Matt Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Both to lose midweek, us to win midweek and a bore draw between them on Saturday? At the end of the day though, we focus on what we are doing, don't bother even looking at other teams around us and it doesn't matter, it's in our own hands, it's ours to lose. Saying that, is this game on tv? Should give some interesting viewing ahead of our game? Knowing where we stand.
Carl the Llama Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 I can't believe all this clamouring for a QPR victory: I'd be hugely surprised if their squad finished below Burnley's, even with Arry doing his best impression of someone playing their first ever FM game, so the more points we make on them the better. If Burnley surprise us and keep powering through then we still only need to focus on staying above QPR which I think we should really be capable. So what I'm trying to say I guess is that the result between them doesn't really matter but it would be much nicer to see QPR drop back than a hard-working Burnley squad who have been this year's biggest surprise package(I'd say we're not far off in 2nd).
TJB-fox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Anyone thinking that our results will 'demoralise' qpr and burnley-wtf?? Theyll look to sort out their own results so they can take huge promotion bonuses. In fact, our results may spur them on (not that im saying we should stop winning though haha)

If Burnly and QPR both get 80 points we have to get more than 80 points, if they both get 90 points then we have to get more than 90 points. They're points tallies have an effect on us. I don't really get why people say that because it's just plain incorrect. If other teams accumulate more points it makes it harder to get promoted. No discussion, it's just indisputably true.
Larry_LCFC Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 0-0 draw and a massive lightning strike to kill both teams as they walk off. Cheers god.

The best result for lcfc is the result which makes our position in the league even stronger. For me that is a qpr win (or draw) as the gap to 3rd stays wide over a team I perceive to be weaker and therefore more unlikely that they become a threat in denying us automatic promotion. That Burnley are more likable than , 'appy 'arry's mob is irrelevant.
Danizen Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 A draw with us increasing the gap by two points. I'd prefer Burnley to finish 2nd (assuming we come 1st) but I don't care that much. Let them scrap it out for 2nd.

Theyll look to sort out their own results so they can take huge promotion bonuses. In fact, our results may spur them on (not that im saying we should stop winning though haha) I get your point. If I was in third there would be nothing more I would want than one of the teams above me to go on a 7 game winning streak.
lancyclaret Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 As a Burnley fan, I don't think either Derby or Forest can be ruled out for automatic promotion so I don't think it is two-horse race for second spot behind Leicester. Reading boss Nigel Adkins yesterday conceded the top two was probably now "out of reach" for the Royals but the top 5 must still be dreaming of auto promotion with most people backing QPR to get second place. Burnley also had a seven-game winning run at the start of the season, Derby had a six-game winning run not long ago and I would not be surprised to see QPR to do the same before the end of the season. As it stands, they have won 3 in a row with two home games to come this week.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 A bruising, hard-fought draw would be nice. This

I'm ruling out derby for a start. That said, I don't think there is one spot up for grabs, there is two as a few results can change everything. ? Really?? Hopefully it will strike twice, second time on his head.
wight88 Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 If we are to go up it would be ideal if we were accompanied by two sides we are more likely to take points off in the prem.
Simmo86 Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 A draw would be best for us. QPR will win though.
Narborough_fox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Ideally a draw, if either team was to win I'd like it to be Burnley because I can see QPR putting a strong run together at the end of the season so any points they drop now (even if it is to a automatic challenger) could be good in the long run.
I am Rod Hull Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 It depends what happens on Tuesday. QPR and Burnley both have tough games at home to Bolton and Brighton respectively, if they fail and we win at Brum i`d want the draw, but at this point i`d want QPR to win to put a gap between us and Burnley.

Brighton is tough for Burnley. Bolton isn't tough for QPR. Easy 3 points
AKCJ Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 If we are to go up it would be ideal if we were accompanied by two sides we are more likely to take points off in the prem. Ideally Derby and Burnley. Another point to note is that promoted sides are often after the same targets. We'd have to be sure to be a more attractive proposition to potential incomings.

As it stands, they have won 3 in a row with two home games to come this week. Words of wisdom. We've had a good run but a couple of poor results could easily bring other teams into the mix. Burnley gave a good account of themselves at the KP and we've had a couple of results that could have gone against us on another day. There's a lot of season left, I'm not too concerned how the teams around us are doing so long as we maintain our current standards - if we do, we'll probably go up automatically.
Matt Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Well of course it matters. So erm, we're 8 points clear of QPR, 9 points clear of Burnley, granted they both have a game in hand, lets say they win that game in hand making the gap 6 and 7 points, we're on equal games. Aslong as we win every game left they cannot catch us, it's impossible, it's unlikely we'll win every game but that fact still remains, therefore we should focus on what we do, we shouldn't be looking for teams slipping up, obviously it's good if they do, it helps, but ultimatly, it doesn't matter, we can't effect it, we just need to focus and keep winning, we do that, we win the league regardless of them winning every games that's left. I understand we still have both teams still to play but again those games are someting we can effect, any other games their involved in, we can't. We just need to focus on what we do.
Weller in Tights Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 A really shit 0-0 draw, both sides to lose their captain with red cards and Redknapp to get a 6 game stadium ban on the grounds of being an arsehole. I'll go with this.
