Guest ttfn Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Beagrie: "Leeds could have had double figures at half time" He doesn't usually bother me but he is an absolute knob flap isn't he? Yeah if every shot they had went in! We could have had 32 against Millwall.
Guest Bilo Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 It's worth pointing out as well that QPR and Burnley play each other on February 1st. We have an opportunity to open up some serious daylight between ourselves and the play-off places over the next three games, perhaps even a gap at the top of the table. Lovely signs.
whitlock Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Kasper was a f**king beast easily the best goalkeeper in this division. Crosses we're very dodgy today... Buzzing though!
Raj Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Play crap=win. Job done....start believing????...wait til may!!!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Let's just hope the injured players will be back soon
One Legged Beaver Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Preferred this win to last weeks, came under the cosh for the first 30 minutes and could have been 3 goals down but showed our resolve! Dare I say it, stuff of champions! Don't understand why Leeds stopped vaguely keeping the ball on the deck after 30 minutes and resorted to hoofing it out EVERY time they got it though, really game is the advantage doing that.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I love this team, they make me happy every weekend and the nights out are so much better for it!!!
SMX11 Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Beagrie is a cock. Leeds were mediocre all game their chances were down to terrible mistakes by us. We were poor but at least we carved a couple of chances from decent play.
yorkie1999 Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 if stringer starts exaggerating the point about kasper having not entered contract talks and stirring the shit, im going to......
ARM1968 Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Leeds put in a shift - a dirty spoiling shift. They closed us down and put us off our game. We were actually pretty poor. But to come away with the points and a clean sheet is awesome. It's those games and those kinds of results that give me serious hope this season.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 McDermott: "We never got a break today." Errr, no, you just didn't make the most of them. McDermott 'never got a break' - Konch back pass on a plate for McCormack not a break from us? Just not taken McDermott set them up in a horrid fashion today. Hitting us hard, getting in our faces, going down at every opportunity, constantly giving our back four balls to deal with in the air, stopping us playing... the downside for them being that they were never going to be able to keep that up for 90 minutes. As they started to fade we capitalised and, whilst they never had enough to win that game, they probably did deserve a draw. As many have said, those are the kind of games you have to win to go up. If you look at the places we've lost at on the road this year; Charlton, Doncaster, Sheffield Wednesday, they were all scrappy games where we weren't allowed to play and ultimately came away with nothing. But we've grown and we're grinding out wins in a manner we would never have been able to last season and early this season. I thought quite a few weren't at their best today which makes this even more promising. Konchesky and Moore had some nervy moments but we pulled through. Phillips showed a bit of class and nous when he came on, enough to prove that he's worthwhile having for the run-in. Kasper made some good saves but also had a suspect moment when Lees headed over, but ultimately it was a real team win. A win for the unit, not the individuals. Heard Alan Young say on the radio that we won't lose again this year. That's nonsense and exactly the kind of attitude that can lead to complacency. Hopefully QPR and Burnley drop points this afternoon but even if they don't, the quicker this becomes a three-horse race the better - I'm entirely confident we'll be in the best two out of us, QPR and Burnley. We will have a slip-up and possibly a poor run, it's inevitable. But hopefully this good form carries us far enough for it not to matter.
kingfox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Buzzing They do say, there's cannabis on every street.
Bert Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Everyone knows we can be better than that and that we were below par. But we got the most important thing and that's the points.
Dr The Singh Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Konchesky was awful! Below par performance but stuff of champions, winning while playing poor! Would have took a point at half time
Jakemoore Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Could t get sky go to work on my lunch break except for the last several minutes, which meant I caught the goal epic timing! And a great result, deserved or not! Several points clear!!
Guest shearfox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 That is what champions are made of... when we got a chance it was brilliant, Phillips took the defender away and it was all Nugent from then on, two beautiful touches..
Guest ttfn Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I think there's been a lot of unfairly disparaging comments about Leeds. As much as it was a grim display characterised more by kicking us than any quality on the ball, they did use the ball far better than we did for the most part and should have been a couple up at the break, largely thanks to Konchesky having a 45 minute meltdown. I'm sure McDermott will be pleased with the way they bounced back from a caning at Wednesday. They made it difficult for us to play (which was their only chance really) and the gameplay worked pretty much to perfection. Probably 6 times out of 10 we'd have lost today given the pattern of play. Michael Brown is a complete disgrace though. He seems to have little intention of doing anything other than fouling and diving. Hrs a horrible oik and really it's a bit of a shame because 10 years ago it looked like he might make a decent career for himself. Now he's just a thug.
davieG Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Terrible game of football from both sides full of petty fouls, play acting (Brown) inconsistent, finicky refereeing and misplaced passing. Nearly all Leeds chances were gifted by LCFC and they were too poor to finish. After the first 20 we matched them in midfield when Drinky and James both woke up, we had the best of the possession but were unable to reproduce the slick passing of previous weeks. I wouldn't say it was undeserved but then from a quality of football perspective neither team deserved any reward suffice to say though we took our chance and they didn't and that entitles us to the 3 points.
Monk Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I remember a year ago Cardiff beating us at home 1-0 with a Bellamy smash and grab. Today we were exactly like that - under the cosh and making mistakes, but ultimately holding out and taking the chance when it came. I thought for the goal that Phillips took all of Pearce's attention and afforded Nugent that extra half a yard. Kudos to Moore as well for the cross - he was clearly in pain. Great win!
Exeter Fox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Great result, the kind of win you need to grind out to be promoted. Exactly what Cardiff did last year, and QPR when they went up via the automatics.
Webbo Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 We just hamburgled them... except it was a football match and not hamburgers. Leeds must feel as if they've been turd burgled.
