Italian football on Sundays on channel 4. The theme tune went something like, 'goal Lazioooo'

Absolutely, me too! Football Italia, thought that was a great programme with Gary Westonholme? I think it sounded like Goooolachio ( 'goal azio' means goal action or something very similar).

José Altafini, voice of "golaço"

The show became well known in popular culture for a shout of Golaço!, Portuguese for "fantastic goal", featured at the start and at the end of each show. The sound clip is of Italian television football commentator José Altafini, a Brazilian who played in Serie A for AC MilanNapoli and Juventus.[25]

"Golaço!" was transcribed as "Golaccio!" in the show's titles.[25] However, James Richardson later added, "I heard Steve De Berry [Steve DuBerry] who'd produced the music for the show say he'd wanted it to sound like 'go Lazio' because of Paul Gascoigne presenting it and so had added a twist to the soundbite."[8]

Hugh Johns "Oh, it's a screamer" for any goal scored from 20 yards on Star Soccer

Howletts matchday bus service from loughbrough, via quorn, mountsorrel and rothley.

??Winners?? matches - if you turned up with a box they gave you 50p of the entrance fee.

5-0 down at half time away at Middlesbrough due to "Mr Leicester City", Steve Walsh [what a hero] being sent off [again].

The bloke who used to stand in the family enclosure at filbert street and shout 'wakey wakey'.

lol He did that near me at Charlton once and the mocking from the home fans was hilarious.

Standing at the top of the steps at the East Stand and being told on to move on by the stewards but you only want to "see this corner kick".

Mentally following the flight of the ball in the air above the roof in same and waiting for it either to drop down higher on the pitch or the bang as it hits the roof.

Football Italia.

The Double Decker at Filbo.

Driving out of Leicester with my Dad and the 'Sports Report' theme.

Watching highlights on tele without endless replays and debate of contentious decisions.

Setting the tape for 'Nationwide Football League Extra' and watching the entire programme on Tuesday afternoon after school.

Fans on the Bentley building.

Beating Liverpool every season.

Marvellous, isn't it?

I miss filbert street massively!

I also miss when football was more about the glory of winning a trophy or getting promotion, rather than the money that it might bring into the club.

I miss the FA Cup, the greatest cup competition in the world, which has now be turned into a competition that many clubs, and even more sadly fans, now see as an unimportant sideshow, which they can`t wait to get out of quick enough, so they can concentrate on the league!

This. So very this.

All of the above :) except the dig at women and children - I'm female and used to stand in the Kop as did lots of women. Don't recall us affecting the atmosphere, we are as passionate as you! Don't think its anything to do with being male or female.

Although I will agree that the behaviour of many families at football these days is annoying! My children don't go to the toilet during the match, or take electronics (what's the point in going if you do this?!) or leave their seat at any point during the game.

Instead I take him in K block, I talk to him about the game, teach him the songs and when he's tall enough to stand and see we will. Don't tar all families with the same brush!

Definitely. My mum was one of the most passionate city fans I know. Followed them home and away in a time when it wasn't easy to go away, all the Wembley finals, climbing fences to get into sold out matches. She instilled this passion in me as well as cultivating such a deep hatred for forest that I can't even tolerate the colour red. Women and children went back in the 70/80's it's not a modern football thing.

Reading in the programme that the records were supplied by A.G.Kemble of Saffron Lane

Sorry for being anal, but the announcement on the tannoy was always ' A.G.Kemble of Leicester Road, Wigston'. And, yes, I do miss that!

Brilliant Voll Blau, good knowledge there, the clip bought back some memories! I've not long signed for the BT Sports package which comes free with my broadband etc (can't afford Sky) and there are quite a few Italian and German matches on there. Not the same as the old 'Gazzetta' mind. What's the story behind the Voll Blau, looked it up on Google Translate is it German for 'full blue'?

I miss FNF nights, especially when we'd get up to 16,000 against the big sides' reserves.

I miss walking up to Filbert Street for an evening kick-off and seeing the floodlights towering over Burnmoor Street with the fans walking through the turnstiles.

I miss the dank old turnstile blocks leading into the Kop.

I miss the days when we could celebrate goals without waiting for the goal music to kick in as confirmation.

I miss the soul and character of Filbert Street, it was a shithole but it was OUR shithole and nothing else like it existed.

Arriving back in Hinckley off the Wainfleet bus and going straight to the newsagents to pick up "buff" so I could read all about the game.

That night when we played Man U reserves and they had to open all the exit gates to get everyone in for a packed house. Whatever happened to Sam McMahon? He showed some real promise for the reserves, did injury finish him?

My mate's - 4 of us used to take it in turns to drive home and away from Bedford.

So only had to drive 1 in 4 and the non drivers always used to have a good drinky pre match.

Now watching games sober and just not as good.

I think a few pre match beers also got your singing voice properly lubricated and may have an effect on atmosphere - me anyway.
