use the tickets to go to Leeds as we were playing them that day but Leeds match ticket price was about £30 which I didn't have.

Couldn't you earn the price of a ticket in the Leeds Red LIght district?

I'd have to pay people to use me

Bet the only dates you've had are out of a packet.

In the mid 1990s, I met a young lady in a club in Edinburgh. It was really loud in the club, and I had to leave with the people I was with, so I arranged to meet her the following night at the cinema (old school "date").

When we met, she piped up "Oh, yer English? I dinnae really like the English. I couldnae hear yir accent proprerly last night..." Being used to casual anti-Englishness at the time, I shrugged that I am who I am and does she still want to go an see a film, or what?

At that time, the film "Amistad" was one of the films on show and we walked past a cardboard cut out of the characters in the foyer.  It depicted something like this:

As the non-existent Deity is my witness, she actually said "Ah, ye ken - Blaaack people in chains. That's how it should be, eh?"

The night before, I'd just had a peck, so it was also something of a disappointment to notice that she had halitosis so bad that my eyes watered.

I gave her a false name and number.

I win.

Really lovely Welsh girl at university. She really liked me - came over and bought me a beer one night in the Uni bar. We decided to meet for a 'proper date' the following Friday. City were playing Stoke on the big screen in the bar and I became quite distracted by our pathetic 3-2 collapse and inability to defend crosses. And I never saw her again.

Why would you arrange to meet a girl when city are playing on the big screen? that date was doomed to fail from the start!!

Sorry, have to agree with this.

I suppose you could consider it a test though - if you can focus on the lady in question rather than the City game you know you've got a keeper.

This isn't one of mine or really a worst date but quite a few years ago my mate pulled this gobby horrendous girl with bad attitude(this is before what happened)Now this particular mate had no standards, didnt give a shit and would do anything for a laugh.

He pulled this bird the night before and was meeting us in the pub,we were chatting beforehand how bad this bird was ,and my mate with us said lets phone him up to see what time he is coming. It was noisy in the pub so my mate couldn't hear much to be honest but he said" what time are you coming to the pub?and I hope your not coming with that Kevin Keegan lookalike with a face like a bag of spanners" end of conversation .Few minutes later he walks in with " Kevin Keegan" with a face so angry it would make milk curdle!my pulling mate said " this is the one that was on the phone, pointing at our mate in the pub.He had been on loud speaker in the car.She poured a pint over him, slapped him and stormed off.

This is the same bloke who pulled a girl while he was living with someone and gave her a false address.Only to put his and his girlfriends house on the market ,someone came around to view.Guess who it was? He had to usher her into another room and beg her not to say a thing.Fair play she didnt as she had her boyfriend with her at the time,of which he knew nothing about!it was the most awkward 30 mins of his life he reckoned.

First date with a stunning air hostess who had been in the pub all afternoon with her mates and threw up within half an hour of me taking her out. Class

Went on a date with a lad with a Charlton fan on the dole a little while back.

He took me on the bus to fvcking Burger King and then had the cheek to make me pay half. Seemed to think he was a catch as well.

Dodged a bullet there.

Went for a meal with a local girl on our first proper date.  She came round my house & we shared half a bottle of wine.  Then went for a curry where I had a pint & she had a glass of wine.  Went back to mine afterwards & finished the other half of the bottle of wine.  I'm not a big drinker & rarely have alcohol in the house.  We were getting on great but needed more alcohol.  The only thing I had was a bottle of Jack Daniels which was a birthday present from a few months ago.  We had a couple of large JD's.  So she had had a little over half a bottle of wine & a couple of JD's.........she was pissed & fell asleep.  I carried on drinking with her sleeping with her legs across my lap.  I just about polished off the JD & fell asleep myself.

I woke up about 2 hours later.  I looked down at her & there was a big wet patch on the sofa.  She had only pissed herself!!  I got up & tried to wake her - pretending I hadn't noticed.  She came to me in the kitchen saying "I'm not sure but I think I've had an accident".  She was mortified & nearly in tears.  I was struggling to keep a straight face.  It was about 3 in the morning & she asked if I could walk her home.  I said it was too late, she should stay at mine & that she would "catch a chill" if she went outside.

I did see her a couple more times, but the weak bladder was the least of her problems!!  She made me promise that I wouldn't tell anyone, but I'm not sure there's anyone I haven't told.  I still see her around occasionally, as she lives in the same village.  She gives me daggers.  I think she knows I never kept it a secret.

Very true. But in my defense I didn't know they would be showing it...

I realise that this makes me the worst kind of person but anyway...

When I was about 22 I worked at Billy Hills in Leeds I went out with a girl who also worked there. She was gorgeous but really quiet.

Anyway I asked her out for a date and took her to Frankie and Benny's (classy). Things were going quite well, we'd had a few jars when all of a sudden she starts to open up about how she was abused by her uncle from the age of about 10 and how she'd lived with her 35 year old boss when she was 16.

Not being quite sure how to react to all of this, I excused myself to go to the loo, settled the bill and fvcking legged it. Text her about 5 mins later claiming I had to run home as I was sick (pathetic I know).

Took some flowers in to work the next day to apologise but she never talked to me again and left about a week later. Still feel bad about it now!

As a guy that's always been single, I read most of these thinking "WTF are you doing!!!???". Still, at least you have stories :(

No real shockers but did once go on a blind date and she was absolutely awful.

Just remember getting so pissed on wine that I ended up being sick on the floor right next to the table in the restaurant.

Just walked out and hailed a cab. Don't really enjoy dates if im being honest.
