Leicester_Numan Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 If promotion is all that matters, a QPR win is the best result so 3rd place gains nothing. If we want the title then a draw is the best result to keep a bigger gap to 2nd. Preferably a hard fought one with Ings and Austin getting injured or sent off to mess both teams up a bit.
Kitchandro Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 I think the worst result would be a Burnley win. First and foremost we should be looking to get promoted. That doesn't mean I don't want us to finish top, but it's more important to widen the gap between us and 3rd. The bigger the gap gets, the more chance we have of promotion. QPR have the more capable squad, they are more likely to last the whole season, whereas I'm hoping Burnley will fall away. Therefore I see them as the weak point in the trio, if we can distance ourselves from them then essentially we distance ourselves from the play-off places. So a QPR win would help towards that. A draw would be nice, they would both 'drop' 2 points which is only 1 less than 3 for those not great in the maths department. This would be ideal IMO. On the other hand we really do have it in our own hands now, It shouldn't matter too much what happens between these 2. But it makes sense to want one or both of them to fall by the wayside ASAP.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 A draw has to be the best result, surely?
Harry - LCFC Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 So erm, we're 8 points clear of QPR, 9 points clear of Burnley, granted they both have a game in hand, lets say they win that game in hand making the gap 6 and 7 points, we're on equal games. Aslong as we win every game left they cannot catch us, it's impossible, it's unlikely we'll win every game but that fact still remains, therefore we should focus on what we do, we shouldn't be looking for teams slipping up, obviously it's good if they do, it helps, but ultimatly, it doesn't matter, we can't effect it, we just need to focus and keep winning, we do that, we win the league regardless of them winning every games that's left. I understand we still have both teams still to play but again those games are someting we can effect, any other games their involved in, we can't. We just need to focus on what we do. Yeah I agree with you there. It is of course it's up to us to stay ahead, it's just that we don't know what we have to stay ahead of. That's all I was trying to say.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 A bruising, hard-fought draw would be nice. Yes please. That would make me very happy.
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Both to lose midweek, us to win midweek and a bore draw between them on Saturday? At the end of the day though, we focus on what we are doing, don't bother even looking at other teams around us and it doesn't matter, it's in our own hands, it's ours to lose. Saying that, is this game on tv? Should give some interesting viewing ahead of our game? Knowing where we stand. Yep, 12:15 Saturday, I'm at a 30th on Friday night in Watford so not playing Saturday unless we have a squad crisis so I might see if I can watch that, will be interesting. As long as we win, any result is a good one, it's 2 from 3 at the minute and one of them will drop points. Winning the league would be nice but top 2 is the important thing. EDIT: To say it's 2 from 3 is a very Leicester fan thing to say actually so I'll apologies. Forest and Derby could well threaten.

Not sure if I'm missing something but, surely if the gap at present is 8 & 9 points, if both win their game in hand the gap becomes 5 & 6?
Matt Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Not sure if I'm missing something but, surely if the gap at present is 8 & 9 points, if both win their game in hand the gap becomes 5 & 6? Correct. My mistake. Still my theory/point remains though.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Ultimately it's a no lose game as one or both of them lose ground if we win!
DennisNedry Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 0-0 draw please. I want us to win the league! If either team has to win then I'd want Burnley to win for 2 reasons: - I still think Burnley will fall off towards the end of the season - I ****ing hate QPR
Larry_LCFC Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 ? Really?? Well what do you think? Hardly going to be serious am I? A massive blackhole opening for them to fall into is far more realistic
Kyle_Le_Don Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Surely you'd rather they get the result here then, since it would stall the more likely challengers? Silly
Rushden fox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 It depends what happens on Tuesday. QPR and Burnley both have tough games at home to Bolton and Brighton respectively, if they fail and we win at Brum i`d want the draw, but at this point i`d want QPR to win to put a gap between us and Burnley. I agree with most of this except I don't care who wins..I'd like them to both stay with us to keep us on our toes...but the 5 points ahead at all times. There's nothing worse then thinking you've already got there...for it to bite you on your complacent arse.
Lloydy Dyer Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Couldn't care less what the score is, it shouldn't affect us either way. But in the nicest way possible, I hope Ings/Austin get injured (sorry guys)
Guest ttfn Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Burnley have done nothing since October - the only notable results they've had are draws away at Forest, Leicester and Wigan. Meanwhile after a wobble over Christmas, QPR have strung together 3 consecutive wins, with 2 late winners and a great away win at Ipswich. They're grinding out results. So Burnley will probably play like Barcelona and run out comfortable winners. It depends what happens on Tuesday. QPR and Burnley both have tough games at home to Bolton and Brighton respectively, if they fail and we win at Brum i`d want the draw, but at this point i`d want QPR to win to put a gap between us and Burnley. Bolton at home is not a tough game.
FrankieADZ Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 in an ideal world.....they'd both lose Tuesday and then draw on Saturday.
Carl the Llama Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Silly Well it's clearly a fairly popular pov since many have reiterated it in different fashions since I made that comment. What's silly is making a post rejecting my opinion like that without explaining why it's obviously far inferior to your own mighty one. Would you like me to stencil your arse in for a headectomy?
foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 A draw would suit us nicely, if someone has to win then I would like QPR to win. Keeps a gap between us and third
harpendenfox Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Massive on field brawl spreads to the dugouts and then the stands. Both clubs charged with bringing the game into disrepute and docked 10 points by the Football League.
Corky Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 Hoping for a draw, but if that isn't forthcoming the second placed side to win (most likely QPR). The gap to 3rd is most important right now, we can go right out for the title if and when promotion is confirmed or our lead is substantial. I don't think that will occur for a while, if it does, so as long as we stay at least two results clear of 3rd I'll be happy.
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 How and why on earth do people think a draw is the best result for City?
