QPR v Burnley next Saturday.

Surely everyone thinking Burnley will fade away should want them to win on Saturday. If you don't think Burnley will challenge us at the end of the season, and QPR will, then surely you want QPR to drop points.

:dunno:

I was told in October that Burnley would fade.

I'm still waiting.

Just looking at tomorrow's fixtures and to me it looks like we have the most difficult fixture out of the top 4.

As someone said earlier, tomorrow's games might have be a big factor in what we want to happen Saturday.

It's not the easiest game, but Birmingham aren't in great form, no win in 3, but only 2 defeats in their last 10, could well be a draw, which wouldn't be the end of the world, Burnley have got a tough game against Brighton, but are at home, I would expect Derby and QPR to win. We are probably the most likely to drop points, but knowing the championship anything could happen, would be great to break that record and notch 8 wins in a row, then it becomes less and less relevant what other clubs do.

Yeah, not so sure myself, unless they get a couple of injuries.

They took 32 points from their first 13 games. They took 19 points from their next 13. So they averaged 2.46 points per game until the end of October. Then 1.46 points per game since then. That's a pretty big fade already.

Since the end of October, when they were on a high after going top, beating QPR at home, we've picked up 12 more points than them in 13 games. Almost an extra point per game. Statistically, a remarkable downturn in our form or rediscovery of their early season form would be needed for them to challenge us again. Obviously we know the realism isn't that simple but Burnley are slowly fading away according to the stats.

I dislike QPR more than Burnley and also think Burnley would be an easier fixture were we to go up but I honestly think a QPR win is the best result for Leicester.

Besides, think of psychological boost a Burnley away win at QPR would be for them...

You can't ignore the stats BUT theyre still lingering like a bad smell.

imagine if they hadn't come off the boil

Yeah true. It would've taken something sensational to continue at anything like 2.46 points per game, mind. Would've had them on 113 points by the end of the season.

I assume they'll still finish in the play offs from the position they are in now, but probably stumble towards 5th or 6th because i doubt 4 teams below them will put enough of a run together to overtake them, rather than them keeping up play off form.

For anyone that thinks a draw would be a bad result needs to go away and think about it!!!

Our closest rivals sharing 2 points is better than one of them gaining 3! Shared points is the best result for us!

Surely you'd want the team who is currently in second (by the time they play) to win?  The gap to 3rd is Leicesters biggest threat..  Whether we finish 1st or 2nd is totally irrelevant.  If they were to play right now with the league as it is what would you rather have :

A: QPR winning - meaning the gap from us to them is 5 points but Burnley still 9 points behind

B: A draw - meaning the gap from QPR to us is 7 points and Burnley 8 points behind

C: Burnley winning - meaning the gap from us to QPR is 8 points but Burnley now only 6.

Logically, at this point in the season, a QPR win benefits us more than anything else in our quest for top 2.

Its still very likely that this will be the way it is after tonights games anyway.  QPR are likely to win, Burnley have the harder game so even more so on Saturday you'd want QPR to really put the stoppers on Burnleys push if they failed to get 3 points tonight.

Absolutely right..

Am I the only one that actually wants us to win the league?

Currently QPR are the biggest threat to that, even if they drop points tonight, I would still see them as the bigger threat, I also dislike them intensely and would rathe Burnley went up.

But for those that want just want us to finish top 2, that would require 2 teams to overtake us, a draw ensures both teams drop points and means that it is harder for either team to catch us.

I would love us to win the league.

But...promotion seems vital whereas being champions is not.

If I was offered ending the season now with us in second place or letting it run it's course with the chance we could finish outside the top two, I might have to take the former.

I suppose it all depends on if you want to win the league or just gain promotion. I want us to win the league.

That was like a dagger through my heart bud :P On a serious note, because I differ in opinion with you on this point it doesn't make me a troll. My opinion is based on both maths and pressure and let's for clarity base it on a massive assumption.... we win our next two away games they draw on Saturday and that's a minimum further 2 points BOTH clubs would be behind us, creating more pressure on them. Tonights results could put a different perspective on it, if one or both of them drop points or we do. And spectacles is purely my Sunday name. COYB :chant:

QPR win, from a purely statistical viewpoint.  I watched QPR at Ipswich.  They are extraordinarily hard to score against and looked quality compared to other Championship sides I have watched (except City).  I'd like to see QPR push Burnley back toward the pack because I think QPR is definitely odds on for the second automatic spot, so might as well make it harder for a third team to challenge.  Make Burnley start watching their back.

My dad always told me: 'almost only counts in horseshoes', but it counts in the English FA ladder as well.  I'd take 'almost Champions' to QPR any day.

That being said, though, I don't see either QPR or Burnley finishing ahead of Leicester.

Burnley need to average 2 points per game to get 90 points. I think we are 27 points from the Promised Land!

Come on QPR do us both a favour.

When you put it like that, I just get more excited.

I really don't like QPR, far prefer Burnley.

But God I want a Rangers win on Saturday.

Only another 9 games then to take our unbeaten run to 17 games? :dunno::unsure::fc:

Hey I'm here!

Actually it's from an Elvis song and nothing to do with where we look like we're heading.

11 clear of third is the important thing, game in hand isn't as good as points on the board.

Happy days.

Definitely want a QPR win now!

Same. Would give us a minimum 11 point cushion to 3rd.

If we win at Bournemouth, make that a 14 point cushion.

My wife likes cushions.
