Corky Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Gallagher did get some stick but fans generally don't like players who bottle challenges. Unless the name is Gallagher. If it is Ben Marshall it's largely glossed over.
StanSP Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Do people think he is bad on purpose? He obviously wants to score every game, "letting him no he's not been good enough" is a bullshit reason. Plus he has been good enough we are winning nearly every game. I don't like to be vitriolic or slate players lots, but even I'd admit he hasn't done well form-wise. Goal-scoring wise he has performed (penalties included), but he could do so much better.
ealingfox Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Yes you can and should. I've walked out of a film after about 20 minutes as it was a load of pony, I think I flicked the v's at the screen as well and I definitely told some goober to fook off who derided me for getting up during the film. I'll take bodies. Wow, you sure showed them. Don't you think you went a bit far?

Goal-scoring wise he has performed (penalties included), but he could do so much better. As long as we are winning he is good enough. Sure he could do better, but he has contributed in many ways, is 4th top scorer in the league and our second highest in assists. So as long as we are in good form as a team, we need to support him and trust him to find his absolute top form at the right time.
Ric Flair Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Wow, you sure showed them. Don't you think you went a bit far? No, but I did then go on to IMDB.com and criticised the actor on the messageboard and they read it and got really upset. They cupped their ears when they went on Jonathan Ross as well.
hackneyfox Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 As long as we are winning he is good enough. That is just plain wrong, no team is perfect and can nearly always be improved upon. If a manager thought as lazily as this his team would soon be punished.
Harry - LCFC Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 I think it's pretty clear that our current squad do want to play for us, if only a little for some. That isn't naive of me to see that, it's observant.
Foxymcoxy Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 That is just plain wrong, no team is perfect and can nearly always be improved upon. If a manager thought as lazily as this his team would soon be punished. You are just chatting shit for the sake of it. I obviously didn't say it can't be improved upon. In fact I explicitly said it could but you left that part out of your quote.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 This thread is actually bringing all the 'boo boys' out from hiding Don't include me, as I am a great fan of his. Some people don't seem to realize that all players have bad patches, and Nuge is no different. He is a quality player, as he has proved many times. Get in there Nuge.
Corky Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Col I totally agree with you I was just pointing out that you'll be upsetting a few on here who seem to believe that the players love the club as much as they do. Who actually believes or has said that?
MattyFromLE Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 I agree bert, However when having a poor game, Claiming to have a desire to try for the team and play well... and actually doing it, are different, More often than not when having a poor game (Most of his apps since january) instead of working hard to make something happen in the game, he stops bothering, jogs around, doesnt chase anything and wonders why he gets stick.... Complete and utter bullshit. Please tell me when you have ever seen Nugent not chase down a defender? Nuge is only beaten in terms of effort and energy by Vardy. Fairly sure you're watching a different team to me mate.
Foxymcoxy Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Who actually believes or has said that? Liam Moore, he's one of our own!
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Do you not think that maybe your expectations are too high? If you watch MOTD every week you will see worse misses than Nugent's against Forest, (Joe Allen for Liverpool this week), missed penalties, bigger mistakes than any of Schmeichel's (Artur Boruc). England vs Germany, I watched Kyle Walker just kick the ball full width of the pitch and straight out of play from a free kick in his own half. These are players playing at a much higher level than us, and they still massively fvck up, managers too. I don't think Stringer helps by screaming Leicester must score after every attack and then letting us all down when they don't' When in reality the chance of scoring wasn't that high. Players aren't robots, they have good patches and bad, good games and bad, but I don't think anyone could accuse him of not trying during his poor spell this season, and I don't think anyone can accuse him of not being good enough at this level, his record speaks for itself. I just don't understand this expectation that we should win every game and take every chance and not miss a single pass or tackle. I do understand the criticism of Nugent's performances after the match as a cold critical analysis yes against Forest he was very bad. But there is a reason why he wasn't taken off, and a reason why he is one of the first names on the teamsheet, even when playing badly he is our most likely source for a goal and can score from nothing. Just don't expect him to score in every game, he won't, none of our players will. To your first point I don't think so with Nugent, no. I think that sometimes some of our fans can have expectations that are too high but I think that Nugent (owing to how good he's been for us previously) has had an incredible amount of patience from our fans. Let's not forget this wasn't one bad game, it wasn't one miss. I can think of countless games where Nugent hasn't reached an acceptable standard this season and numerous incidences where he's missed fairly easy chances... Blackpool away he had one, Derby in the cup he had one, Forest he had a couple, Huddersfield at home he had one. Not one-off instances like you note, which are of course acceptable, but several occasions. We have to expect that a striker playing for us at this level is able to convert at least some of those chances. Whilst an in-form Nugent scores probably all of them and more, the Nugent of this season missed them which is why his form is questioned? On the point regarding his effort, usually I would have no question mark over his effort but at times this year he's looked a little disinterested and his work has been a little laboured. The amount of times I've seen Knockaert come out from a wide berth to close an opposition defender down with real intensity whilst Nugent just ambles around has been incredibly frustrating. Or the amount of times that I've seen Vardy defend from the front by actually affecting an opposition defender's distribution compared to Nugent who has jogged around until the ball is passed to a defender being covered by Vardy or another player. If the form's not there then I expect the effort to at the very least be there. The final bit I've highlighted is of most importance for me. I don't think that anyone has done anything other than analyse his performances post-match and I've certainly not heard him being booed or abused at the matches which is why the stuff from him about fans "on his back" or "the boo boys" is a little rich. If he wants to come and read online why people such as myself haven't been impressed with him this season then he's welcome to, it's there in text and in a constructive manner for him to read at his choosing. But I'll also put this in writing for him as well, that one good performance and a couple of goals doesn't make up for three months of rubbish so until he's given us a solid three months of performing he should perhaps keep his head down.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Complete and utter bullshit. Please tell me when you have ever seen Nugent not chase down a defender? Nuge is only beaten in terms of effort and energy by Vardy. Fairly sure you're watching a different team to me mate. He's not. Nugent has closed players down this year but with zero intensity and the words that I have used is that this season he 'ambles around'. Yes, that's better than standing still or not bothering (which he doesn't do), but if you can recall a time where he's closed down in a way that has actually affected a defender's distribution or stopped him playing an intended pass (all Nugent does at the minute is make him play that pass a tad quicker, but all the same the pass he wants to make) then I would be very surprised. Vardy and Knockaert (and even Drinkwater to an extent when he's been playing further forward) on the other hand have all affected defenders on countless occasions, forcing them to give possession back to us or deliver a worse pass to their team mate.
MooseBreath Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Oh ffs Dave, grow a pair you big fvcking girl. You're 28-years-old and a multi-millionaire thanks to us football fans. Not such a bad old life, is it? I for one have never heard Dave being openly slated at the ground. Some groans when he does something crap of course but even world class players get that - it's a natural reaction to seeing someone fvck it up. I can only assume this so called abuse comes from Twitter or something, and if that's the case then Dave should remember that Twitter is full of twatty little kids who know not what they do. They obviously don't represent the fans at large so having a pop at the fans at large is out of order.
GingerrrFox Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Players should be mature enough to realise that they will praised when they are on form and criticised when they are playing like muck. As long as you put the effort in and earn your wage fans will still respect you. That is one of the main reasons people lost it with Gallagher, it became the situation where he barely tried anymore which combined with playing shite was never going to go down well. They knew what they signed up for when they became professional footballers so to slag off some fans after a top notch performance is a bit rich considering he's been quiet after poor ones.

Do you really think our £400 season pays Nugents wages?
Manwell Pablo Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 I hate this shite. Some players get all mouthy as soon as they hit form again. I bet he wouldn't have dared talked in this way 2 weeks ago, or in that period between February and October where he was absolutely wank. Just get the fvck on with it, some of his criticism has been very justified. I think you and others seem to forget this is a newspaper interview. The reporters ask the questions, the players respond He's probably responding to a question along the lines of "some fans have been critical of your performances in recent weeks David, do you think your two goals today will do anything to help that" It's not like he's rang the local rag up and told them to print a story sticking two fingers up at anyone who has criticized him.
Jace Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Who are the Leicester City Boo Boys? I think it is time for a classified list
Alexikokopops Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Gone are them days. Annoys me when people say this. Do you really think our £400 season pays Nugents wages? Not necessarily, but football fans are also happily buying things like Sky Sports which are certainly helping to pay them.

Would be quite funny if he did, have this image now of the odd player constantly ringing up the local news paper pestering them to get interviewed
Guest shearfox Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 I don't like it when players come out and say stuff like this, I prefer them to do their talking on the pitch.

kingfox Posted 25 November 2013 Posted 25 November 2013 Nugent always gives 100% even when he's playing poor, same applies to players like Dyer. As long as he is scoring, whether it's from the penalty spot or open play that's the main thing. Yes he had a very shit spell, and it wasn't a surprise to see fans get on his back. But all in all, he is our main goalscorer, and probably our best since Matty Fryatt. However only one thing I'm not sure of is, if we get promotion, I don't think he will be very good in the Prem nowadays.
