Guest Col city fan Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 I think Nugent is our best striker. However, he's not that good is he. It's possibly time for a personnel change anyway. Kasper, Nugent and Konch will probably all leave in the summer and, to be honest, I wouldn't be too bothered. It sometimes needs for one era to finish before another one starts properly.
JayT - Always A Fox! Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 As the title says, no inside info just guesswork. As we are looking at other strikers such as SEB and Berbatov ( ) maybe Nugent is going to make way? I think Nugent is a great player, and some of his goals and deft-touches are highlights of our recent years, but he has been out of form and unsettled recently. Also, he is on a big wage and coming towards the end of his contract. Personally I hope he doesn't go in January. I think it would leave a hole in the dressing room. As for the Summer, well I suppose it depends on his form between now and then and any other options which become available. After all, all players eventually move on. ??? I think this is why Gally hasn't fully moved on just yet. Pearson know's he's one of the lads! Also when you say all players move on - not all players move on, look at Dyer and Conrad!
marko Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Nugent wasn't with the other lads visiting kids at the royal today. He's gone I tel thee Yes he was! http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/city-stars-tour-wards/story-20303586-detail/story.html

Guest Col city fan Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 You think Kasper will go and you won't be bothered?! . Ok then. No. He's destined to move on anyway. As I said, the time is nearly always reached when players want a change. And I think Kasper has been pretty average this season anyway.
Simonb Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 nuge may be on a big wage, but you can gaurantee berbatovs would be triple that
NewburyFox Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 No. He's destined to move on anyway. As I said, the time is nearly always reached when players want a change. And I think Kasper has been pretty average this season anyway. I agree. He's a decent keeper for this level, but he doesn't see his future here, he'll be on a big wage and like you say, isn't in the same form that he was when he joined.
davieG Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Perhaps it's a case of Nuge out for £xxxxs and SEB in on a free = FFP met?
Devonfox1884 Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Perhaps it's a case of Nuge out for £xxxxs and SEB in on a free = FFP met? dont forget it's a real possibility we could get rid of waggy (unjustified IMO) for 500k+ in jan as well as danns probably going to bolton permanently on a free, if nuge went for say £1m, thats £1.5m in the kitty as well as 40-45k off the wage bill, even if we ger SEB in, we will still probably have 37k ish less on the wage bill, suddenly we are on course to meet FFP, we may even have a bit of spare cash to get a couple of contracts sorted out, and the club would be better off because of the sale of nuge. So, overall, i wouldn't be gutted to see him leave, it would be in the best interests of the club.
Babylon Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Perhaps it's a case of Nuge out for £xxxxs and SEB in on a free = FFP met? Indeed... If the offer was good enough you'd have to think about it for an out of form Nugent, who generally only gets worse after Christmas anyway (is that possible this year). If we were able to get a replacement in.
hackneyfox Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 I thought the club had already said we we'd met FFP, someone mentioned that SW had made this claim. We won't get 1 million for Nugent who is out of contract in the summer.
J.Lisemore Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Also wouldn't be too bothered if all 3 moved on, Kasper is replaceable, as is Konchesky and removing them massive wages will be brilliant for the club in the long term, Nugent isn't as replaceable but clearly it isn't the way forward for Leicester City to be paying the amount he's on. If we were to miss out on promotion I expect them all to leave.

Simonb Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 i can see him going qpr... didnt harry sign him for portsmouth?

yorkie1999 Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 i can see him going qpr... didnt harry sign him for portsmouth? Yes, and nearly sold him for a profit to derby the same week
GingerrrFox Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 I honestly wouldn't care if Nugent left in January and we signed Ebanks-Blake. He hasn't looked interested for a while, realistically he's not gonna be here next season (if we get promoted he won't be good enough anyway) and we've got youth and depth upfront.

We won't get 1 million for Nugent who is out of contract in the summer. I've seen nothing from the club on it. We might get a million but it would be staged payment over the course of his contact elsewhere. Or if forest bid, £1 a year for the next million years. Could this youth score 15/16 goals a year in the champ?
GingerrrFox Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Could this youth score 15/16 goals a year in the champ? We've got unproven players in Schlupp (never been given a sustained run upfront) , Hopper, Blyth, Panayiotou and Dodoo. Plus not to mention Wood (20 goals last year), GTF and Waghorn all not getting games. We've not exactly been firing on all cylinders upfront recently and we are hardly lacking talent or options.
volpeazzurro Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 Here’s my take on Nugent and these possible contract talks (or lack of them) Nugent – If we did get promoted, not good enough by far. If we didn’t, nowhere near worth the money he’s on whatever he’s on judging on the last twelve months, so if he did get a contract, and only if we stay in this division, it would have to be a very reduced one. Personally I don’t think he’ll be here long and that doesn’t bother me. Caspar – No point in talking, if we don’t go up he’ll be wanting a move to the Premiership. Most goalkeepers there at present seem better than him though so I can’t immediately think of where he’d be a first team regular. Lloyd – Great servant to us and I believe that he would be able to cause problems for the opposition in the Premiership also, certainly as an impact player. Worth a contract either way. Wes – The most difficult one to sus out for me. Absolute rock last season, not quite hit the same form this season so far. Is it me, or does he appear to be carrying just a little bit more timber this season? Good enough for the Premiership? Borderline for me. Could be offered a deal for if we go up or a much reduced one if we don’t due to money situation. Could we get Miquel? If so, do the club see Moore, Miquel and Was as better value for money, particularly because of the age of the first two and could that be another possible reason why they’re stalling? Don’t think Wes should panic though, they’d be plenty of clubs wanting him in the summer if he didn’t sign for us. Either way, if we didn’t go up, we could do ok without 1,2 and 4. The most important signing for me by far would be Nigel.
Corky Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 i can see him going qpr... didnt harry sign him for portsmouth? Nugent didn't enjoy playing (or not) under Redknapp at Portsmouth. Pearson is reportedly a big fan so I doubt he'd leave us for them,.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 December 2013 Posted 11 December 2013 My crystal ball ball has gone cloudy. We had all better wait and see, and not attempt to speculate.
