Nugent - " Leicester Boo Boys"

Recommended Posts

"If there are any moaners out there, then perhaps it will keep them quiet for a couple of weeks," he said.

"Instead of getting on my back, perhaps they can get behind the team and we can push on and get promoted.

"People are saying I haven't scored enough goals, but I have got 10 already this season. You can never keep all the fans happy.

"Six have been penalties, but this is the first season I have taken pens and, in previous years when I have been the leading goalscorer, all the goals have come from open play.

"If they want to get on my back, I don't care because I am doing it for the team and the staff.

Support away from home has generally been much more positive and encouraging, it's at home where the problem lies.

Nugent hasn't received that much stick in the ground, people are normally frustrated and in some ways he should take it as a compliment because they feel he can do better.

At least, :fc:, we seem to have moved on from the era of booing players on to the pitch and chanting for substitutes after a couple of wayward passes.

I hate this shite. Some players get all mouthy as soon as they hit form again. I bet he wouldn't have dared talked in this way 2 weeks ago, or in that period between February and October where he was absolutely wank.

Just get the fvck on with it, some of his criticism has been very justified.

Great post.

He's deserved the criticism, he hasn't been good enough. Lots of our fans are loving him again due to Saturday. These were the same fans that were criticising him after the Forest match.

But what you are failing to see here is further evidence of the breakdown between the fans and the players, I am pretty sure that everyone at the club is aware of the abuse players like Gallagher and others got.

"If they want to get on my back, I don't care because I am doing it for the team and the staff."

That is what he said, he isn't doing it for the fans, we are almost getting to an us and them situation, which is ridiculous when we all want the same thing, everyone claims they don't hear the abuse at games, but that is bollocks, it doesn't have to be 20,000 people shouting "Nugent is a willy puller" but you hear plenty of comments, moans and groans. It is not all social meadia's fault, although Twitter probably makes things worse.

It is just clear to me that a lot of the players aren't playing for the fans anymore and I don't really blame them.

The irony that his worst leicester form is away from home aswell!

Agree with this post.

Hahahaha I find this laughable, the lad has been dog muck by his standards for the majority of 2013. I'd also question what abuse he's received, it's likely he's received some on forums and on twitter. That's about it. The games i've been to where he has been poor, he's not received much abuse from our fans so he's going on a minority on the internet. Football is a sport where you'll receive a lot of flak and a lot of praise, he's a character who thrives on both in my opinion. He loves to play the pantomime villain with away fans and he absolutely laps it up from our fans when we sniff his 'arris.

I hope the bit of abuse he's received off us makes him get his finger out because he's been lacklustre and he's paid very, very well to perform to the best of his ability.

This is coming from a massive Nugent fan as well who has stuck up for him most of the time, but in recent weeks i've been furious with him and this dig at the fans has irked me.

Do players really expect and want their fans to be a bunch of window lickers, clapping them and praising them no matter what? Well tough shit, i've seen him be very vocal on twitter about his Everton team and players so as a supporter he'd be every bit like we are when our players and team aren't doing what they're capable of.

Spot on

But I don't think he's received that much stick? He's obviously an avid reader of forums along with his twitter account. Well he's always going to get a bit of criticism when he's not doing well and he's putting himself in the firing line by reading the stuff. Forums are the one place i'd rather read peoples frustrations than hear them vent it at matches and although our fans are a bit too trigger happy at not getting behind our players when things aren't going our way, i'm simply not accepting that Nugent is receiving dogs abuse by our fans at matches.

Only Nuge can really say what stick he's had.

would any player be happy If a contractor they were paying good money to  was not delivering?  no.   my advice to any player getting stick is let your football do the talking. your  life could be a lot worse you know.

Funny how Leicester fans have changed since I started going to games 20 years ago this month.

I don't recall the boos and abuse if we went in 1-0 down at half time, I don't recall individual players getting singled out by the fans just because they were off form.

I personally think Nuge is spot on, we have a lot of arsehole fans and I wish they'd just shut up half the time!

Well I've been going for 36 years now and I still haven't heard abuse or recall individual players getting singled out by the fans just because they were off form.

When you consider the amount we pay to watch some players perform as if they are just going through the motions I think we're very patient and the players should shut up ****ing whining.

Seriously can anyone explain what abuse he has taken on the pitch?

Same with Drinkwater and his cupping of his ear.

I must be deaf or perhaps it's because I don't use Twitter but I have yet to hear abuse.

Much tho I'm all for people having a right to an opinion and if they choose to voice it then fine.

But the bit that worries me is the I'm doing it for the staff.

Great so another player who doesn't realise it's the vocal minority that are getting on his back, We've had, incidents with DD, Marshall, Konch, we all know how everything before that was Gally's, or Wellens fault and now Nugent has expressed a similar feeling, why are our fans so expectant, we are Leicester City a team that overachieved under MON, hasn't seen the top flight for nearly a decade. Struggled in the 2nd tier for most of that time.

We have average professional players, we aren't Barca, Madrid, Chelsea or Utd(ok so even they have average players) so ok Nugent isn't in the best form of his career, but he's not ronaldo or messi, he is going to have up's and downs, as do most of our players, infact I reckon only Wes Morgan, Moore and Knocky are the only players that don't have pages and pages of posts questioning their ability.

even the likes of Kingy, played how many games for this club, kasper, lloyd, vardy, wood etc, have all been slagged at some point.

When are we just gonna be happy(ish) with what we have got.

I for one hope we have learnt from past mistakes on and off the pitch, hopefully we return 3 points against millwall on saturday putting us in a good position before we face our fellow leaders.

Who knows, 7 points from those games and that gap down to 4th looks even better. Maybe backing the boys, may just help.

Do you really think many players 'play for the fans'? If so, I think you're naive.

The players play for their contracts and to improve their contracts if possible. Football is a job, it's hard work (these guys are as fit as fook) it's no longer a vocation.

Yes, it must be nice to be idolised by a section of supporters, but with the adoration so too must come criticism. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Any modem-day sportsman who uses Twitter and any other forum to gauge opinion and to post comments must learn to take the rough with the smooth, the good with the bad. Because both are there in equal measure.

Personally, I've always thought if I were a sportsman (lol fat chance), I'd stay away from the social media and just get on with what I was doing. That way, I wouldn't get carried-away by people that thought I was God's Gift one week, and the Devil Incarnate the next. Usually the same people, I might add.

Ooh Col you can't say that on here, many believe the players love the club and NFP and would never leave.

I'd hope that our cub were professional enough to give the players training on social media.

He's spot on and it's about time some of our fans have a good hard look at themselves. These same fans who are booing and constantly putting down players like Nuge then have the cheek to turn around and deride players who they deem to have a lack of loyalty, or love for the club. Well the club is the fans and as a whole we are not supporting our players, so why would they be loyal to us! Nugent is a top scorer over the last few years and despite being 4th top scorer in the league, we are giving him stick because some of them are penalties!!! It is absurd and if this kind of knee-jerk, short-term thinking criticism is the best you have to offer the club as a fan, then we are better off without you and you can **** off to derby or something.
