bovril Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 I wouldn't say they were undeserved. Leeds were shite after the 20th minute. Half their chances came from Konchesky. We closed it out, dulled it down and probably deserved to nick one at the end. I don't remember a Leeds effort since the McCormack one on one with Kasper. I agree. This is Leeds away ffs, we dug in there, got to grips with them and hit them with a sucker punch. Well deserved 3 points.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 In all honesty, Leeds should have been out of sight by half time. To hang on as we did and pinch in the last minute was really worth sitting through 88 abysmal minutes for. I love that this will piss their fans off more. Up yours you dirty bastards! COYB
Sharpe's Fox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Very poor performance offensively, but who gives a toss? Very happy with the result, and ecstatic that it was against Leeds.
Happy Fox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Kasper was a f**king beast easily the best goalkeeper in this division.
steveherbe Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 That was awful. If thats how we play away, I wont bother. Anybody want 2 free tickets for Bournemouth? NOT!!
Socks Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Get in! Grinded out result! Hope Richie not out again? :-/
Tielemans63 Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 It wasn't a particularly good performance but it wasn't as poor as some are making out. My Leeds supporting mate just text me to say that's the best they've played for months and we still beat them. I thought it was a decent performance in the sense that we had to withstand a lot of pressure from a really determined side. They weren't going to lay down and die like the sheep did.
Matt Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Excellent. We didn't play brilliant today, we weren't bad far from it, but i'd say Leeds were the better team, but grinding results out like that is a sign of a good team. It's getting exciting but we still need to keep our feet on the ground and focus. Fantastic, I guess we are hoping Sheff Wed do us a favour now then? (We were hoping this regardless of what we did ourselves today anyway)
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Several points clear and hopefully make it several wins in a row next week. Results more important than performances at this stage. You need to change your username to number several
Rincewind Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 They have switched to rugby in the pub so have not seen replay or comments
sdb Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Clearly the QPR win was more important but the nature of this win was fantastic. Undeserved. Vs Leeds. Love it.
foxfanazer Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Leeds were shit too tbh. Pressed well but that's it
Swarles Barkley Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 They have switched to rugby in the pub so have not seen replay or comments How could you tell the difference?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Last three away games - QPR, Millwall, Leeds All "difficult places to go". Nine points. Ta.
bovril Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Last three away games - QPR, Millwall, Leeds All "difficult places to go". Nine points. Ta. And only one goal conceded.
Monsell1976 Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Three very welcome but undeserved points there.Exactly my thoughts, good signs when you are never really on it, and come away with the points.Hope this run can keep going, confidence must be sky high, the only negatives, the couple of injuries we seemed to have picked up.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Hehe my mates house erupted when that went in. Reminded me so much of Cardiff at our place last season. Superb. Lovely dummy by Phillips and Nugent reacted quicker than anyone. Poachers goal. Kenny shouldve saved it tho
Crinklyfox Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 We've spent half the season dominating games and being wasteful in front of goal. Today we had very few chances and took one. Leeds came to battle and it forced errors, fair play to them but I'm not going to castigate our side for playing poorly. Leeds didn't make the most of their dominance and we made the most of our skills and we never gave up. So I think we deserved to win.
Bryn Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 It's a useful result for us in many ways. Not least it gives Pearson a few things to get his teeth into. Taking a win, so not dropping points, but playing poorly can be good because it serves as a message to the players and gives Pearson good reason to maybe call players on a few things which is harder to do when you're winning and playing well all the time. Bit of a safeguard against complacency.
Legend_in_blue Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 It was a typical McDermott performance, and what I am sure the majority of us were expecting to see. The difference being this season despite the fact that we put ourselves up against a side of limited quality, we still mange to grind out the result having played at their level for the majority of the game. I'm starting to believe we can pull this off now.
itsaknockeart Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Quick word for Liam Moore. Not, perhaps, his best game today but picked himself up from what looked a particularly painful arm injury, got forward and crossed the ball for the goal.
Guest ttfn Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 Dreadful performance - the worst we've played in about 10 games. Fantastic result though and a cool head from Nugent when it mattered.
ashfosse Posted 18 January 2014 Posted 18 January 2014 unbelievable bias crap from commentators. even when the goal went in 'leicester have been given a real going over today'. in terms of getting lumps kicked out of us then yes. leeds just edged the game overall and a draw would have been fair, however top teams find a way to win.
